This comprehensive, easy-to-use outline will help students studying Russian History to better understand the material covered in the most commonly used textbooks on the subject.
I picked this up as a supplement to Vernadsky's History of Russia and the two volumes of readings also used a basic texts while taking the two semester sequence of Russian History at Grinnell College with Greg Guroff during the sophomore year. Coming in at just over 400 pages, this is a highly condensed history and the readability suffers as a consequence.
3.5 rating Poor Russia, always seemed to be somewhat backward and behind the western nations according to this book. Always trying to overcome an inferiority complex. Lots of data and a good thumbnail picture of Russian history. Precise and concise.
