Explains the creation of the earth using both science and doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With a forward by Henry Eyring.
Incredibly well written book on creationism versus evolution. The author actually paints a very clear picture of what the issue is, and how one can go about stating his or her beliefs without coming across as losing their faith or sticking too much to hard facts. A great line form the book was the statement that even evolution takes some faith to believe in, because there will always numerous ways to explain the evidence that has been uncovered. This book was made in 1976, but still holds many curiously valid statements on the lack of pure validity and complete absoluteness of the scientific method. The author also strikes hard against individuals who merely try to hide the scientific evidence that is around us that has led to many true and important concepts in the world. He truly conveys to the reader importance of learning about all the marvels that God has given us, accept the evidence, but not be so hasty in making theories out to be new laws and "scripture." The author is also LDS, and the book is from that perspective, but I would recommend it to anyone of any faith. This truly is a wonderfully complex world that the Lord has created, and may we always remember just how little we know of the truly awe inspiring and captivating beauty that it tightly intertwines into one ultimate purpose: our immortality and eternal life. Give a read, learn a bit about what your real perspective is on others in the world, gain some understanding of multiple sides of the argument, and get a little bit closer to being the saint you strive to be.
