Scratch the rust off a Northwest native and, underneath, chances are you'll find a Patches Pal. The J.P. Patches show aired on KIRO-TV, in Seattle from 1958-1981. If you grew up in the Puget Sound area during that stretch you watched the show. Simple as that. You would think that a program that ran for twenty-three years would have some interesting stories from behind the scenes. Stories that bring a smile, take you back to your days in short-pants, or leave you shaking your head with amazement. You would be right. Rediscover the magic of Julius Pierpont a true Northwest icon.
I loved this walk down memory lane about the most famous clown in Seattle. I watched him for years just like my classmates and laughed out loud at his antics on TV. If you were lucky enough to meet him at a community event, he was always kind and interested in you. My friend and neighbor worked on his show and is mentioned in the book. Great fun!
oh the memories. Used to watch this before going to school in the 60s. The book contains so much fascinating background material which adds to my find memories of the show.
