In Their World, Pleasure Takes Many Forms… Return to the highly-charged world of the Chanku, an erotic race of shapeshifters as powerful and bold as they are sensually gifted…
Willowy, auburn-haired Shannon Murphy has grown disillusioned with her many lovers. What she needs is a new challenge, and she finds him in Jacob Trent. The tall, gorgeous panther of a man has an aura of danger about him, a sense that he does what he pleases—in life and in a woman’s bed. His sensual movements, the way his mouth on hers ignites her most primal passions, suggest that he can have any woman he wants…and he wants Shannon…
Jacob is a Chanku disgraced, dispelled from the pack for trying to seduce his Alpha’s woman. For Jacob, no woman was ever enough to satisfy him. But he’s never met anyone like Shannon before. Something about her awakens a powerful hunger, a white-hot desire that must be explored, no matter the cost. He was sent to protect Shannon. Now, all he wants to do is pleasure her…

Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.
Many submissions and rejections followed.
In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.
In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.
She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.
She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.
Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.

Just a word to the average reader, be prepared to step into a different shifter world. And, this series is so hot it should make an e-reader melt! I don't even know what abbreviations to use for the relationships in this series.
The Chanku are a lost race of shapeshifters. Slowly, the core group of Chanku is discovering other Chanku and helping them make the change to being a shapeshifter. While the books center around a couple, the rest of the pack are supporting characters.
I loved this series. This first book had me HOOKED, the second book had my wishing I could find a wolf and this book felt so healing for me. This book is about connection, love, acceptance and even a bit of danger. The scenes are unforgettable. The story line is amazing, it is so well written and I couldn't put it down. I read the whole series in about a month.
Kate Douglas takes us on a journey of betrayal, and love of family that only forgiveness can heal. She reveals a depth of emotion, us humans can only dream about and hunger for. Kate can turn the heat up to scorching levels in her love scenes, that will get you up, out of that chair, hungry with desire for your mate.
In fact, by the time I finished this book, I was ready to tear my clothes off and run out the door naked and find my mate and run with the Chanku. Finally, believe me, you do not want to see me running down any street naked.
3.5 stars. Sensual, hot, explicit, erotic romance among wolf shape-shifters. Some readers may be uncomfortable.
STORY BRIEF: This is a continuation of the series about the Chanku, humans with unique DNA. If they eat a specific grass on a regular basis, they are able to shape shift into wolf form. When they find other individuals like themselves, they create or join packs and live and work together. Shannon is one of these but doesn’t know it. Some bad guys want to capture Chanku for testing and breeding purposes. Somehow the bad guys know Shannon has this DNA, and they try to kidnap her. The pack also knows this and sends Jake to protect her. Jake rescues her and takes her to a cabin in the forest for awhile. He asks her to take a vitamin supplement daily, but he does not tell her it is the special grass. If she is Chanku, she will have wolf abilities after several days on the supplements. The major conflicts between Shannon and Jake are that he doesn’t tell her about the Chanku, the true reason for the vitamins, and that he suspects she may be Chanku. They have a lot of great sex. Jacob believes she will be his mate once she officially changes into Chanku. Some other wolf shifters join them for group sex.
REVIEWER’S OPINION: The first half was the best (4 stars). The second half was pretty good (3 stars). The story and characters are ok. The purpose of the book is for erotic sex. Be forewarned, some readers may not be comfortable with the following: gay sex scenes, men with men, group sex scenes, rear door activity, all of it explicit and graphic.
DATA: Story length: 247 pages. Swearing language: strong. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 19. Total number of sex scene pages: 63. Setting: current day Maine. Copyright: 2007. Genre: erotic paranormal romance.
OTHER BOOKS: To date, I’ve read one other book by Kate Douglas. My 4 star review of “Wolf Tales” copyright 2006 was posted 3/15/09.
In the third book of the Wolf Tales series, Jacob Trent (aka Jake) is on his way to Boston to protect Shannon, a friend of Tia Mason’s. At the beginning of this novel, Shannon has a male visitor over who is about as boring as a wet noodle in bed. She excuses herself to take a shower, while hinting that he shouldn't be there when she comes back. He’s smart enough to take the hint and leave, but lacks the common sense to lock the door on his way out, and after her shower, two men attack her and kidnap her. Luckily for her, Jake pulls up and sees her attackers smuggling her into their vehicle. He is able to knock them out and steal her away from them, and their wild adventure begins, with Shannon wrapped in nothing but a blanket, knowing nothing of Jake Trent but his name.
The first scene in this book had me rolling with laughter as it brought back memories of past experiences I've had in life. It was definitely a memorable scene in the book and I have to give kudos to Kate Douglas for that chuckle straight away. Going beyond that, yet again, she has kept my interest piqued tremendously with this series. Not only are new characters introduced to and intermingled with the previous cast, but there is one character that comes into play in this book that you wouldn't expect to be Chanku at first, but it's a pleasant surprise and actually quite a powerful addition to the Chanku. The mysteries of why the Chanku are being targeted for attacks is also explained a bit more, so the whole storyline starts to come together. Douglas does a really great job keeping the storyline pumping and making you wonder just what is going to happen in the next book and who is going to end up mating with who.
I'm really not sure what to think of this book. I really liked the idea of the Chanku even if the name sounds stupid.
At first I was really not ok with the idea of sharing the female of the pack. It just didn't make sense for someone to want to desperately find their mate and then share her all whilly nilly. The sex scenes were okay. For some reason I can deal with 2 guys going at it but i'm not so keen on 4 guys.
The last couple chapters I started to think the sharing of the female made sense. it's not often a "romance" about wolves is told from the animalistic side of things it's normally told through the human aspect of feelings and such and these guys were doing what was natural for pack mentally. So after I digested that I felt better about the situation. I didn't hate the book and i'll probably read the others in the series because it is very intriguing but I sis a ton of skimming and I didn't finish the book feeling happy i spent 1.5 hours of my life I can never get back reading it.
From the previous book, Tia had left her girlfriend, Shannon in Boston. Now Shannon is in trouble and Jake has been sent to her rescue but a little too late. Jake meets up with the attackers. You'll have to read to see what happens.
Jake eventually takes Shannon to his own cabin in Maine. Tia had previously discussed with her packmates that Shannon could be Chanku. They take the time to get to know each other and during this time Jake immediately realizes that she is Chanku but still cannot be too sure until after some of the signs are noticed. She begins the pills to help with her shift. She soon starts to notice certain things about her body. She and Jake begin to love each other but is their love enough to keep them safe at his cabin? There are still people out looking for her.
I thoroughly love this series however this book I could almost tell what was going to happen before I read it. Since I am hooked on Chanku I will continue to read them all.
Well. I think this falls in a cheesy category. It's sole purpose is erotica. There is a small story about Shannon being protected by Jake from a person who started a breeding ranch for the shifters. The purpose behind it is not known.
As one of these shifters & belonging to a pack, you have erotic sex with everyone. Together or seperate, males with males, females with females, females with 4 males at the same time. Whatever they are in the mood for. BUT the main importance is to take a vitamin everyday till your skin crawls and you want to shift to a wolf. Then OMG! you turn & get all pissed because no one is allowed to tell you that you are a shifter. Thats OK, just have sex and you'll get over it. As long as you are part of this pack... Sounds fun.
It is a day read, and I don't have them all. so, I am hopping around. I am not sure they are really worth it, so I will read what I have if I need an erotic fix, but I have read so much better...
This series was mentioned to me by a new friend. I have always been into this genre with were creatures and the like. Wolf Tales is very different to most I have read though, Kate has brought the love and passion that is a part of a polyamorous relationship. It is not simply an erotic story but also something for the soul. To express the needs and wants of the more carnal side. Aside from that the characters are well thought out, they are not perfect stereotypes but have flaws, something relatable. The conversations are natural and not a forced filler. The story itself has a flow which is not as fast paced as the page count may cause you to think. They are full stories that have tie up all the lose ends and do not leave you hanging.
This is a paranormal erotica series, so if that's not your thing, stop reading.
This is the story of Jake and Shannon getting together, but it also introduces a new male character named Bay. Shannon is rescued by Jake from the same folks who kipnapped Ulrich in book 2, though that's not really the point of the book. The point is crazy, steamy sex scenes - it is erotica after all - in every configuration imaginable among up to 4 men and 1 woman, all of whom are werewolves. If you like menage stories and paranormal romance, you will like this. If either of those turn you off, avoid this series.
Chanku are very, very, VERY hot shifters! Be warned, if same sex relationships bother you, stay away.
I loved them all but I think Chanku Fallen in SB2 is my favorite. These are keepers
Chanku series Wolf Tales Sexy Beast~Chanku Rising Wolf Tales II Wild Nights~~Camille's Dawn Wolf Tales III Sexy Beast II~~ Chanku Fallen Wolf Tales IV Sexy Beast III~~ Chanku Journey Wolf Tales V Sexy Beast IV~~Chanku Destiny Wolf Tales VI Sexy Beast V~~Chanku Wild Wolf Tales VII Sexy Beast VI~~Chanku Honor Wolf Tales VIII
This story has plenty of graphic G/G and M/M sexual exploits as well as threesomes and foursomes. There is nothing light about Kate Douglas' erotica, there is really nothing left to the imagination. If this is what you are seeking then you have found an entertaining series.
Jacob and Shannon have one hell of a passionate relationship. Once again Kate Douglas has managed to inject some deep emotions in a naughty erotic romance. The Chanku is a well plotted story line with plenty of characters coming out of the woodwork to fall in love with.
In this story Jake is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his pack. They've sent him to secure Shannon Murphy one of Tia's friends who they think is Chanku and in trouble of being kidnapped. After meeting Shannon Jake is convinced their is something about Shannon that makes his wolf howl on the inside. He only has a few days to see if she feels the same, but will he be man enough to keep her and keep her safe. Once again Kate Douglas takes us into the world of Chanku and gives me a wonderful story to get absorbed into.
I picked up the majority of the series at a second hand book shop.
An erotic story of finding that which you have been missing in life. This book takes us further into the world of the Chanku a long forgotten race of shape shifters. It is an erotic journey of finding out who you are and what you can be. Menage and alpha themes. I enjoyed this book immensely. The author's writing style has solidified and improved with each book that I've read. Jacob and Shannon are my two favorite characters in the series so far.
**The series gets better with each book I've read.**
So far very interesting and keeping my interest. While this books was not bad I can't say that is was excellent. This was the first Wolf Tales book I read and it seems to me like they might all be the same. I probably won't read another one. Very steamy scenes not for the faint of heart. If your looking for romance this might not be for you.
I love Kate Douglas Chanku, the idea of their origins and abilities are a refreshing twist to the Old World legends of were-creatures and adding a pair of wizards to the mix gives this series an extra bit of pizzazz, hoping to eventually enjoy the entire series; if you like your books with a healthy dose of spice, check out this series.
I read this one first. It didn't mess anything up. The plot was typical but it made sense somehow. What I didn't understand was how a woman who starts the book sleeping with a guy she didn't know, had issue with meeting a guy and sleeping with him. Especially since the Chanku are supposed to be so sexual.
The first Wold Tales book kind of weirded me out a bit so I was a little reluctant to read this one. However a friend of mine said it was a better book and loaned it to me and you know she was right. We actually have a decent plot.
If you're looking for steamy sex scenes, this book certainly offers plenty of those. I also liked the unique spin on shapeshifters and the pacing. Overall, there was nothing wrong with this book, but nothing really grabbed me and made me love it, either.
I loved this book! This was the first book i read from the series... i picked it up because i liked the guy on the cover... its a good series however its not for the faint of heart!
this series is hotter than hot. So if you're not into that kind of thing you won't care much for the books. However if you like your reading intense than go for it.
These are some very very lucky ibiniches!! Gorgeous bi- men well hung and cute in both their human and furry forms! *sigh* Can't wait to read the next adventure!
