"A nice twist on the zombie mania. Well written, fast paced and lots of good action and blood…” The Locationist Amazon reviewer

Alex Moss is a former U. S. Navy SEAL, and a veteran of two wars, but the enemy he is about to face is like nothing he could have ever imagined. Moss thought he’d settled comfortably into a life at sea, and a second career far removed from the battlegrounds of his past. He commands Fearless, one of the world's premier scientific research vessels. Along with his hand-picked crew of special operations forces veterans, Moss now assists in the advancement of marine science, but a dark force has been unleashed aboard his ship— a force that threatens to kill them all...

Dr. Thomas Falcon is a highly respected and widely published shark biologist with a powerful, and ancient, family history he knows almost nothing about. When Falcon's best friend and colleague, the gifted shark researcher Dr. Peter Marsh, invites him to join his scientific expedition aboard the privately funded research vessel Fearless, Falcon jumps at the chance. But once Dr. Falcon arrives on board, history will catch up with him when he unwittingly triggers violent events, and awakens an unspeakable evil...

I love zombie stories and anything that has killer sharks is alright in my book too. So, of course, I had to read Death Catch.

Zombie Sharks!

The saying, "No good deed goes unpunished," sure fits this tale. After seeing fishermen slaughter countless sharks just for their fins, throwing the still living creatures back into the ocean to sink and die a slow, horrible death, one man does something to honor them. Thus the zombie sharks are born.

It's a no holds barred fight to the finish as the sharks grow in numbers, bent on our destruction. And boy do they go at it. Flesh rips. Bodies are dismembered and crushed. The dead pile up. The sharks keep on keeping on.

A smorgasbord of characters carry the story to it's end. A lot of them don't make it. Some become unwilling heroes. And some just want some payback.

Death Catch is gruesomely fun. The suspense is intense. The writing is good. The plot is well thought out and researched. And the horror is top notch.

Here's one for all of you who love your beasties mean and hungry.

Fearless is a scientific research vessel studying the decline of commercial fisheries and they have stumbled upon a crime. They are finding piles of dead sharks, caught by brutal finners who strip the sharks of their valued fins and throw them back into the sea to die.

Shark biologist Thomas Falcon is furious about the carnage. He goes on a late night secret dive down to the sea bed where the bodies of the dead sharks are lying. He has a voodoo talisman gifted by a relative, and without thinking, he inserts it into the mouth of a huge tiger shark and wishes the soul on to a better place. But things go wrong and the voodoo charm reanimates the shark as a lethal killing machine...and it awakens it's dead comrades into a horde of zombie sharks.

I love zombies! I love sharks! So there was no way that I was going to miss this book! Yes I know, zombie sharks are cheesy sounding but it wasn't really like that. The sharks become a swarm of aggressive sharks that will not stop and just eat everyone in their way. The zombie curse also allows them exit the water to attack people on beaches, boats and even a massive cruise liner. I liked the idea of the sharks getting on board the cruise liner and hunting down their food in that way. It might sound dumb but hey, lots of gory deaths to enjoy so that kept me pretty happy!

The plot moves along at a breakneck speed with all the shark attacks and the crew of Fearless have to start listening to what they thought was a mad story by their shark biologist. Falcon visits the death scene on the beach and is told that he was responsible for the carnage. When he realises what his talisman has done, he has to convince those on Fearless that he is telling the truth and that there is a very dangerous way to stop the sharks. Falcon may have triggered the events but I liked the way he decides that it is up to him to stop it. My favourite character was Alex Moss, the chief of operations on Fearless. He is the smart and resourceful guy who has to protect Fearless and its men at all costs from the sharks.

It's not to be taken too seriously with a plot like that but if you enjoy the daft SF channel shark films and these fast paced monster books then you will probably enjoy this gory romp of a book. I've already purchased the next book in the series and I look forward to reading it!

Oh, the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. My weeping because I spent good money (.99) on this book and gnashing because I actually read it! Rotting and smelly zombie sharks! Attacking humanity! Although outlandish, it is at least well written, visual and precise in language. Like a movie. It could rival Shaknado.

Don't read this at the beach!

A roller coaster thrill ride of a story! Though it starts off a little slow, it quickly picks up speed, and then you just hang on and hope for the best.
It took a couple of chapters for me to get used to the authors writing style, but after that; clear sailing.
The authors knowledge, and experience gave credibility to the mechanics of the story, while his imagination gave it originality.
Despite the danger, and desperate circumstances the crew and civilians on board find themselves in, the author still managed to give us glimpses of the main characters personal history, and personalities.
I thoroughly enjoyed the adventure, and am going to start on the next book in the series now.

Ok, I was not sure what I was getting when I downloaded this book free from Kindle. Sounded interesting. It was campy and unbelievable and just a fun lighthearted read. Definitely not a book to take seriously or get mad about. I read some reviews after I got done and some people seemed angry that it was not a more serious book and felt cheated because it was about zombie sharks. Lol...sometimes I need to read about zombie sharks. Sometimes I need to read a book that is just fun and not at all serious. This was a great one for that.

I might have enjoyed this more if I knew what I was getting into. Though I think if I did, I wouldn't have read it. I was expecting a shark leviathans story or some killer shark created by a research vessel, both of which would have been amazing and I could have suspended my disbelief.

Instead I got a b-movie in a book with zombie sharks flying through the air and going on land, breaking into cruise ships.. It wasn't horror and it definitely wasn't for me.

While I loved this book in a way, I can only give it 3 stars. Here's why: It's basically the book version of Sharknado. While it is inherently entertaining and thrilling, the characters were flat to me and plot holes abounded. But it was fast paced and about sharks! So if you don't mind a fun and "campy" monster novel, sink your teeth into this one because zombie-sharks!

Review so early in a read?

When you can't continue until posting a review it doesn't create a friendly environment for writing said review. However I think this would fit nicely for summer reading during SharkWeek on TV. You might want to rethink this read if you plan a beach trip or even a cruise anytime soon.

Suspend all Rational Thought!

I really hate to do this. I don't think I have ever rated a book like this but, Oh Man, this was so utterly unbelievable. I kept trying but at about 40% completion I just could not take it anymore. It should have told you that this was a FANTASY. Zombie SHARKS that can fly through the air and get on a cruise ship and kill almost everyone on board??
