The Fibro Fix: Get to the Root of Your Fibromyalgia and Start Reversing Your Chronic Pain and Fatigue in 21 Days

Rate this book

Chronic pain affects nearly 100 million Americans. Ongoing fatigue affects even more. The combination of fatigue and body-wide chronic pain, often called "fibromyalgia," remains mysterious and confusing, and an alarming 66 percent of sufferers are misdiagnosed. Now, leading naturopathic medical doctor and nutritionist David Brady is here with the answer in his comprehensive book The Fibro Fix.

For more than 23 years, Dr. Brady has treated many thousands of patients seeking relief from fibromyalgia. In The Fibro Fix he distills his life-changing prescription into an integrative 21-day program to help you determine if, in fact, you're suffering from fibromyalgia or from one of the conditions commonly misdiagnosed as the fibromyalgia. The plan begins with three simple steps--detox, diet, and movement--to start relieving those symptoms for good and then offers deeper long-term solutions specific to the real cause in each person. The Fibro Fix is your groundbreaking guide to resolving fibromyalgia, and uncovering the mystery behind chronic pain and fatigue.

This book disappointed me. While it does offer a thorough approach to treating and living with Fibromyalgia (relaxation, medication, diet, exercise, etc.), it struck me as a sales pitch for the author's detox and supplement products. This would be a much better resource for those who suspect they have Fibromyalgia than individuals diagnosed by a trusted, qualified physician. The author, in my opinion, presents in an accusatory manner towards medical providers with an air of skepticism of Fibromyalgia as a creditable diagnosis.

On reading another book now “The autoimmune solution cook book” by Amy Myers MD I’m not sure who has copied who but the chart to measure your inflammatory score is almost a direct copy of her book?!? I guess if you change or miss a couple of lines it’s not plagiarism but 🤷‍♀️ I still preferred this book as in the other one currently reading she promotes her supplements and encourages you to buy them online. It’s more of a marketing ploy which I don’t like and I’m glad I’ve borrowed these from my library and not bought them.

5 stars because this was such an easy read without all the usual jargon. I’ve had rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia for over 20 years. It’s just constant chronic pain every day. Medication takes the edge off, sometimes. I did the questionnaire and answered honestly and got a score of 74/100 which reinforced what I already knew regarding my diagnosis. It brought up many suppressed emotions and memories but also gave me answers as to why this happened to me.

Mum had fibrocytis and it was only a few years ago I mentioned that to my rheumatologist and she said that was what they called it before it was a recognised disease. Mum got no help only told she was a hypochondriac and if I knew then what I know now I perhaps could have helped her more. But after her marriage broke down when I was 11 or 12 it was just the two of us and she struggled to work following a nervous breakdown and being hospitalised for 6 months. With what she went through each day without medication I do not know how she did it but she wanted me to have a better education than she ever had and would not allow me to leave school early to help. I did try with after school and weekend jobs since I was 12. This book showed me my mother was a true hero and there were many like her with so called Drs not believing or trying to help. Shame on them.

This is an excellent resource for anyone trying to figure out if it’s fibromyalgia or some other type of chronic illness. Ok it’s American so I’d never buy the supplements online offered but he gives recipes to make your own to do the 21 day trial to try to improve your health and maybe just maybe reduce your pain. There are exercises too which I’ll try but pain prevents me doing a lot but I will still try.

This book is one of the most interesting and detailed books I have read on Fibro. It not only explains what Fibro is, but also what it isn't. Too many people have been diagnosed and then come to find it wasn't Fibro, and there was hope and help to relieve the symptoms. To help the reader better understand whether they have Fibro or not, there is a chapter on this subject as well as a test.

It doesn't stop there, but goes on to provide a 21 day plan to help one deal with the fatigue and chronic pain. It is not just an eating plan, but includes actively working on lowering the toxins entering your body and finally relaxation/movement.

There are meal plans and exercises included. As with all medical changes, I would speak with your Dr. first if planning to make major changes but I do believe this will be an excellent resource for those dealing with Fibro.

Thank you to Goodreads, Dr. David Bradley and Rodale Books for the opportunity to win a free copy of this book.

Please note: The above review is based only on the reading of this book, and has nothing to do with it being given free.

This is an encouraging book full of great insights into fibromyalgia. The author does have products that he mentions, but he also tells you how to do it on your own. I don’t think his products are outrageously priced though from what I’ve used before. I also liked that he talked about other ailments that mimic fibromyalgia and how you treat those. I plan on using this program in February, so more to come as to my results. I’m hopeful that God will use this to bring relief of my pain.

If I read one more time that FM is caused by having a traumatic or abusive childhood, I am going to lose my mind. I just couldn't get on board with this guy who sells his own remedies and promotes a general distrust of "normal" (not "functional") medical doctors. This book left me feeling confused and negative.

Mixed review. Knowledge and a sales pitch for supplements and protein powder. Good information on treating fibro and understanding wether or not it is fibro (even gave my doctor an idea for another test to run and something for me to test that my insurance won't pay for which is adrenal fatigue). The big thing is that the fix DEFINITELY feels like an extreme plan that's also a sales pitch. Instead I'm choosing to change my diet in a similar fashion but with less of the routine extreme initial 21 days. There are autoimmune and anti-inflammatory diets and this lead me down that path of researching that and vegan keto. I consider this book more good than bad.

Dr Brady approaches identifying and treating Fibro from a fresh and powerful perspective, and this book is packed with resources. I found it to be an invaluable read and reference, and would recommend it as a worthwhile read to anyone who continues to struggle with the exhaustion and pain of this condition, despite specialty allopathic treatment.

One of the very best books I've read on this topic in a long time. And I have read a lot of them searching for advice on dealing with this miserable malady. If you also suffer from Fibromyalgia be sure to take a look at the advice in this book because it is sound. Thank you Dr. Brady!

In depth book

A helpful book about diagnosing and treating fibromyalgia. From symptoms, to rolling oot other health issues, to treatment options and diet, exercise, etc. This book goes into much detail while still remaining rainbow to the lay person.

A clear sales pitch. There are other books better written with much more important, cited information.

Disappointing. Felt like a bit of an infomercial in book form when the author references supplements that can be purchased on their website or buying a box kit from same.

Overall I liked this book although I have not tried the 21 day diet plan and probably won’t as I am recovered from eating disorders and even reading about this plan was triggering. Still there is a lot of useful information in here. This is not the first book I have read on fibromyalgia but it was still helpful. I do meet his criteria for classic fibromyalgia but also have structural issues. I do plan to revisit this book and implement some of the recommendations and recipes. I am also going to find a functional medicine doctor to help get more personalized testing and guidance as a result of reading this book. Going to have to save up for a couple of months to pay for it but with all the trouble I have been having I do think it’s about time I tried a more comprehensive approach than is offered in conventional health care.

As I have Fibromyalgia now for more than 10 years and as,I love reading and researching, I have read a number of books on the subject.
I was very disappointed by this one.
It does cover all aspects, diet, exercise, natural remedies and vitamins but all these have already been covered over and over again
