Rose is a rancher at heart. There’s no doubt in her mind that if given another chance, she can make a success of homesteading. She will not fail this time. People scoff, saying ranching is too much of a job for a lone woman to undertake. But Rose is no ordinary woman. She may be petite, stylish, and beautiful, but she is also strong and driven. Every aspect of ranching brings joy to her heart. Then why is she here in Wise River, Montana, taking orders from a mean-spirited school board and attempting something she has no clue how to do? Teaching? Jesse Rivers carries his own baggage on his wide shoulders. He’s been called home by a dying stepmother to take over the Rocking R Ranch and the care of a belligerent and wounded brother. A rugged, lanky cowboy, Jesse is also demanding, surly, and afraid to love. No, he can’t love. What if he has buried inside him the same volatile anger as his father, resulting in brutality by strong fists or a whip? Then Jesse meets Rose. Strong willed, outspoken, determined, and oh-so-desirable.
Upfront there is mild to moderate swearing ( A few dozen) that limited my recommendation audience. There is no sex scenes, that's pretty clean but Rose puts herself in a compromising living arrangement that is resolved at the end thanks to a pungent pig farmer's entrance into Rose's life. This is a good plot, well written dialogues and developed characters- the good, bad and a few ugly, so it makes great reading. Does Rose ever buy her homestead? This book makes a great read, but the language limits my hearty recommendations.
This book reads fast. You'll not really want to put it down. It's a delightful story of a young woman, Rose, who having lost her husband and her farm, comes to Montana to be with her sister and family. She meets Jesse, a ranch owner, at the train station upon her arrival. The fun begins right from minute 1 as they misread each other and trade barbs. Many heartwarming moments, sad bits, fun bits. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
This is a delightful story. No blasphemy, no sex. Had a good few laughs and was moved to tears. Loved Tory's healing journey. Rose is a strong-willed, loving woman with a big heart. Really felt for Jesse and his fears were understandable, but .... no spoilers Lovely ending.
Wonderful story. I enjoyed reading your book. I love reading about the people who pioneered the rugged life in the west. This was a great story of an amazing woman who was just as rugged as the men.
A sweet, cleanly written story about a strong, stubborn woman and a handsome lonely rancher. The rancher has a younger brother filled with anger and intelligence. A happy ending. Good read.
From start to finish this is what I would call a comfort read. It was very entertaining. I enjoyed it from start to finish and would highly recommend it. There are a few surprises along the way too. Looking forward to read another book by the author.
Two very strong characters, Rose and Jesse, slowly and endearingly move toward love in this Western historical romance. I so enjoyed the setting, the frontier atmosphere and the courage and stamina it took to build a life in western America.
Fantastic book! I loved everything about this book! Great characters that you can't help but fall in love with. If you like historical western romance, this is a book that you don't want to miss.
A great story, easy read. I liked the festiness of the H. And how they worked together. A clean read a d no steamy nor sex scenes. I recommend this book.
The characters were well defined. Easy read. The plot was typical for this genre. But I like the fact there was no overt sex descriptions. I’d buy more from this author.
Small town Montana, 1860. A light-hearted, kisses only romance.
Rose lost her small ranch with cows to a drought. She sold her ranch for < than its value. Then elected to become a schoolteacher in a small town where her sis & (MD) BIL resided. The 3 member school board was rigid and did not approve of her unorthodox teaching methods (IE refusing to use a paddle).
Rose met tall, lanky, surly Jesse her 1st day in town & they verbally clashed. Jesse & his younger bro (who Rose even- tually taught) had a tense relationship. The H & h slowly got to know ea. other. Witty how the h made the H jealous.
Montana Rose is a strong determined woman and can handle anything life throws her way how she handles her new life in Montana makes this a book you don't want to miss reading
