Carrie Taylor only wants one thing in life - to be a mom. She knew from an early age that being a parent, especially a stay at home mom, was her #1 goal. But at 27 she feels like she's missing the boat for love, and for babies.
If she can't have a baby, Carrie at least wants to enjoy her career, but she hates her job. When a new one presents itself Carrie can't say no. Even if the job is working for the man who makes her insides flip, burn, and ache for more.
Drew Montgomery never expected the woman with the endless legs that he saw across the room at his launch party was his new receptionist. He'd hired her sight unseen at the request of his partner, Xander, and Xander's wife, Mandy. Both insisted Carrie was perfect for the job, but Drew thought she was perfect for helping him get over his ex.
As Carrie and Drew struggle to find a balance between their attraction to each other and their working relationship, Carrie questions if sleeping with her boss, and hiding it from her friends, is really a good idea. She knows he's only in it for the sex, which she's enjoying, but sex isn't going to help make her dreams come true.
Especially if Drew's mom and ex girlfriend have anything to say about it.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Mary E Thompson spent most of her childhood wishing she had a few less curves. She hid in the pages of books because her favorite characters never cared what size her clothes were. Now, neither does Mary, and she writes stories that celebrate women like her. Real women who have curves, chase dreams, and find love, because we should all be happy, no matter our dress size. Mary spends her non-writing time with her husband and two kids, watching too much TV, cheering for her hometown football team (Go Bills!), and hiding chocolate from her family.
This was my first book by this author, and I have to say it won't be my last.
I really enjoyed reading this story. Right off the bat things get hot between Carrie and Drew until she finds out he will be her boss. They tried to fight their attraction for each other, but we all know how that plays out.
Ugh Drew I wanted to hit you at the end, but he does make up for it.
There were a lot of questions left unanswered hence the 4 stars.
“I love being curled up behind you and kissing your neck like this. It’s like my own secret spot because during the day when your hair is down no one else can see this spot. But when we’re together I leave kisses there, like a promise that I’ll return to get them back.”
Mary E. Thompson is a new-to-me author, and I’m glad that I purchased her book. The story was really well written with great character development. Drew is a hard working young man, who has gone thru a failed relationship that left him devastated, and not trusting in love. During the grand opening of the business that Drew and his best friend, Zander have established, Drew meets Carrie. There is an immediate attraction between the couple and they have an interlude in Drew’s office. Carrie is a lonely young woman, with several close friends, friends that have found their spouses, while she is still single. She begins to work for Zander’s company and she realizes that the man, that she had met the previous night, is also her boss. Drew and Carrie begin a secret relationship, that becomes somewhat complicated. They are good together, and Carrie considers it a fling, until she begins to have stronger feelings toward Drew. Drew’s mother and his ex complicate the couples lives, and they breakup. Carrie realizes that she is pregnant, but is unable to tell Drew before she has lost the baby. Heartbroken Drew attempts to reconcile with Carrie, but Carrie stands strong. A determined Drew finally tells Carrie that he loves her,and the couple finally obtain their HEA.
3.75 Stars. Workplace romance, secret hookups, meddling mom. Carrie and Drew were a lust at first sight hookup, and then Carrie discovers he’s one of her new bosses. The story was enjoyable, but I wish it had been dual pov. They had crazy good chemistry and it was hot when they were together. I liked the friends Carrie surrounded herself with and recognized how it’s easy to begin feeling left out when you become one of the few singles. Overall this was a fun, easy read and I’d be interested in others in the series even though I’d like to see a tad more story development.
WOW.....sparks fly between Carrie and Drew the moment they lay eyes on each other. And what a first meeting that was. They go hot and heavy in the office during a party without really knowing each other. Carrie ends up working for Drew and the two can't get enough of each other. I didn't like Drew's mother...uugghhh!!! And that scene with the ex......for a moment I wanted to punch Drew. But he made up for it by taking care of Carrie after what she went through.
Thus was pretty decent and I almost gave it four stars until the end and they didn't even address the big thing that happened. Aka why she was in the hospital. This author makes her female characters kinda weak and then super moody crazy. But this one stood up for herself and I did like that. Like I said would have gotten the other star if they addressed that big issue or even his mother. Like really you're just gonna leave it at that?
I did enjoy this book as it had depth and the romance between Drew and Carrie was good however there was some situations that occurred in the story that I felt should’ve been addressed as they were pretty serious but they weren’t addressed which I found a bit annoying and I just felt that the ending of the book could’ve been better if they addressed these issues. Overall, this was a good quick read!
I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would if I’m being honest. It had depth and I was sucked in from the start. It was hot and the chemistry and romance between these two will make you turn pages to follow on their journey. I’m glad I picked this one up and will look for more by this author.
Wow, This book was so good, I didn't want it to end!! I absolutely loved Carrie! She was so relatable. The chemistry between her and Drew was smoking hot!! I laughed, I cried, and in the end I was so happy I read this book!!
This series was so good I could not put it down and I rushed to get the entire series...all 13 books of them. You will absolutely love every single character in the book, you will laugh out loud through and just shake your head at the antics of these fearless women. No spoilers, sorry. Go on, hurry don’t hesitate, these are just to damn good to pass up. My review will be the same for all 12 books cuz they are all amazing!
Too many character inconsistencies in this one. She says she is super self confident but then constantly acts like she has low self esteem. He is a self proclaimed Mama's boy, but they NEVER seem to talk about ANYTHING that matters. It was annoying af and was hard to finish.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were loving and protective of each other. They were really a good part of making sure that everyone in their group was taken care of and if they wanted anything. Their love for each other was unbelievable. Good well written story.
Absolutely sweet, amazing and steamy. I love it gives us plus size women hope that we can get our happily ever after too and that the struggles we face are for us very really and sometimes on a daily.
Well I’m back to enjoying the series again. I didn’t like how Drew handled his ex showing back up & he almost became as hated as Conner in the last book, but his explanations made sense when he could finally get Carrie to listen.
Secrets are kept when Carrie takes her new job offer, Drew and Xander open up their business, but affairs of the heart are tough. Secret sex in an office without names is h-o-t.
This book was a kind of downer for me. I was happy to Gey Carrie's story, but Crew's mother's reaction felt like a letdown that was not resolved by one sentence from Drew.
They are my favourite couple of the series💟 Loved his sweet words to her💖 I quite liked this one, interesting/intriguing love story, with drama & sadness, his meddling mother - just wow, +etc. 🧁☕️🧁☕️🧁 I enjoyed that they hooked up at the party…so naughty 😈💋💋💋😈 I know Drew was being a ding-dong for keeping it hush-hush, but he ment well just didn’t know how much he was hurting Carrie’s feelings ❤️❤️🩹❤️
Read again for 2nd time on Galatea (as series ✨magically✨ disappeared from my iBook library) just had to deal with the annoying 6hr wait between itty-bitty chapters 🙄🙄🙄 I even used points to read few chapters cause just had to re-read it sooner 😫😭🥰😍🤩
