Spell Book Two

Hero and criminal. Brute force and subtle charm. Jonathan White and Crow Belcane are polar opposites, but if they want to rescue the man they both love, they’ll have to work together.

After visiting his former lover, Crow knows only one he loves Regis and he will do anything to reclaim him. But before his very eyes, Regis is abducted. Kidnapped by high-end slavers. Only Regis’s infuriating partner, Jonathan—a dangerous vigilante—is willing to help.

To infiltrate the slave ring, Jonathan and Crow disguise themselves as master and pet. As a slave, Crow is pushed to his limit. He’s chained, branded, whipped, and forced to obey Jonathan’s every order. But the longer he spends at Jonathan’s feet, the more natural his disguise begins to feel—and the more he likes it. As much as he hates Jonathan, they make a good team.

Both of them are devoted to Regis. Despite the overwhelming attraction between them, Jonathan is unwilling to betray his partner, and Crow is unwilling to come between them. But once the three of them are together again, all bets are off. With the world against them, they have only each other to cling to.

OMG! This was so good and I am totally going to fan girl the hell out of this review because the book is over and yet the story is not even close to being over and I want so much more. I can’t even think straight having finished this less than an hour ago. Goodness.

Evelyn Elliott, you have a fan in the form of a ginger girl who loves this series!

This begins about two years after Bad Magic ends. Crow has disappeared and left his best friend Regis, so that Regis can be happy with the man he loves, our newest Knight and always the handsome hero, Jonathan. But Crow needs his friend, he needs the magic Regis has because Belcane’s magic is beginning to fail and Crow, is losing the magic that makes him human. Phew. That is a lot of magic, isn’t it?

Gah! The reunion of Crow and Regis was so them it made me giddy but it also made me hurt. Seeing my beloved Crow so vulnerable practically begging Regis for his help and Regis, well… being Regis, throwing out the possibility of impossibility crushed me but it’s the way these two are. If they weren’t sarcastic and rough with one another in every way, they wouldn’t be them.

This is really Crow’s story and good lord that title, it just means everything right now and it’s stunning. I loved Crow throughout Bad Magic and so wanted him to be open with how he feels about Regis and about Jonathan. But this goes even deeper with the feels and Crow owned me over and over again. The way he feels for Regis, himself and his growth of emotion toward Jonathan… *sigh*

Oh Jonathan. How can you not love a hero whose morals and honorability are slightly skewed when it comes to protecting who he loves? And when Regis is kidnapped and he has to lean on Crow, the man who once threatened to skin him and the man he really doesn’t like nor trust, things start to get interesting.

I love once again the world that this series is set in, it’s so much fun, intriguing and really got sexy with this book. Jonathan needing to become a master and Crow his slave… good lord, can someone give a girl a fan? I thought the scene where Crow gets his cuffs and was marked was hot but then… it got so much better. Damn. The UST between Jonathan and Crow is so intense that I gripped my Nook so hard my fingers were tingling. I needed these two to give in so badly and yet I absolutely adored why they didn’t. The love and respect they have for Regis is amazing. They are all amazing and I am a mess from this book.

Regis, my always grumpy but lovely ginger. You were the focal point of this story though your voice lacked in numbered pages. Yet, even without your POV being prominent you were there, always on the mind and in the hearts of the two men who would risk their lives for you. Yup, you certainly have two men who want you.

So without going into a bunch of detail and spoiling the book I will tell you how worthy this series is. It’s fun, it’s snarky, it’s intense and it’s sexy and now that I am done with this book, I know it’s not over.

Boy oh boy oh boy was this book a lesson in edging… yeah, it went a bit kinky there for a bit and it was so good. I mean, Crow and what he learns about himself and all we get with that and then Jonathan; we kinda knew he liked the whole dommy/toppy deal from book one but we get more and then there is a bossy Regis… I need a drink and some sort of release from all the sexual tension in this book. Did I mention how good it was?

Once again, a great set of supporting characters share the pages with our three men and Athea, I totes agree with your summary of Chartreuse. HA! That dragon slays… pun intended.

So, I haven’t said much have I? Oh well, that is me with reviews when I love a book and love this I did so much. I need the next one to see how this all plays out and how the three men work, in every way and position together. *grins*

Feather Fall, what an amazing title for an amazing story about submission in every way. To submitting your will, control and desires and knowing your submission is the strongest thing you have to offer.

Soo, Feather Fall you say?

I counted the days till its release and have been re-reading bits here and there since I finished it the day it was finally out.

You see? I'm absofuckinglutely in LOVE.

So in love with Crow. In love with this story. Super in like with Jonathan and well, I've always had a soft spot for our feisty Regis.

But yeah, Crow.

This was everything I wanted to see, hear and feel from him and more than I hoped for him. Almost. I mean, honestly, the End arrived too fast! There is so much more to tell. And to confess. *sigh*

So when Crow and Jonathan set out to rescue their beloved Regis they see and feel so much, it's a tangled mess at times, in a good way, and made me ache and hurt a million times over.

It was a great adventure, sexually frustrating with beautiful revelations of secrets, feelings and emotions.

They learn to tolerate, like and finally trust each other.

Still, they keep everything hidden as best as they can, bottled up inside, deny themselves and continue to work as a (wonderfully amazing) team to free their boy.

I was dying for their reunion! The adventure was a beautiful torture! Fun, fun, fun but not knowing when they'd see each other again, healthy and in one piece, hopefully, was simply torture.

When they finally meet again my heart broke all over again.

Crow. My beautiful, sweet, sweet, sweet, fragile thing you.

It wasn't quite the reunion I'd been aching for, but understandably, I guess, the best outcome for now. There is a reason I'm saying for now *grin* because there is no way this is over yet! *sigh*

Please, don't let it be over...

I was a little surprised that Jonathan took over a role I hadn't really seen coming. What with Regis and Crow's history I'd thought he would have a stronger need for them to stay together...

Gosh, this book was so much fun!
That (clever) title now really hits home.

*sniff*

Thank you Ev, for such a wonderful adventure and amazing characters.

Did you think you'd make your readers cry? I did. A few times.

Give Crow all my love.

I feel so dirty reading this book.

description

“I think—I think I’m in love,” Crow choked out.
Get rid of him now, before he steals your mate, Chartreuse said grimly.

But... I liked it.

Although I feel the relationship development between Jonathan and Crow could have been better executed. I think their feelings could have been more complex than just hatred, guilt and sexual desire. The problem with this series is that I fail to feel any form of empathy towards any of the characters. I can never fully comprehend what Regis, Jonathan or Crow are thinking because their thought processes are rarely explored deeply enough for my liking. I don't understand the motives for their actions; I only know they are doing it.

That was great. I enjoyed this more than the first book. I'm not the hugest fan of polyamory situations, but the build-up between Crow and Jonathan was incredible, and I wish there was more of them actually. Some of the things that happened seemed a bit superfluous and didn't add very much to the plot, but overall it was a satisfying read.

M/M paranormal
NOTE: Despite it being marketed as a MMM, I would argue this is M/M with potential for MMM that doesn't happen in this story.
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

Hmmm, where to start? First off, I have not read the previous story. I kind of felt that you needed to read the first story in order to truly understand where the characters were coming from and what was going on at the very beginning of book two. So, I would conclude that I was lost at the beginning of book two.

This just was OK for me. The build up was intense and there were a lot of emotions throughout the story, however, I had a difficult time connecting with the characters.

Jonathan is somewhat conflicted throughout this story. He loves Regis, and despite his kicking and screaming (inside), he falls for Crow as well. He seems to be somewhat broody and was definitely not warm and fuzzy. However, he is admirable and noble, tries very hard to stick to his own moral code and allows the guilt to eat at him throughout the story.

Then you have Crow. At the beginning, it seemed that Crow was going to be the lose canon on this book. However, he was just as noble and honorable as Jonathan. He demonstrated what true love could be - a loss for him and a gain for someone else. He was willing to sacrifice his happiness, morals and life for those he loved. All throughout this story, you catch hints of what Crow had with Regis, but the story is somewhat muddled by what he is now feeling for Jonathan. Crow struggles with how he can love more than one man.

Finally, you have Regis. For being powerful, we never truly grasp an understanding as to how the slavers are able to capture and keep Regis. I felt his part in the story was minimal at best, despite the other two characters pining after him. I didn't really understand why - he seemed the most selfish and petty of the three characters. He also seemed to be the most demanding of the characters. Even though he has a history with Crow, Regis seems to throw those feelings, that relationship away - he's more invested in Jonathan right now...that's the key though, he's invested right now. In the brief glimpse we see of Regis, it seems to me his character would be the most fickle when it comes to keeping a partner - he doesn't really feel invested in his relationship with Jonathan.

So, while this book had great potential, I just didn't really get in to it in the end. The sexual tension between Jonathan and Crow is high, but nothing ever really comes of it - a small scene that was anticlimatic for me. Oh well, can't love them all.

Well, what can I say? I got exactly what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Except maybe if there was more. Because, you know, there could be. Hint, hint.

I loved the plot of this book, possibly more than the other one. Although things were tense and crazy in book 1, this one had a bit more of an adrenaline rush about it. I was constantly waiting for Crow and Jonathan to give in to their needs and attraction, constantly waiting for the other shoe to stop and for things to get all crazy again.

I absolutely loved that we got to see how real and vulnerable Crow can be and see more of his chemistry with Jonathan. He was such an awesome character in book 1 that I desperately wanted him to have his own book, and he got it.

When it comes to Peter, I'd love for him to get his own story, maybe when he'd old enough for the x-rated parts. He seemed so sweet and lovely. I could see him and Crow getting on really well together.

It broke my heart to see that Crow was so stuck. He loved Regis, wanted Jonathan and couldn't have either of them, because he was 'just' Regis' best friend and only lusted after by Jonathan. It completely killed me, every time he did whatever was in his power to help Jonathan remain faithful to Regis, even though it broke his heart every time.

Ugh! The feels in this book were just off the charts. It's definitely my favourite of the two, but I definitely hope there's more to come. If it were up to me, this series would go on forever. I don't want to stop reading about these characters.

This series has just become a top-priority re-read for me.

Favourite Quote

I have a few, so bear with me.

“Regis.
Bright hair and sharp eyes. Gentle hands and sweet kisses. He remembered Regis more clearly than he remembered himself, and he clung to that memory like a drowning man clutching a piece of driftwood.”

““Should I kiss him for you?”
“Crow.”
“I could bring you one back,” he offered.”

“He looked at Jonathan and thought; This is the man who destroyed my life.”

This is the type of book that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole book. I could not stop reading it once I started. It was adventurous, it was maddening, it was truly amazing.

At first I really though that Crow was going to be a selfish jerk. I thought he was going to do what he had to do to split up Regis and Jonathan. I thought he was manipulating and heartless. But I was completely wrong about him. He turned out to be very honorable and a true friend. He was willing to break his own heart and give his life for the two men that he loved. He was also going to keep it to himself that he loved them both because he did not want to cause them any problems. I believe that Crow thinks that he does not deserve to be loved because his "mother" created him from a crow so therefore in his eyes he is a monster without a heart.

Jonathan is the one that I really liked in this story. No matter how hard it seemed he tried he fell in love with Crow even though he loved Regis. He felt guilty about it but he accepted that he loved Crow even though he was not he did not plan to act on it and hurt Regis. He tried to be noble. He tried to avoid those feelings but I believe that they are much stronger then lust as far as what he feels for Crow.

Regis in a way kind of upset me because he acts like the time between the three of them is only temporary even though he has both of these men falling over themselves to try to make him happy and let's not forget to rescue him. He is in my opinion kind of selfish because he never admits that he loves Crow and makes everything out to be nothing more then wanting them to ok sleep together and get it out of their system. He even tells Crow as much and I think that even though nothing was ever said it was hurtful to Crow because he was basically nothing more then a hole to feel to make Regis's lust go away. As I said was not to impressed with him as far as relationship went where Crow is concerned. As a whole I think he is a good person but he is definitely flawed.

I really hope there is another bookin this series because I feel there is so much more to this story. And I cannot wait to see where everything goes between the three of them and I want to see if Regis can change my mind about him.

****Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®****

Feather Fall is the continuation of the Spell Slave series in which we have magic, action, violence, and dragons! While I still quite enjoyed this book, there were a few things that kept it from being as good as the first one.

Let’s talk about the good things first! I loved the tension between Crow and Jonathon; it was delicious. The pacing was good and kept me engaged. There were a couple of new characters introduced that I loved as well.

This book really focused on the relationship between Crow and Jonathon as most of it is them trying to rescue Regis. I would have liked to see more of them all together, but it was good to see them work out their differences. I still love Crow!

I missed Chartreuse, however. There are very few scenes with her and very little of her entertaining banter, which disappointed me. She seemed like an afterthought most of the time. I missed her humor lightening up the tension. This is a much darker book overall with quite a bit more graphic violence. Even the sexual tone is much rougher, I would almost say it could be called informal BDSM. This, in itself is not a bad thing, but different and not quite what I expected. Even though the blurb mentions that Crow is whipped, I wasn’t sure what that would look like.

The ending is a very tentative happy-for-now and I really hope there is another book. There is still so much to work out between these three and I love the world and these characters.

4 Hearts

I’m so invested in this world, these stories, and these characters that it isn’t even funny at this point.

Like book 1 this story ends with the reader knowing there’s more to come. The cliffhangers Evelyn Elliott writes are unique in the way they aren’t incredibly frustrating. I was completely satisfied with this ending and with know that the story between these men is far from over. I love the adventure that this author takes us on.

Jonathan and Regis have carved out a pretty happy life in their little world. Unfortunately it doesn’t last after a madman kidnaps Regis Jonathan pairs up with Crow to devise a plan on getting Regis back. With Crow and Jonathan’s short, heated history there’s tons of delicious tension between the two and with the added stress of trying to save the man they love, sparks fly like crazy!

I’m not going to give much away but there was a scene in this book involving Crow and Jonathan that left me panting. There were a couple intense ones but one particular that had my mouth drop to the floor. I tacked on an extra .5 star for that scene alone. It was so damn good. The majority of the story features Jonathan and Crow so the emotional battle between the two is captivating. So good and so well written…

I adored this story and the series. This isn’t a standalone so I highly recommend getting book 1 to start your adventure…!!

Feather Fall by Evelyn Elliot (MMM,Romance,BDSM,Fantasy)

A copy of this book was provided to me by Inked Rainbow Reads in exchange for an honest review.

***3 STARS***

Ok, so, I love reading menages...but this one wasn't really a MMM. The synopsis hinted that it was, but really, the three MCs doesn't get together til the very end. AND, they're not even together as a true menage. It's more like 2 guys (the couple) plus 1 guy.

Regis is a powerful magic user who gets kidnapped. How he gets kidnapped when he's supposed to be powerful is a wonder to me. Anyway, Regis is in a relationship with Jonathan, and used to be in a relationship with Crow. Crow and Jon teams up to find Regis and during their little search, they realize that they're also attracted to each other. I liked the sexual tension between them. I was rooting for it. but somewhere along the way, the story got sorta confusing to me. They did a lot of things that they could have easily avoided. I think they suck as an investigative team. lol.

I can only give this 3 stars. I loved the fantasy world buildup, and I liked Jon and Crow...if they're a single couple. I didn't connect well with Regis. This wasn't a MMM I was looking forward to. I guess book 3 will have more of the three of them together. Maybe I'll read it just for Crow.
