He was my brother's best friend, my first crush, my first love...my first everything.
And then he betrayed me.
How many times have I thought about it? How many times have I relived the moment when I found out he left town without ever saying a word?
And how long has the memory of him consumed my every waking thought?
Three years.
That’s how long it’s been since I’ve seen or heard from him, the only man I ever loved.
The man I now despise.
But suddenly, without warning, Landon Hill is back. And to make matters worse, he’s somehow become rich beyond imagination, and he’s opening some mega business in town and walking around like he owns everything in sight.
Including me.
But I’ll never be able to forgive him, even if the fire still rages between us. In the end, I know that he’s never to be trusted. He’s a filthy liar.
This is the first book that I have read by Paige North but it has certainly made me want to read more of her work. Landon broke Taryn's heart when he walked out of her life 3 years ago and she never heard from him again. That was until her friend convinced her to go out to a club for a few drinks and they decided to crash a private party. As soon as Taryn heard his voice she knew she was in trouble; Landon's voice still had the same affect on her.
Things hadn't been easy for Taryn since her Mother passed away from cancer and she had to drop out of university to help her Father. She went through the motions day by day but she wasn't living the life she had always dreamed of. Landon's home life was pretty awful; he had to get away to make a better life for himself and he did.
Landon is now a successful billionaire and he has returned to his hometown and back into Taryn's life. When they are finally together it is everything Taryn dreamed it could be and more! The sex is amazing and Landon makes Taryn feel like he really cares for her. But then Landon goes back to his uncaring ways and Taryn is left feeling used until Landon shows up at her place and they have sex again.
Will this be their second chance to have a life together? Why did he leave without telling Taryn? Why did he never contact her in all those years? Why did it take him 3 years to return? If this wasn't enough of a cliffhanger; there is more to come! Taryn has an opportunity for a chance of a lifetime and this time she is going to be the one walking away and not telling Landon. As she is leaving she finds an opened letter addressed to her brother indicating he has cancer......
Needless to say, after all of this I can't wait to read the next book in the series because I am hooked!!! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted this on another website on March 27, 2016.
Although I really want to know what happens to Landon and Taryn, I don't understand why it takes FIVE separate books to get it done! At this point Taryn is all about anger and revenge for something that happened 3 years ago. It will be interesting to see how Landon will react.
I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book that I read by Paige North, which was well written. I enjoyed this story, which was entertaining, and the characters of Landon and Taryn. This was a different storyline, but it keeps you reading to the end to find out what happened. Not only does it involve romance, but it was somewhat humorous as well. Taryn has had a lot of unfortunate circumstances happen in her life—she dropped out of college after her mother died of cancer; her father was in depression; and Landon, who broke her heart and her brother’s best friend, left without saying goodbye and she never heard from him. Now, Landon is back after leaving for three years without saying goodbye to Taryn as a successful billionaire to launch the Prestige Sports Medicine Center that he owns. Why did Landon leave and return after three years? How did Landon become a billionaire? Will Taryn be able to forget and forgive Landon? I cannot wait to read the next book to find out what happened next from the cliffhanger.
Anything Hannah Ford endorses, I know I'm going to love! Filthy Liar was no different! I love second chance romances! This one started off jumping right into the action. Gone for three years without a word, Landon Hill is back in Orting and back in Taryn's life. She wants answers, but, Landon's slow to give them. Now Taryn's hit with the chance of a lifetime that she's been waiting for! Her feelings for Landon still had her off balance though. Then at the end, we're hit with a cliffhanger with something I NEVER would've seen coming! North is off to a blazing hot start, can't wait for book 2! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book as an arc for an honest review. Taryn's heart was broken when her brothers best friend up and left 3 years ago after they shared an intimate night together. She runs into him when he comes back to their hometown. She is still in love with him after all those years and tells him to leave her alone. He has other plans for her and she falls prey to him again only to realize how stupid she is. I was disappointed how quickly she gave in to him. This is a good start to the series and the cliff hanger will kill you!
The book seemed to drag on and on, describing things in the room that really no one at least me cared about. I almost gave up reading it due to this but kepted reading. It ended like most series were you have to know what happens next. Let's hope she talks about the characters more then the items on the table, or the color of the drapes and flooring.
This book has definitely caught my attention. I am still trying to guess why Landon left Washington and Taryn three years ago. She hasn't had it easy the last few years and finding that note from her brother's jacket has me concerned where things are headed. Don't know if I can handle a tear jerker but looking forward to book 2! Great start Paige North!
As much as I love second chance romances I did NOT like this one. It started of okay and I thought I could get into it but the heroine was way too immature not to mention the hero being a bit too cocky and egotistical. I was really looking for something I truly liked about the characters to keep me reading but overall it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I don't like to book bash. But this series was a rip off. Books 2-5 didn't go past 50%. 2.99 for books that ended before the halfway point. And why do you suppose? So we would spend another $2.99 to finish the story. One book actually ended at 16%. And another at 27%. Could have been a good story if you didn't feel taken advantage of.
OMG! This novella is good that it hurts when it ended. I know there's more, obviously but that was too short. Seriously. I need book 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and so on...
Gosh the ending of this book really got me!! I don't know about Landon coming back and messing with her feelings!! I wonder how she's going to leave now after the news about her brother!! Can't wait for the next one!
think this book will probably be a bit of a grower. This first in the series basically is a bit forward and backward between the main two characters. There is a darkness and brooding that comes through...
Looking forward to the next book. I watched and didn't see anything else for this author but so far I have enjoyed reading her work and look forward to additional books!
Unexpected cliffhanger. Not. Cool. Might have rated it higher if not for that, but really not too high. Descriptions were tedious, and she really didn't put up much of a fight.
Why? Why do I go into these thinking one will be enough?
So here are my thoughts after reading the first 3. I want to like Taryn, but OMG she is so whiny and keeps harping on the past. Either you are over it or you're not and you can't have it both ways.
Landon needs to get his shit together and FAST.
I don't get the short timeline of events, and the young age of these two, but I'll over look it for now. I have to read the 4th installment just b/c I need to know and am a glutton for punishment.
