A wonderful novel that brings the Old Testament bible to a very personal level as you fall in love with each character. I had tears flowing at the end. ***** Kara
What a great book. A romance suspense novel set in the biblical time period following the death of the Levite’s concubine and the subsequent war between the eleven tribes and the tribe of Benjamin…starting in Judges chapter 19…the fictional story follows the capture of a beautiful young woman from her hometown of Shiloh…who is taken against her will by a handsome but difficult Benjamite warrior to the city of Bethel to become his wife.
I would recommend this book to anyone not yet married, and to those who are married but want to improve their relationship with their spouse through prayer, patience, and faith in God to be able to not only change us for the better, but also to improve our partners in God-led spiritual growth.
The author’s deep insight into what makes for a positive marital relationship…combined with the wisdom that tells us in practical life terms that there is a gap between what we are and what we would like to be…that shows us our need for God’s intimate participation in our lives in order to make any real and lasting progress.
A page-turner from the start…memorable characters…and deep human relations issues that touched me and encouraged me in my journey of faith following Jesus Christ.
God has been using Judges 21 to minister to me for several years, so I was excited to see this book about fictional couple that came together based on the festival. I enjoyed the way the author incorporated Scripture, fully developed the characters, and showed the spiritual and emotional growth of the main couple. There are a lot of minor typos that could be fixed with better editing but it doesn't take away from the good story. I would recommend it to anyone who is struggling with seeing how God is working through circumstances of our lives that we wouldn't choose for ourselves.
this was a book written by an acquaintance who worked with Sarah at her school...so I read her book just to see what it was like. Well, I really enjoyed the storyline, but the grammar was pretty bad and it could use some editing. Overall, I would like to read more of her books...she shows great promise as an author.
This was a very enjoyable story and could have been five stars if not for two issues. There were far too many commas, making a lot of the sentences stilted. The other issue was a glaring chronological error.
