A best friend, a boyfriend, and a coveted spot in the talent show. Ordinary things for most teens, but uncommon pleasures for Ainsley Blue. For fifteen years, Ainsley has zigzagged across the country, moving to a new town every few months. Now, after a year at the same school, Ainsley believes her life is finally normal. Then one afternoon, she comes home to find Mum packing, and everything changes again.
Heartbroken, Ainsley sends a wish into the universe. All she wants is to have a home she never has to leave and to understand why they live like drifters. Desiree, a stressed-out hippie genie, arrives to grant Ainsley’s wish but warns that the truth may not be easy to accept.
Ainsley insists she can handle whatever happens, but little can prepare her for what she’s about to learn.
Mystery and fantasy author Shawn McGuire loves creating characters and places her fans want to return to again and again. She started writing after seeing the first Star Wars movie (that's episode IV) as a kid. She couldn't wait for the next installment to come out so wrote her own. Sadly, those notebooks are long lost, but her desire to tell a tale is as strong now as it was then. She lives in Wisconsin near the beautiful Mississippi River and when not writing or reading, she might be baking, crafting, going for a long walk, or nibbling really dark chocolate. Here we go again this series has been like a friend who is along for the adventure as you figure out life and where you want to be and what you want to take along with you. I have loved every book in this series each new charge tugs at my heart strings and of course i love the journey of Desiree and finally she gets the ending to her wish that started 5 books ago. I would love to see a new series maybe that spins off from this one. I sad to see the series end but it been an incredible journey.
When I started reading this series, it was simply because I had read other books by this author and liked them. These stories do not shy away from difficult subjects, yet make you feel compassion for those who need it. I have greatly enjoyed these books and am sorry to see them end. Never give up hope. These books along with the Whispering Pines series are amazing and make you feel like you know these people. I would definitely recommend these.
I've come to expect nothing but great words from Shawn McGuire, she makes you feel like you are participating in the series with the actual characters. They become your best friends or greatest enemies. My only wish is that she was going to write more books for this series. I guess I'll just have to wait for Reeva's next adventure!
Poignant, heart-rendering, emotional, sweet, interesting, life lessons, lovely characters. These books have them all and then some. I so want more! P!ease!
Deseree was a Guide (actually a genie, but they don't care for that name) for forty five years. She'd loved Kaf nearly that long as well. She never told him , he was her boss after all. Was there any chance Kaf returns her feelings?
“Back Together Again” is an epic ending to a wonderful series.
I absolutely loved the new charge Ainsley Blue. She was a modern human version of the hippie genie, Desiree. Ainsley understood far more than a young girl her age should. Her story started so sad. My heart went out to her and hoped she would make her wish very soon. Ainsley's insights into the world around her enabled her to reach her wish's conclusion without too much intervention from Desiree.
I also loved the new genie in training, Clay. When I read his story my heart melted. Although his is a craft of fiction, there is an element of truth. Every day there are kids in Clay’s shoes all across America. All of them need their own hippie genies.
What was the best part of “Back Together Again”? The conclusion of Desiree’s wish. In granting Ainsley’s wish, Desiree got the chance to explore herself and decide what she truly wanted in life. It’s easy to point out the flaws in others and provide a pathway to fix them. It’s a lot harder to look at your own flaws and be willing to take the steps to correct them.
McGuire did an excellent job concluding this series. Wishes were fulfilled and the potential for satisfied futures came through on the pages. Once again, McGuire’s writing was well done—intriguing story, well-developed characters, and a great parting message. The lesson in “Back Together Again”? In order to live a full life, you have to let others in. Living life alone isn’t right for neither humans nor genies [smile].
Thank you Shawn McGuire for the “The Wishmakers” series. Do yourself a favor and read it today!
I have really enjoyed each story in this series. This one was a little unexpected. I really fell in love with Ainsley, she is older emotionally than her physical years. It broke my heart how accepting she was having to pick up and move when she finally felt like she'd found a place she belonged with her first best friend and first boyfriend and being able to compete in the talent show. I'm glad that she finally decided to start demanding answers from her "mum". I loved the introduction of Clay and how he could relate to Ainsley. Because Ainsley is so wise beyond her years she was able to comprehend once she accepted that her wish was being granted. I love how she connected with Mina and her Lefse production. Mina really helped Ainsley a lot while she was there in their Minnesotan town (the name escapes me). I love how Bryce and her best friend helped her decide to let the man know where she was as he'd been looking for her for 15 years. The ending was a little bittersweet and I find I'd like to know a little more about what happens to Judy and Desiree and Kaf, just to give complete conclusion to this series. Ms. McGuire is an amazing author that really makes you think about the material you are reading. I do know that is keeps this reader wanting more of her adventures in whatever story she is currently writing. I'm so glad I came across her because I will definitely follow her throughout her career. I was given this book free of charge in exchange for an honest unbiased review.
In this bitter-sweet finale, it's not just Ainsley (the wishee) who has to face uncomfortable truths, Desiree does too. With Mystic Lodge in permanent chaos, some Guides welcome change, some don't. Kaf is back but Desiree doesn't know why. Olanna continues to be her own unhappy self, causing trouble for Desiree whenever she can. It is through this mire that Desiree needs to face her own truths and do what she knows is right.
In this final book, Shawn McGuire continues with her amazing storytelling. This could have been dark and depressing, considering the topics raised, but no! Instead, this book will leave you feeling encouraged and hopeful for the future.
Exceptionally well-written, with no editing or grammatical errors that I found, this book is guaranteed to sweep you away. Highly recommended!!!

Epic conclusion to a fabulous series. I loved Ainsley and her story line. Great twist! Desiree was groovy as always, and I am happy with how her arc finished.
