Aftershock

Rate this book
This thrilling sequel to Shatterbelt begins as Tracy's worst fears are realised in the earthquake. The poignancy of the chaotic aftermath is vividly expressed as the survivors try to establish order in their lives. For Tracy there is no peace as she has further premonitions of a tidal wave. The bursting of the dam in a strong aftershock is nearly fatal for her. In Thiele's inimitable style, the story builds to an electrifying climax and ends with a gentle denouement in which Tracy finds serenity.

A great children’s book that I was curious to read before recommending someone read it. I respect Colin Thiele as a good Austral author.

Read this a long time ago but can remember enjoying it. Not as much as Shatterbelt but still a childhood classic.
