The Sundered Crown Saga

Danon: A Sundered Crown Tale

Rate this book
'The darkest recesses of the world whisper a name. A name which brings dread and woe. Enemy of man and bane of light is he; the betrayer, the destroyer of hope and life. His servants worship his wickedness as we worship Niveren's glory, for they believe that he will return and make all bow to his will.' - Teachings of the Niveren cult

As with all things, the truth is not so clear cut. Nothing begins evil and in Danon's case that is true. This is the story of Niveren and his brother Danon, of how they were made by the gods and how they ended up shaping our world, for both good and ill...

The Beginning!

This short story is a Sundered Crown tale, written in the world of "Nighblade". A well written back story about the beginning of the gods, their battles between good and evil and their children. The main characters are Niveren and Danon, brothers. One of light and one of darkness. It ends with a final battle between the brothers and how mortal man came to be. I am totally impressed by the amount of information packed into this short story. I liked it very much. So, where does the story go from here? I guess we'll have to read the Sundered Crown trilogy!............

It is great to see the context that underpins the Sundered Crown books. The history behind it all is fascinating and Matthew provides depth to his heroes and villains here which may surprise a few.

I read this book after reading every book in the 'Sundered Crown' Universe. I would recommend everyone read this at some point who likes these novels as provides a different perspective to everything that transpires thereafter.

sadly, this is not for me. The writing style failed to grab me and the plot failed to interest me. As for the characters, I couldn't connect, found them boring.

This is a quick read but don't let it fool you. It's got depth and is thought provoking too.
