A Netflix Original series! The second book in the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling series, with over 7 million copies in print!"Terrifyingly fun! Delivers big thrills and even bigger laughs."--Jeff Kinney, author of the #1New York TimesbestsellerDiary of a Wimpy Kid The zombies are disappearing. This might seem like a good thing, since zombies eat your brains, but normal human kid Jack Sullivan is suspicious. He keeps hearing an eerie shrieking noise that seems to be almost summoning the zombies—but to where, and for what (probably) foul purpose? Jack, his three best friends (maybe the only people left on Earth), and their pet monster Rover need to get to the bottom of this. Along the way they encounter a lot more than they bargained for, including a giant Wormungulous, a pizza parlor monster hangout, an ancient evil who destroys worlds, and a stereo system that is totally the bomb. Can Jack figure out why the zombies are vanishing . . . before he and his friends are next?Told in a mixture of text and black-and-white illustration, this is the perfect series for any kid who's ever dreamed of starring in their own comic book or video game.

I loved The Last Kids on Earth. I would always present the story as "Wimpy Kid meets The Walking Dead, and I guess the authors heard me, because the second book is basically that - a parade of zombies drawn to a certain area along with a villainous monster working against the kids. This story continues to be a fun, madcap tale, and I'd go as far to say the second book is even better than the first. It's just a ton of readable fun, and I can't wait for the next installment. Very well done as usual.
A wonderful sequel to the first book! Giggles, zombies, monsters, pizza, what could you possibly want more? :P
The book jumps right into the action with the Wormungulous and from there on it is a non-stop ride through this world. A world that now also has other monsters in it, monsters that might not actually be willing to kill, but are actually happy to have a new, safer, world to stay in. I really loved their addition, it was so much fun that we didn't only have brainless monsters, but instead had some guys we could form alliances with.
I do have to say that I was fooled with who the baddy was in the group. I thought it was x, but instead it was y! Luckily, very luckily I wasn't the only one who was fooled, everyone was fooled by that character! Yay! Well, OK, not yay, but you get why I am yaying, I am not alone! :)
This time we have some zombies that are disappearing for no reason, they are being lured to something, in massive hordes while listening to some shrieking sound. On the one hand, I didn't mind that the zombies were leaving, but on the other hand I was worried something worse would happen. I mean, there must be something huge that causes the zombies to disappear and I don't want to meet it.
I also loved that we found out more and more about the world as it is now. We find out how things got so messed up, and also about a big, creepy, giant boss that is lurking around somewhere.
Next to all the monsters we also have the story part in which Jack learns to trust his friends more, that while he is afraid to lose them, he shouldn't lock them up to keep them safe. I really loved that this was added, it gave depth to Jack (though he is still an idiot at times), but also added a new dimension to the story. It made it a bit more real (yes, I know this is all fiction, but I do hope you get what I mean).
I have to give extra credit points to Dirk. It is just so much fun how tough he looks, but then he wants to make a garden. He also knows how to sew, and I just laughed so hard. Tough guy with a soft heart inside.
Of course the book is also still filled with illustrations, and they made the story oh so much more fun. I just loved seeing all the monsters, see all the adventures.
The ending was terrific, but it didn't feel like a cliffhanger. It did leave stuff open for the next book, so I am really excited about that.
One thing I would like is seeing more humans, other humans. I wish they would go search for other humans, I am sure there must be others who also survived. I want to hear about their stories. See how they survived.
All in all, I really loved this book, and I can't wait for the next book. Can't wait to see what is happening in there, will it be the end? Will there be more books?
"Friends are important. Family is important. Maybe the most important thing. But even a post-apocalyptic action hero can't keep them safe all the time."
These books are great. It was so fun to watch Jack grow through this second book. In the first, he learned June wasn't a damsel in distress. In this one, he realized that he couldn't do everything, that he couldn't save everyone, and that his friends could feel like Jack doubted them when he wouldn't let them do the dangerous things.
One thing I didn't like so much about this book compared to the first one was that it didn't seem like the creators spent as much time aligning all the pictures with the text. Like, some of the images didn't add commentary to the story, just an image, or they repeated something already said and the picture would have been better off a couple paragraphs earlier. But I'm not complaining too hard because I can't imagine how difficult it would be to do some of that mapping. Think about it. You have everything in place. You go through the draft and revise something. Whelp, now all the pictures don't match up just right and are trying to go on different pages. Sounds like a nightmare to me.
A great thing this book did that I didn't notice so much in the first one was the use of Chekhov's Gun - the thing in theater where if a gun is placed on the stage in an act, then the gun must be used by the end of that act. So essentially, everything included must be used and have a purpose. This book did that. There were so many little things, down to Quint going ham building monster-attack weapons, that had a purpose later.
I thought the action at the end was a little drawn out - like the plot tried to have that intense climax for the last 80 pages of the book. I got that intense feeling for maybe 30 pages, but couldn't hold onto it anymore. The average middle school reader doesn't consume 80 pages in one sitting. They have a shorter attention span than I do, and I was getting tired of the action. So maybe the ending should have been a little tighter, but overall, good stuff.
With his new team and beast pet by his side, Jack is able to continue his survival. Many surprises await for them which include monster warriors, a giant worm and an unexpected occurrence with the zombies. Another great read with the same thrills as the first, but with a few new things. A- (91%/Excellent)
5/5⭐️ da ish zu krass gsii omg, de plot twist hetti so nöd erwartet, die story het sich so cool entwickelt!!! mit dene monster und mit dene böse "götter" (?) und au die fründschaft zwüsched allne ish so ugh😭🫶🏻🫶🏻 i lieb alli so sehr, on to the third one!!
I love listening to this series. The narrator, Robbie Daymond, does such a good job bringing the stories to life. Daymond really brings out the humor and zany adventures! Zombie Parade is the 2nd book in this series. The stories build on each other, so it's pretty important to read/listen to them in order. But at an average of about 5 hours per story....it's not hard to work through this series in a short amount of time. Great listening entertainment for kids...and adults!
I enjoyed listening to the newest tale of the monster-pocalypse while commuting to work and working in my yard. I love the humor and fun in these stories. The characters are awesome, the humor is zany and the plots are just fun! This is a great action series for kids. Nothing age inappropriate, some slightly gross monsters to battle, and a great group of kids facing a new, much more slimy world with great ingenuity.
Very entertaining! I'm moving on to book 3 -- The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King! This series has been made into a show for Netflix. Now that I've read through the second book, I'm going to start watching! Book 1 was the show's first season. Season 2 coming April 17th, 2020. I hope the series is as fun as the books!
The last kids on Earth and the zombie parade Is a great book! Its about Jack and his freands who think they might be the last people on Earth because of the monster invasion! They meet a man like creatcher named Thrall and he shows Jack and his freands his hideout that he shares with other monsters! But every day there are some weird sounds and lots of zombies are disappearing! What's happening to the zombies who really is Thrall and what is making that sound, find out when you read this awesome sci fi book The last kids on Earth and the zombie parade!
Great fun, pitched mainly at 7-11 but enjoyable by older kids. Well written, exciting, and has some good messages about friendship and judging monsters before you know them. I look forward to reading more in the series!
Kids find monster in mall. Zombie parade and monsters in a pizza place.
It is creepy with lot of running around. it does not have the traditional carnival tent, but it got a lot of parade and creepy monsters and a lot of running around.
Jack learned a lot about befriending monsters. He and his best friend Quine, the brainy kid who invented weapon for kids to deal with monsters, is trying to solve a mystery.
This would work for dark academy and dystopia square too.
The zombies are disappearing. And there is a strange sound at night. The kids found that the zombie has a massive parade. They wanted to find out more. So the plan is to capture a zombie and use the zombie to lead to the source of this mystery.
The trapping of a zombie is kind of fun. And then they found out the world ending plot by someone they know already.
Plots twists.
I get to read this slower and enjoy it a bit more.
Do you like apocalyptic books? If so this is the right book for you! The genre of this book is action and survival. I think this is a great book for readers who like apocalyptic books because, it is about monsters and zombies invading the world. Jack and his friends who live in Wakefeild are trying to save the world from Rezzoch, a big evil monster that wants to destroy the world. But Monsters and zombies are getting in Jack and his friends' way of finding out were a shrieking noise is taking all the zombies. So then they found out a way to get to the shrieking noise and find out what was happening and they found out that a monster tree was eating the zombies' brains to make a portal so Rezzoch can come to the Earth and destroy it. But they also find out that their monster friend Thrull betrayed them and was helping the tree make the portal and Jack and his friends had to fight Thrull and defeat him. The type of conflict of this story is external conflict and it is character vs character because, Jack and his friends (the protagonists) are trying to save the world from Rezzoch (the antagonists). The Last kids on Earth and the Zombie Parade is an amazing book to read! Let me tell you why. The author Max Brallier makes a lot of books that are made for kids and teens. They are super fun to read and he likes making apocalyptic books. He used to be a video game designer which makes sense because, he makes books that are fun like video games. Also this book is super fun to read because, it has so many cliffhangers. It is about monsters and zombies and a boy named Jack that has a very small group of friends who are trying to save the world huge and powerful monster who is trying to enter the world from a portal. This book also has many illustrations on almost every page. It also has about 30 chapters and about 5 pages a chapter. I think this is a great book because, I love when children are put as the main characters and I love survival. I think this book is interesting because, this book and the 1st book have so many twists in them. This also contains many cliffhangers and is easy to read. It contains illustrations so you can get a good picture of what is happening. It has a lot of real life things in the book like OREOS. It has a lot of comedy. I would rate this book as a 9 out of 10 because, it has all the things I am looking for except that there is a monster and big guys who want to destroy the world. In my opinion I would want a book just like this but there were no monsters and just kids trying to survive with a world filled with zombies and bad people and you are trying to survive. Like The Walking Dead except instead of adults as the main characters it's kids. I would recommend this book to people who like zombies, the show The Walking Dead, and or the movie The 5th Wave. This series is one of the best series I have been reading. If you are one of the people who I recommended this book to, you should definitely read this series even if you don't like reading just give it a try.

I'm such a fan of Middle Grade graphic novels. Not only are they a ton of fun, but they're so important in sparking a love of reading for kids who are intimidated by big chunks of text.
Brallier and Holgate do it again in this second book in THE LAST KIDS ON EARTH series, which follows self-proclaimed post-apocalyptic action hero Jack Sullivan. For me, what makes these books so flippin' brilliant is that Jack & Co. aren't just trying to survive during the apocalypse. They're having fun with it, giving themselves ridiculous quests (such as "Take a selfie with a zombie") to make life bearable.
ZOMBIE PARADE lacks the strength of characters in the first book -- June and Dirk take a backseat -- but it's just as hilarious. I had a big grin on my face the entire time I was reading.
This book was amazing. I loved this book because it's super entertaining and I just can't stop reading it. The worst part is finishing the book. This book is about a boy named Jack and his friends, Quint, Dirk, and June live during the worst time of there time, the zombie apocalypse. they meet awesome allies and terrifying enemies. Now Jack and his band of friends must fight to protect Earth. I recommend this book to people who love adventure, action, and has a great sense of humor.
It was good because they had fun and beat an evil tree that want to bring it´s master on earth. They had best tree house with a lot of weapons on the tree house just in case of the monsters that´s in their world to take over and eat the smaller monsters that are weak or useless so the master can get stronger then before when there where no monster in the world that the monsters had came from before the apocalypse had happened.
This book was recommended and lent to me by one of my students. A fun, monster-filled adventure! It was interesting to learn that the author, Max Brallier, is also the author and creator of the Eerie Elementary series under the pen name Jack Chabert.
Just finished read this book to my 7 year old last night. It was super cute! He really loved it and wants to read the next one in the series. Wasn't sure how he would like it but he ended up really into it and understood that just because the monsters were different didn't mean they were all bad!
