He turned the ignition on and all he got was sputtering. The engine would not engage. He tried over and over, but it didn’t work. He got out of the car, intending to take a look under the hood. Jim had barely cleared the car when the front of it was violently tossed up by something. The rear tires were still on the ground but the front was already up. The car’s frame protested in loud squeaks. It appeared like something heavy had climbed into the back of the truck. He fell on his butt as he backed away from it. The front tires reached high enough that it looked to Jim like the truck was going to topple backwards. It came crashing down and the tires were embedded a few inches into the ground. The hood popped open and flailed as the car noisily bounced a couple of times more, disrupting the peaceful morning air. Jim did not wait for anything else to happen. Jim had to slap her across the face to shock her back into reality. “Get the children inside! Now!” Download and discover why readers follow Lily Green. Scroll up and get the book now!
I really enjoyed the first two books and so was sure that the last book in the series would hold me just as enthralled. I was wrong on that point. The book seemed to start off very slowly with scenes that had things which happened without any explaination and so you could not fully engage. The characters even became fairly dull and less interesting.
Things did start to pick up as you got closer to the end, like the last 3-4 chapters. The ending surprised me since I had expected one thing and got something totally unexpected. While not my favorite , and there was no good reasoning on why things happened, it still was worth the read.
