The main story is so fluffy with bunnies and flowers on the side! The art style is too cute (so I'm gonna go look for her other series as well), and filler stories are interesting as well, especially the Greatest Common Denominator lol, it was hilarious!!
Have you seen the movie Frank? Find a way to see it if you haven't already, because it's good. Also, it has nothing to do with this manga besides the fact that both in the movie and this manga there are two painfully shy characters who wear a giant mask to cope with their anxiety.
See?
Anyways, it's a cute manga. There aren't a lot of yaoi or shounen-ai that deal with hikikomori, probably because in real life there is nothing attractive about reclusive adults refusing to leave their rooms and living on a steady diet of ramen and soft drinks, but Kashima makes it work.
She takes some liberties; in this case the reclusive man (Aisawa-san) works from home, lives alone, isn't filthy and manages to come outside from time to time. One thing, though; he is VERY anxious and has to wear his Deadmau5-esque bunny mask when going outside or when opening the door, which he has to do A LOT because he orders everything online. Anxiety, such a bitch.
All those packages happen to be delivered by newbie deliveryman Kajiyama-san who, instead of saying FUCK THAT NEW ROUTE PLEASE after seeing the giant bunny for the first time, takes a liking to the hermit and asks him out. There is hardly any drama, the story is very cute, dicks get to touch and Aisawa gets his freak on.
There are two more stories included in this manga, both of them are one chapter in length and as sweet as the tale of Aisawa and Kajiyama. One is shounen-ai and contains no smut, the other makes up for it by being 80% smut.
Kashima's art is nice and crisp, but unlike artists like Bohra Naono or Harada, there isn't anything that makes her style stand out amongst all the other yaoi manga and if I had to describe it in one word, that word would be 'generic'. Not bad, but also not worthy of a re-read any time soon.
All in all: it's cute, short, pretty much devoid of drama and funny. Read it if you're a yaoi fan!
This book collects three (very loosely connected) stories, the first being the title story, the longest and the best. It's about a delivery man and one of his customers - a strange hikikomori who always wears a huge rabbit mask. It quickly turns out that it's because he's REALLY shy, and the two of them fall in love (surprise!). It's fairly light and silly, but I have a thing for kinda useless semes (they're usually about 3000% kinder and more adorable than your average one) so I rather enjoyed this one. A nice portion of light fluff.
The second and third story were both set in highschool (one of my least favourite settings). The second story was about a piano player and the school council president, and had a very gentle feel to it. The third was about friends-turned-lovers, but here the seme was a bit too annoying (it was played for laughs, but honestly, a) why insist on penetration if one of you isn't ready and b) why not at least switch one, if only for fairness and so you can say you don't like it?) and I didn't like it as much. I was glad there was a short omake for the main story after it, otherwise I'd have ended that book feeling a bit unhappy. But the main story was really adorable so I can recommend it.
Story 1: Not as cute as I hoped. Maybe it's because I understand what having a form of generalized anxiety feels like, but I really hated seeing Kajiyama be so impatient with Aizawa. Seeing him go “doesn't he care at all" pissed me off so much because the author didn't even have to show me, I KNOW what overthinking and over-worrying looks like in someone with anxiety. I KNOW that working up the courage to text somebody, let alone while in the middle of a fight, has set him spiraling on his he should approach his text that he shouldn't be apologizing for anyway. So now so much time has passed that he feels you've gotten even angrier at him and he's even more anxious…
The way he yelled and pushed him out of his comfort zone instead of easing Aizawa out of the mascot helmet didn't make me care for them as a couple whenever there were cute moments.
Besides that, it also felt like 3 chapters weren't enough to have this story flow smoothly. Everything that happened at the amusement park felt like things were moving too fast. They didn't even take a moment to talk about what he said when they were alone. From there to the confession, it just felt rushed.
I love and support Aizawa. Kajiyama can eat rocks.
Story 2: Cuter. Pretty simple and I didn't hate either of the characters. I would've liked another chapter of them, honestly. Using the terms depressed and trauma like this was far-reaching.
Story 3: This was kind of ok. I was interested in the “does he actually like me" drama until what I thought would be dubious consent, turned into something too immature for me personally (like, guys… lube. Research, I beg you!). It made it so hard to read. On top of them not properly talking things out, it just kind of went back downhill for me.
Shy shut-in socially-awkward seme x upfront friendly and cheerful uke. I love uke's characterization so much. Upfront uke realy gives a different sparks. But it's too short. The conclusion is not really clear too. It's cute but full of plot holes ((like, why do he's always wear a rabbit mask? why choose rabbit? too many sub-questions for just this one topic!)).
