Integrity Taylor has regained possession of her ancestral lands - and inherited a whole host of new problems. The spectre of what really happened to her parents is casting a shadow over everything while Fomori demons are being sighted up and down the Highlands. It doesn't help that Aifric Moncrieffe still seems determined to see her dead and emerald eyed Byron remains stubbornly blind to his father's true nature.
Integrity is determined to stay in control of her own destiny, however, even if it means confronting the darkness across the Veil yet again. And at least she's still got a sense of humour...
Dang. I thought this was the last one! I was all prepared for it to be the last one! Another fiiiiiiiiiine book. And I don't mean fiiiiiiiine like sexy, just fiiiiiiiiiiiine.
This series is definitely getting better. In this one Integrity is facing threats from all sides. She still has Sidhe trying to kill her and now she finds out that the demons want her dead as well due to a prophecy. This one finally explained a lot more about her past and why everyone is out to get her. It also told us much more about Byron's father and why he wants Integrity dead. There were some really enjoyable moments and Integrity is a character that I finally like now. She is showing strength and doing what is right instead of just being an annoying and flirtatious person.
After thr games the MC and her crew of marry thrives, come together on the desolate lands of MCs long dead clan. And it's not pretty! The land was salted so that everything would die and never grow again. The building have the abandoned, returning to nature vibe. Then there is the land that used to be Ireland long ago. And what's inside.
Why?! How?! What in blazes makes you think Byron has what it takes to make my list of book boyfriends? Or any ones really? Not one redeeming quality, not an ounce of any attractive tendencies but he lusts after the h and really that's all the qualification he needs. NOT!
Byron finally caught on about Aifric. I know it has to be devestasting to find out your father is a serial killer/monster/villian etc etc. Thank goodness for Jamie's gift. Great plan Tegs! I can't wait for the next book!
Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book series to me. This was a fantastic read. The plot was fast-paced. Also, I really loved getting to know more about the characters and how some mysteries were solved in this book. I still love Integrity Adair. The rightful heir of the Adair Clan in Scotland. I still loved the sexual tension between Integrity and Bryon. I also really love Bob. Another thing that was great was the references to "Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera and The Lord of the Rings. I thought the action was amazing and the ending was really interesting. I can't wait to read Last Wish. Overall, an amazing read.
This book is weird for me as its moreish, the story involving the clans and how Integrity is slowly finding the missing puzzle pieces of the past is fantastic!
Integrity and Byron are getting a bit old, i think they needed to have consummated their relationship already, all the teasing of it gets a bit too much 3 books in, i mean how many times are they going to be naked and nothing happen???
The filler friends..... Its a huge pet hate of mine when in books people talk over each other and are Gobby Gabby's... this has a lot of chat filler i found i was scanning rather than reading as the group could go on for ages about the smell of farts, sexual innuendos and one liners.....
Still if that's the kind of book you like its brilliant, as the actual story itself and the writing for most part is page turning.
This was a rather decent book. The ending more than made up for the lollygagging with the story. I’m excited to see if Byron’s dad gets his comeuppance.
The whole demon thing is weird, I think there’s more to it. I’m not entirely sure another book could wrap up this series. However I’m going to continue.
What I like about this series is the cast of supporting characters, mainly Bob. He’s hysterical.
Yeah, I know, my reviews of this series are kinda all over the place. Wasn’t sure if I even liked the first book, absolutely loved the second and this one? I liked the story but there was just SO many words that didn’t do much or add to the furthering of the plot. For instance; the jokes and banter between Bob and the rest were a light repast in previous books, but, for me, in this installment they were way overdone and became annoying. It also felt like the author was trying to stretch out the word count near the end, as there were paragraphs and pages of filler while Lily was searching for Byron, etc. I ended up skimming more than I wanted to.
Still, as mentioned, the storyline itself is a great one and I did enjoy that. I do love the relationships LIly is building, the odd variety of friends she is making and the loyalty and love that is developing. SO…. Off to see how it all ends!
This third installment in the Highland Magic Series was the best so far. I just loved it! Integrity Adair is now the rightful heir of the Adair Clan Lands in Scotland and she sets off with the gang to see what awaits her there. It is pretty grim and there is a heap of work that needs to be done to make the place thriving once more and she needs more help than she currently has.
To help her, she calls in a favour of sorts. However, to fulfil the favour she has to enter the Veil once more and Integrity believes all will be ok as she survived it last time. Unfortunately luck is not completely on her side as demons are starting to come through the Veil and cause havoc in various places around Scotland. The Stewart, Aifric Moncrieffe, believes that all the demon problems are Integrity's fault. She, however, believes it is all down to him instead! Who is telling the truth this time?
The trip through the Veil is actually very successful, yet Integrity is determined to go back for something she has found in the Veil, but this time Byron Moncrieffe tries to join her. Shame he doesn't end up being the hero he wants to be!
Tegs ends up gaining a huge following and many people swear their fealty to her, which completely surprises her. It does show her how people value her for being just her and do not fear her based on the rumours of her Clan's past. I did love her plan at the end too!
I loved the tension in this book, both between Integrity and Byron and in the Veil. There were several moments when I was on the edge of my seat not sure what to expect, not sure I wanted to read on in case it didn't come out the way I wanted it to, but obviously I had to read on. I had to know! LOL
I love the characters in this series - Integrity is hilarious, even with her naff jokes and her "family" of mismatched friends are just brilliant and are all there for her regardless of whether they agree with her decisions or not. I was very surprised at the turnaround of one particular character and can't wait to see how that relationship changes in the future books.
Helen Harper's writing is fabulous; easy to read, flows without overly long and unnecessary descriptions (although there are plenty of descriptions for you to feel like you are in the same world as the characters), the pace is quick, but smooth, the plot is brilliant and not deliberately stretched out to fill a few more pages! So looking forward to reading the next book in this series, which is out in December 2016!
I was given this book free by the author in return for an honest review and I can honestly say it was utterly fantastic! A must have read!
Integrity Taylor has regained possession of her ancestral lands - and inherited a whole host of new problems. This book was very good, but really Byron needs to get his act together, although per the ending of the book he may finally has his eyes open. I don't like that Integrity and him are still not together. Slow burn is nice but this hasn't even made it to luck warm yet. A few occasional flashes and then more problems that keep them apart. Heading into the finally book so hopefully this will finally be resolved. The plot was good and interesting enough to care the story, even with the very little romance.
Dithered between 3 and 4 on this one - I have to admit that going into the series I suspected it wasn't quite to my taste, but I was in need of a light read and I was intrigued by the description of the world that Helen Harper had created. Also the box set was on sale at £2.69 - so I bought the series. I think I wouldn't have kept on reading if I'd had to pay full price for each book in the series, but I did read them pretty much one after the other to the end.
Other than that, it's brightly coloured, dramatic, makes me think superhero movies a bit - Integrity the main lead has a cast of friends with useful talents and noticeable characteristics (unusual backgrounds/brightly coloured hair etc). The adventures are all quite fun. A lot of thought and imagination went into setting up the magic and ins and outs.
Read the box set through, so not making individual comment on book 3.
Over all another great book in the series. Although it was not as action packed as the last book, this book was needed to start to get some answers as to what really happened. Not just to Integrity's clan but beyond the view also. Clan Adair is growing as more misfits pledge themselves to Integrity.
Veiled Threat begins with some crazy things happening and ends with even more crazy. This book was a major adventure and I really enjoyed it. Now, I really can't wait to find out what happens next!
With the exception of one big revelation in the middle and a set action piece at the very end, this felt somewhat fillerish. Review of entire series in final book.
So not a lot happened in this book which disappointed me. But at the same time the plot moved forward quite a bit and a lot of mysteries were solved/are on the way to being solved.
I'm glad that Byron now knows what a evil bastard his father is. I'm sad that he thinks that Integrity is dead though.
I'm glad that Integrity has integrity and treats all the clanless well. I guess her upbringing sever her well.
I'm glad that she now has a potential teacher to teach her about her magic.
I was surprised at the insights about the Fomori demons I learned.
I was also surprised at Tipsina's change of attitude. O.O

Straight up Integrity is fast becoming a favorite because she lives up to her name. At one point, when given LOTS of good reason to let a rampaging troll horde go after her mortal enemy, she explains what time exactly she means by "pacifism" I wanted to clap.
Later when a friend does something against that code, for her protection, she doesn't let them off the hook.
She sticks to her principles and guys that's my kink RIGHT THERE.
In my review of Honour Bound, one of my complaints was that the book seemed to sideline a lot of the main storyline in favour of a "Goblet of Fire" style tournament, which, in the end, did little to advance the main plot beyond supplying Integrity with her family lands.
Veiled Threat jumps back into the main plot with both feet. This is a fast-paced book absolutely bursting to the seams with content, more than making up the ground covered by the slower pace of Honour Bound. Like the earlier books in this series, Veiled Threat is quite short--230 pages on my e-reader--which is great since it's such a page-turner there's a very real risk you'll swallow the whole book in one sitting. There are lots of surprising twists, some critical plot and character developments, and a few very poignant scenes.
My only real criticism of this book is that....
a lot of the characters don't seem to have a lot to do. Particularly Integrity's "family" of thieves seem to spent a lot of time idling around while Integrity does the important stuff. In one scene the warlock tries out a bit of magic, and I found myself trying to remember if that character (whose name I can't remember, even), had ever done magic before, or if I'd even known he was a warlock. The number of characters is becoming pretty unwieldy for a book as short as Veiled Threat. I think part of this is that we're confined to Integrity's point of view exclusively, and then for many of the important sequences in the book, she's running around solo.
Despite that, I think this book is definitely the best in the series, and if you've enjoyed the previous two books in the series, you'll love this one.
Also: I like Integrity's jokes, funny or not. It's a great bit of characterization.
Veiled Threat is my favorite of this series so far. Integrity and her clan are back on Adair lands. She is picking up new clan members regularly because of her basic decency to others. I loved the storyline with the trolls. Byron finally won me over although it took until the final pages, and Tipsy proves that she isn't 100% awful. She was a surprise. Larger roles for Angus, Morna, and May was also appreciated. Integrity is a born leader; she is the prophecy it's clear. She is so thoughtful, kind, and fair to others. Even her jokes are becoming enjoyable if still not funny.
Integrity finds out more of her clan's past and her faith in Clan Adair is proven to be justified. She is utilizing her gift more effectively, learning to negotiate deals with other clans, and determined to restore the Adair clan. Her trips to the other side of the veil are suspenseful. The pace of this book is very good. Information and action are balanced nicely.
I loved the ending of the book even though I thought that this book was the last of the series. I hope that Book 4 concludes the story and I anxiously await to see the aftermath of Integrity's brilliant plan.
I don't know what it is about this series or this author that I love so much. Typically, I love the badass warrior woman as my protagonist, but integrity is a pacifist and continues to be a badass without violence and she's got terrible jokes that would annoy me with any other character except for her. The characters are just so well developed and so is the plot that I have to love this series.
Ok, many things happened in this book that I can’t seem to write without going “gaaahh”. This series is just one ride after another and you can only get off once you finished everything.
Let’s talk about the story. Let me just say that the story is reaching its boiling point (Duh! This is the penultimate book!). There are more magic, more demons, more adventure, and more danger. We finally see what happened to Integrity’s parents and it is just so sad and heartbreaking.
Integrity is just a strong character. I know I said this in my previous reviews but really, if I were in her shoes, I wouldn’t have been as optimistic as her (and still have time to make awful jokes). We get to know more about Tipsania in this book as well. And I am liking her character so far. Plus, after 2 books, Byron is finally opening his eyes!
Overall, I felt that this book was laying down the groundwork for the next book. I feel that the next book will be intense, especially after what happened during the epilogue. Here’s to more action and magic!
