Yowza! Because He Deceives Me is the eighth riveting installment in the sinfully seductive new serial, Because He Owns Me, by Hannah Ford and may I just say - WOW! Please be aware, as I indicated above, this is an ongoing serial and there will be multiple installments. I began reading Ford's work a few months ago when I discovered her What He Wants Series. She seems to specialize in serialized multi-installment novels with each release being the equivalent of one or two chapters totaling 35 to 50 pages each. I find that I actually enjoy this concept as long as the books are released regularly. Each book is a quick enjoyable read and perfect for what I like to call a palette cleanser - something to stop sensory overload, relax my mind and enjoy in between heavy, full-length novels. Ms Ford is exceptionally talented in crafting realistic storylines with complex characters and suspenseful plot twists. She also excels at maintaining the momentum of the story throughout the entire book without having to use empty filler to pace the story. If it's there, you better believe it means something and will be important at some point. Her stories are fast paced and always filled with unexpected, suspenseful and surprising twists at every turn. She keeps us guessing and on our toes, wondering what will happen next. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The story is exciting, enchanting, romantic, seductive and arousing. The narrative is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view although the main POV seems to come from Adriana O'Connor aka "Lemon", the female protagonist of the story. The dialogue is smart, snappy, raw and compelling. The characters are powerful, captivating, complex, engaging, intriguing and sexy as sin. Ford skillfully crafts these elements into an enticingly sweet cocktail of adult romance with a dash of mystery, suspense and a very erotic twist of BDSM. This story grabbed me from the beginning and won't let go! I can't seem to get enough of Callum and Lemon! It's absolutely captivating! Ford keeps us guessing and on our toes - again!

Although not unfamiliar with the ways of the world, she is quite naive. And apparently, she is also quite submissive as is quickly discovered by handsome, charismatic billionaire Callum Wilder, CEO and Founder of Wilder Holdings, LLC. Adriana has agreed to meet Nathan, whom she met on a dating app, for a blind date at Whipped, a club located in Midtown Manhattan. Nathan is a no-show and leaves the lovely Adriana waiting alone. Before he would touch her at all, she had to sign a privacy and a nondisclosure statement and an ironclad contract agreeing that it would be for ONLY one night; she was to never disclose any details, she could never tell anyone and she could never, ever contact him for any reason - no exceptions! And if by chance they ever meet again, she was to act as if she doesn't even know him at all? What the heck? And if that isn't enough, she also had to agree to be his submissive for the night, completely submit to his every command and to do anything and everything he wanted! Oh my! Surely, Adriana told him to take a long walk off a short pier, right? Wrong! And once their one night was over, he flew her back home to NYC without barely a word and dropped her like yesterday's garbage. Adriana is hurt, humiliated and brokenhearted. And just when she thinks her life is going down the toilet, she receives a call inviting her to a job interview at Archway Publishing. Did she even apply there? She's completed so many applications, she can't even remember but Adriana has a strong feeling that Callum may have had something to do with her job offer. And guess what? He did! What will Adriana do now? Will she or won't she accept the job? Since returning from Florida after his one night with Adriana, Callum is haunted by the her. It seems Callum can't and won't abide by his own rules. Trying to conceal her past and current relationship from her boss, Kriesten, is becoming increasingly more difficult when Callum seems intent on breaking her resolve to not see him. And when she does see him, she simply can't resist him. What's a girl to do??? Why be literally kidnapped from a work related party by the handsome billionaire, of course!!!

After refusing to accept his calls throughout the day, Callum breaks into Adriana's apartment that evening where she succumbs to his sexual advances and her feelings for him - again. After a wonderful night with Callum filled with surprising, first-time "vanilla sex", he finally confesses the true nature of his past and current relationship with Rose and makes Adriana a proposition - one in which she must sign another contract but in this one, he will own her - totally and completely - and control every aspect of her life. Unfortunately, the conditions will not be reciprocated; she will have no claim on him at all. What will Adriana decide? But apparently, even the handsome, dominant Callum is completely unprepared for the depth and intensity of his feelings for his beautiful innocent Lemon. As each of the lovers struggle with their growing addiction for each other, things begin to unravel around them. As a result of her continuing relationship with Callum, Adriana realizes she is in a precarious position with her boss and now runs the risk of not only losing her new job but also losing her dream of working in publishing - forever. While Adriana battles the emotional turmoil of her personal life alone, Callum continues to exert his influence to bend her to his will. Unfortunately his actions prove otherwise when he shows up inebriated and completely out of control at an Archway Publishing function, attacks Dean Bellingham, costs Adriana her job and gets arrested for assault. Oh my! It certainly doesn't look like he's in control but is Callum deceiving Adriana or himself? And now, Callum must make a decision, quite possibly the most important of his life, as he finally realizes that he is completely and irrevocably in love with Adriana O'Connor. This is the 8th book in the series that follows Callum & Adriana's steamy relationship. Callum has to control every aspect of his life, including Adriana. He has shown Adriana a deliciously dark side of herself that craves to be dominated by him. He has pushed her over the edge of ecstasy only to have her beg him for more and Callum couldn't have been more pleased. Adriana or Lemon as he calls her, is under his skin like no one before and he is battling his own demons. Things start to unravel because of his need to possess her and the jealousy he feels when other men are around her. Will he be able to handle his feelings for her? Will he be able to control his demons before they take over their lives? Will Adriana be able to forgive him for what he has done? Will her heart ever be the same? I have been hooked on this series and I can't wait for the next book!!! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and originally posted it on another website on April 3, 2016.

Grrrr
I hate the way half of the book is trying to get you to another book! I hate how short these books are because they want to get you to read other books by author! Short chapters sold as a "book" and you get hooked and pay each time for each of these chapters.

Well, he didn't just deceive Adriana, he damn well deceived us all. I am livid right now for 2 reasons. 1.Callum really fucked up. 2. This is the last book that has been written and who knows how long it will take for the next one (which will only be about 2 chapters) GAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Finally.....I have been searching for a book that resembles 5o shades of Grey. Its hot! Its crazy! Its steamy as hell. I was so dang happy I found this book.
Adriana O’Connor is just sitting in a bar minding her own business not knowing shes being stalked by some extremely hot prey.

Wow, what a cliffhanger! I really like the series of Because He Owns Me, and the momentum and characters of the story keep you wanting to read more. I had to buy books 5-7 through KU to catch up on what has happened. Callum and Adriana are enthralled with each other because they cannot stay away from each other, and this is a problem for Callum because he cannot surrender control—but Callum buys Adriana an expensive apartment. Callum goes out drinking with Brendan, his friend who caused him to drink again, and brings him back to Adriana’s apartment. Is something wrong with Callum and why would he bring Brendan to Adriana’s apartment? Since Callum has a drinking problem and claims that he can handle the drinking, will Callum self-destruct? Will this cause Adriana not to trust him? Because of Callum’s jealousy and protectiveness of Adriana, he cannot stand to see another man talk to her, touch her. Will the jealousy and lies cause Adriana to leave Callum, the man she loves? If so, what will happen to their relationship? This book will pique your interest. I cannot wait to read the next book.

This book breaks deeper in despair for Callum since Rose has passed away. He pushes Adriana away and yet she still fights for him. When someone from his past shows up, she gets worried he is going to fall down the dark hole. How much more she can take is hanging there as well and she keeps waiting for when he takes 3 steps back. Yet the sex is still amazing! Love this book and ready for the next.

This series keeps getting better and better. What's up with Callum? Drinking, fighting,acting very strange not at all like the hot alpha man he is. He tells Adriana he's in love with her but he can't be her boyfriend....what! Adriana I'd stepping up to the plate and telling him what's what....you go girl! Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Alcohol can be an evil thing. Alcoholism an evil disease. But being lied to by an alcoholic is the worst. Adrianna wants to believe Callum when he says he will not drink, but, apparently the problem is bigger than he realises. Bad decisions lead to bad results. This romance has become a tragedy. I hope things get better in book nine.

Because He Deceives Me is mysteriously tantalizing! No matter what Adriana can't deny Callum no matter how hard she tries or her mind convinces her she should. Book eight ends with a shocker I never saw coming! My only criticism is the wait time for the next book, her endings always have me anxious for the next book! I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
