Now that they have awakened, Caleb and Gabriel have the unenviable task of bringing their packs together and figuring out how to be co-alphas. Even with the support of some of their closest allies, there is no way for them to know how the rest of the pack will react their new leadership. While trying to balance being a new alpha and becoming one of the youngest Awakened in history, Caleb’s dreams take him on an unusual journey into his past. Before they have a chance to settle into their new roles, a murder on the Council draws the young alphas further into the world of the Awakened than either of them thought possible. As they try to help figure out what happened to the Council member, Caleb and Gabriel become the targets of the attacks. Until they figure out who is behind them, they are forced to remain with the Council and risk their lives to save the others. In order to discover the truth, Caleb and Gabriel are pushed to their physical and emotional limits, and must learn what it takes to lead in a world based on staying hidden. Unfortunately, the cost of those lessons may be more than either of them was prepared to pay. Challenged is the second part of the Awakened duology; a young adult paranormal fantasy series which combines humor, horror and same-sex love. It’s the shifter book other shifter books wish they could be, and it will make you want to live in the world of the Awakened, even if only for a moment.
I loved this second book in the series. It was great seeing Caleb and Gabriel move into their role as pack alphas.
There was a lot of action and had a mystery to solve. The new abilities that Caleb finds he’s capable of were exciting and unexpected.
The personal relationships grew and changed, and I LOVED the ending so much. This book went a little differently than I expected, but in a fantastic way. I’m glad I continued with the second book in the series. Definitely recommend!
I really enjoyed this second book in the Awakened Series. It was a nice twist on the werewolf story! Lots of new elements and the ending was something I'd been hoping for since the first book!!! (I won't spoil it for you but it's worth the wait).
