She and her husband RV, traveling to whitewater rivers to kayak all over the Southeast. The vampires, witches and humans of the Bayou have been feuding since before anyone can remember but after Jane brokered a peace things were looking up. Now they are back at each other's throats and it's all over a magical artefact.
Leo sends Jane to the Bayou to restore order and bring the warring parties to heel.
The Jane Yellowrock short stories and novellas have always been a bit of a mixed bag. Some of them really feel like scraps that should have stayed on the editing room floor. Others are brilliant and add both depth and insight into Jane Yellowrock's world.
Thankfully this is in the latter group and is a pretty damned amazing lead-in to Shadow Rites due out next week.
Another exciting Yellowrock story. I love how the obstacles and the battles to overcome them never get boring, but are filled with unexpected details.
In this Jane has to go back to Bayou Oiseau to once again straighten out the bickering between the witches and vamps. She thinks it due to the vampire Romeo (Gabe) cheating on the witch Juliet (Shauna). But there's a bigger problem at the center of the conflict. A magical wreath.
Quick note: I like Edmund. I know Jane doesn't like the idea but I think he'd be great with the team.
Fave scenes: cool whip, Jane's statement of intent and hiding at Lucky's.
I have to admit that I kind of skimmed through this book this time around. It was OK, but I did zone out a couple of times. That may have been because of the book, or because of my own current health. And I find Hvam's voice very comfortable and soothing, so I've fallen asleep to it before.
I can't say I noticed any major character developments with this listen, other than some info about Edmund and how Jane reacts to things. it's not a bad book, just didn't do much for me this time around. So I'm rounding it down to 3/5 star rating. It's still a good book, but nothing special, you know?

A fast-paced and fun read, with a lot of action, and still a bit more of character development. Just my cup of tea!
Cat Fight is an audio short story from the Jane Yellowrock series written by Faith Hunter and read by Khristine Hvam. It takes place after the events of the ninth novel, Dark Heir, has Jane Yellowrock once again plays mediator between the witches and vampires of the Bayou, Oiseau. It is a brand new short story written for Blood in Her Veins: Nineteen Stories from the World of Jane Yellowrock.
Cat Fight has Jane Yellowrock one again having to deal with the town and residents we first met in Cajun With Fangs. Leo Pellissier sends Jane Yellowrock back to the bayou when tales of valuable artifact has surfaced. Jane Yellowrock soon discovers that jealousy, miscommunication, spoiled children, and plain stupidity have the town once again on the verge of war. With the help of the Younger brothers and Edward Hartley, Jane Yellowrock has to lay down some hard truths while performing a little marital counseling.
Cat Fight is written and narrated rather well. It is wonderful to see the witches and vampires of the Bayou, Oiseau again. The peace that Jane Yellowrock has garnered in Cajun With Fangs had disintegrated again and it is up to her to broker the peace again. However, the Cajun accent while wonderful to listen to is rather difficult to read.
All in all, Cat Fight is a well written, but more importantly, it expanded the wonderful world that is the Jane Yellowrock universe.
This is a continuation of the story "Cajun With Fangs". There is trouble in "paradise" when a wife finds her vampire husband "feeding" on a woman. There is a perceived sexual element and so a Witch/Vampire war is about to cut loose along with some religious elements from the local Catholic Church.
I removed a star because I just didn't understand the motivations of the person stirring up this conflict. Maybe if I read/listened to the book again I would understand. I reserve the right to change this review in the future.
I'm not sure why but I didn't really like this one. I didn't feel a need revisit the bayou and really didn't feel like this moved any of the stories along. I am a little curious about what is going on with Edmund and hope they get a move on with revealing that soon instead of little hints here and there.
I love this one so much. It is laugh out loud funny in so many places. Back in New Orleans with the vamps and the witches. Throw in some voodoo and the characters from the past and this book is a rollicking good time.
Jane is sent back to the bayou to resolve another flair up between the vamps and witches. Love the characterization and could totally relate to wanting to smack the instigators of all the drama.

Jane Yellowrock one of my favorites continues to impress. This time Jane is tasked with keeping a magical artifact from Leo's, Master of New Orleans, hands. Between the witches, vampires, and Leo, she must determine who the rightful owner is and make sure it ends up there. Lots of background and story telling here; one must pay close attention. Great writing and as always Kristine Hvam is awesome.
