“Trin’s one of those rare and genuine young women with a smile so sweet you’d think she was made of honey. She shimmied, that’s right, shimmied her way into my life.”
“I was lured to Kiawah by the desolate silence and peace I thought it promised… Instead I fell head over heels for the loudest, craziest, most in-you-face human being.”
What a beautifully heartfelt romance!
I don’t want to feel anything. Maybe that’s why Trinity pisses me off more than she should, around her I feel . . . everything.
Returning from Iraq, Callahan a former Army Ranger Callahan is looking for peace and solitude. What he doesn’t need is an annoying girl bothering him constantly with her chatter, her smiles and her cheerfulness.
Trinity is enjoying a final summer of fun with her closest friends, before she joins the Peace Corps. It’s something she’s been dreaming of doing since she was little, helping others and making a difference. And nothing will stop her from going. But then she meets Callahan, who is so sexy, but so broken with the pain and guilt she sees him hiding behind his gruffness. And suddenly all she wants to do is make him smile, make him happy. Can Trinity save Callahan from his demons? And what will happen when the time comes for her to leave?
“Are you lonely?”
He lifts his head slowly, pitching me with such an intense stare, it holds me in place. “Not when I’m with you,” he whispers.
I really liked Trinity and her upbeat personality. I loved how she was instantly drawn to Callahan, and no matter how surly he was towards her, she never gave up, always trying to make him smile. She saw what a good person he was, and tried so hard to heal him, to make him see how wonderful she thought he was.
War broke Callahan into so many pieces, and the anger and guilt he felt was dragging him down. I loved how annoyed he was at first with Trinity, but also how she slowly got under his skin, making him crave to be near her.
“Why did I have to wait so long for God to bring you into my life?”
The romance was simply beautiful. Trinity was the perfect person to bring Callahan back to life, to bring him back from the darkness he was drowning in. And seeing the broody Callahan going from annoyed by Trinity to wanting her company, to craving her was fantastic. I loved the slow burn of their romance, seeing them fall deeper in love. It was so touching and so beautiful.
I loved all of Trinity’s friends, and seeing how deep the bond between them all was.
This was such an emotional romance, and I loved it. This was my first book by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last. If you’re looking for a romance that will tug at your heart, a broken hero and a heroine strong enough to save him, then this is the book for you.
That quote says it all. I don't need to sum up the story anymore than that.
Ms. Robson surprises me this time around with something a little different. Known for her awesome new adult contemporary romances and PNR, she went in a wee bit of a more humorous route (at least in regards to the character's personalities and wit) and used that humor to help get two polar opposite personalities together, in love... both of them happy with life!
Now, I've been reading and reviewing Ms. Robson's stories for a few years now so I'm sure you've "heard me" say she's a great story teller, she writes well, I love her character's intelligence, the romance is hot, yada, yada, yada... And again, this all holds true again in Inseverable. Honestly, with as many books as this woman is putting out, I didn't know she had it in her to surprise me and write an even more favorite book for me to love. See? I write bad but you get what I'm trying to say, right?
Okay, maybe not. I LOVE rom-coms like nobody's business. What Ms. Robson did was add super hilarious witty zingers and hilarious trains of thought to her signature romantic (albeit slightly angsty) stories and BOOM! Love, love, LOVED IT!!!
It's a fast read. It's a great summer read because it's based in the summer (um, duh). And it has a great cast of supporting characters including a best friend to Trin, Becca, who couldn't name a superhero if her life depended on it ("Green Bumble Bee"? Wow, that's really out there in left field, girlfriend!).
And even if I call this a rom-com, this won't be the usual bubble-gum fluff you're used to in a rom-com. It has a quirky twist/message that teaches us all it's important not to toy with someone's emotions.
