Sometimes it only takes a moment for your whole world to change. When Captain Kira Riley begins working on base at Fort Carson, she thinks she will be paying back her debt and escape her past. However just as she tries to focus on the mission at hand her path violently collides with the one man who could unearth every wall she has ever built.
Kira had struggled for years to make it to this moment. Finally a physician! But for those from meager backgrounds dreams come at a price. In order to pay for school she would have to serve in the military for 4 years. Just being on base brings back a lifetime of painful memories. Kira has to focus, pull up her big girl panties and make this work. One problem, she never anticipated meeting Owen Stark, a Special Forces sergeant who lives by a strict code. Though Kira tries to avoid any thoughts of this rugged stranger, fate has other plans. After a steamy and awkward physical exam Kira is left breathless and shaken. She has no intention of ever putting herself in a vulnerable situation again yet this soldier stirs feelings she didn’t know she had. Beyond fraternization, Kira will have to overcome; a slew of crazy exes, the grips of a BDSM subculture, and jail to find out who Owen Stark really is.
Stark is intrigued from their first encounter but his world is set. After a decade of service to avenge past tragedy, his team was all he needed, until he met her. Her determination, wit and gentle charm captivate him. Now he must choose between the existence he has built and a chance to really live again. Separated by their ranks she is the one woman he can never have. He knows being caught will end both of their careers. Aside from that if he gets too close she will learn about his life before the military or worse how he has spent his free time for the last decade. He knows he should just walk away, but one look in those innocent eyes, and the world stops spinning. Some risks are worth taking even if you lose everything.

I have added to my book boyfriend list! Owen Stark is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!

What an amazing start to a new trilogy by new author, C.D. Bradley. Stark September has characters that could walk off the page, a story that keeps you reading and sex scenes that had me pulling out the fan. Owen Stark and Kira Riley are well matched and the cast of secondary characters are interesting and as well fleshed out as the H/h.

Captain Kira Riley has reached her dream of becoming a physician and now she owes the Army time for their investment in her. She knows all about the Army having grown up an Army brat until the age of 12 when her father in Special Forces was killed. She wants to pay back the Army and get out with no attachments or complications. Owen Stark has other plans the minute he sees Kira as he accidently knocks her down. Stark is a Special Forces sergeant who has used the past decade to become a member of a band of brothers he can always count on as he heals from a personal tragedy. Both have secrets that they are afraid to share, not to mention that fraternization is against military regulations, but they just can’t stay away from each other.

As Kira and Stark’s relationship grows, you learn about Kira’s sexual assault and stalking while in college and that Stark dealt with his personal pain in the Special Forces, but also in a BDSM club and at home with a housemate named Paige. I feel the author did an excellent job of growing this relationship and revealing their differences and the problems that popped up because of those differences. The sex scenes were never gratuitous, but were perfectly suited to the growing romance and Kira’s sexual experimentation. Be warned that there is some BDSM and spanking in this book.

I cannot recommend this forbidden love story enough. There are two small problems for me though. First, Stark and Kira exchange one dog tag each. Although this is very romantic, it would never happen in the real military. Second, I wish the author would have wrapped up the suspense portion of this story in this book, while only leaving the romance open ended for the next book. Ms. Bradley’s writing is strong enough and her characters intriguing enough to carry me into her future books without the cliffhanger epilogue.

I loved this book and am anxiously awaiting the next in this trilogy!

This book captures and keeps your attention. Kira is a heroine conflicted by her attraction to Stark. I am anxious to see what happens in Book 2.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all past and present military personnel for your service to our country!

To put herself through medical school, Captain Kira Riley must serve out her Army tour for four years in the base medical center. When she runs into special forces Sergeant Owen Stark (quite literally), she's immediately entranced by Mr. tall, dark and handsome. But with fraternization strictly prohibited by the Army, especially with their discrepancy in rank, both are hesitant to act on that attraction. When Kira gets stuck in a snowstorm, Owen makes it his mission to get to her safely...and make good on the lust simmering under the surface between the two. Owen and Kira can never have a future together, he's enlisted and she's an officer, but it doesn't stop them from falling hard and fast for one another. With misunderstandings and omissions coming from both sides of the relationship, it'll take more than love for the two of them to make this work.

So, STARK SEPTEMBER had 2 things going for it right off the bat: Kira is from WV (and, I too raft the New River every year!) and she likes the song I Will Follow You Into The Dark by Death Cab For Cutie, one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately, there wasn't much else about this story that I enjoyed. First, as an Army Captain, an educated doctor, a skier, a runner and even an Army brat, I found it irritating that Kira was constantly caught unprepared in all these situations she got herself into (like heading to the mountains to ski...without checking the weather report?). Additionally, the fact that ¾ of the book looks unedited just frustrated the hell out of me. From past/present tense discrepancies, the POV changing even within a paragraph, misspellings of company names (and a heck of a lot of other things) and some really terrible punctuation, STARK SEPTEMBER became extremely tough to get through.

That said, there were a few funny moments, like the stint in jail and the (completely un-PC) cellmate (sleepy surprise…LOLZ), but overall this was supposed to be more of a dramatic erotic suspense story. I thought the suspense had some potential, as there were so many people out to get both Owen and Kira that I had no clue who was behind what. Be warned, STARK SEPTEMBER has a total cliffhanger ending, which will continue in the forthcoming The Stark Trilogy.

Bottom Line: Even though Ms. Bradley has good taste in states and music, it was just not enough for me to have any interest in continuing with future books in this series.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is a well written story from a debut author. I found that the main characters Kira and Starke have a lot of chemistry. I found that the secondary and well as the main characters are all very interesting.
If you enjoy military books with a lot of love and drama then this is the book for you. The author has done a good job with this book; I would recommend this authors work. I will wait impatiently for book 2 in the series.

DNF @ 41%.

This book started off pretty good but then took a disastrous turn. The h goes home with the H and there is a video being played of him with another woman. She is shocked and in walks a topless woman from the kitchen who is the woman in the video. The H is still friends with this woman and she comes to his house to hang out with another woman the H has slept with. The h leaves but then comes back a few days later bc she wants him to treat her like he did the woman in the video. What the HELL is going on!?!? Earlier in the story the H and h were being intimate at his cabin when another woman comes in surprising them both. She is a gorgeous, wealthy woman that has a past with the H. So OTT and ridiculous. Of course the donkey h, can't help but feel inferior to the good-looking woman. Yet another story with a h with low self-esteem.

Hang on for a wild ride from start to finish. It really isn't the finish since this book ends in a cliffhanger. Thank goodness book 2 is already released because I would DIE waiting to know what happens next. Owen will melt your heart & panties. Kira is fun and always getting into predicaments that she needs Owen or one of his BDSM ex-girlfriends Paige & Zoe to get her out of. Kira also has a coworker, Holt, who is a cross between an obsessed arrogant suitor and a stalker. Speaking of stalker, there is one of those following Kira around. He ends up attacking her towards the end of the book which leads Paige into danger. This book as more twists and turns that you won't be able to put it down. What an enjoyable read!Stark September (Stark Trilogy Book 1)

Kira and Owen’s story is one filled with non stop romance and suspense. The will they/won’t they military story we’re told will have you hanging on each and every word. Seeing Kira as a independent woman in the Army is empowering, we see her take charge and tackle obstacles that she’s told a woman can’t compete. Owen knows what he wants to do with his life and is committed to just that or so he thought. There’s a hint of mystery mixed in throughout this book and I think I have an idea of whom it could be but we’re not told directly and left with a cliffhanger conclusion to book one. I will undoubtedly be reading book two in the near future to see what happens next.

CD Bradley finally I had time to read your book, it was a long way but I got it, lol.
I was so anxious starting September Stark (Stark Trilogy Book1) because I did not know the author and I did not know if I was going to like the story but in the end I wanted to slap me hard because I did not have any motive to dislike this book, it was so so good.
This book is told in the third person and that makes reading fun and cozier because it looks like someone is talking and reading a book to you only.
This story revolves around Captain Kira Riley and Sergeant Owen Stark , they are both military in a base on Fort Carson.
Kira's life was not easy, she lost her father who was also military when she was little and was neglected by her mother after her father's loss. She always dreamed of being a doctor but she can’t afford it to go to medical school so she joined the army becoming doctor there, and doing this she will not only follow her dream but also she would be closer to her father's memory. She has no interest in getting involved with anyone, but when she runs up against Sergeant Stark something changes.
Stark is married to his profession; he is very charismatic and very reserved. For him only his career and team matters, but something changes when he sees Kira. He's used to getting everything he wants, give where to give, but can he get Kira, captivate her?
The attraction they feel for each other is palpable, but will they give into desire and go against all the rules?
I was very well reading a breathtaking scene, for reasons that you can imagine, when I was literally breathless with what happened. You cannot imagine what went through my mind at that moment. The hot scenes are a few and they are breathtaking.
This book easily put me on edge, because in a minute everything was fine, much happiness to the mixture and in the other it was all wrong, I was struck by all sides, my god the stress level was so high.
Can book end like this? Can it? If I was looking forward to the story itself, because of the suspense that surrounds this whole book, this final almost caused me a heart attack. How am I going to be able to endure this waiting? So many unanswered questions and so many fears to the mixture. CD Bradley I need the next book as soon as possible because otherwise I will go all crazy, lol.

This book was great from beginning until the end. I was nervous as this was a new author to me. I acquired the book from a signing and dove right in and couldn't wait to turn the pages!! Owen Starks is every woman's fantasy and Kira was a tough cookie that held her own throughout the story!!! I am anxious to see what happens to Owen and Kira's story in the next book!! Can their love overcome the military, plastic barbie, stalkers, and everything else life has to throw at them??!!!

I really, really, LOVED this book!! It had soooo much that was very right about it. You follow the life of a female soldier...A FEMALE SOLDIER!!! So many books out there are about the alpha male military guy, no, no, not this one. Getting to know Kira as a new LT and doctor, stationed at Fort Carson. Kira gets knocked over on her first day by the alpha male Special Forces SFC Owen Stark little do they both know it starts them on a journey that had me chomping at the bit to know what was going to happen next. Both of them have secrets and issues but their chemistry is OF THE CHARTS!!! There is a cliffhanger so be warned, I literally threw my Kindle 3-4 pages before the end. I can't wait to find out what happens next!!!

Move over Annatasia and Christian! if you are into military romance and are in the mood for something with a little spice than Stark September is for you. This is the first installment of a three book trilogy and I must say I can't wait till Stark Shadows comes out!!! Owen and Kira have great chemistry and I can't wait to see how the rest of their story plays out. Kira and Owen's relationship is against military rules and that I think is what makes the story more interesting because of the forbidden element.. All this to say it doesn't stop the characters from pursuing a relationship that is full of surprises, ups and downs, and most of all a growing love for one another. Loved this book. Glad I took a chance with this author!!!

Stark September CD Bradley
I was captivated by all the aspects to the book, military life, romance, erotica. By the way, this is a very adult book with explicit sex and language. Recommended for those 18 yrs. old and up. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and was entertained by the character’s actions (cue Paige and Zoe) i felt for the characters and made friends with them. I look forward to reading book 2 in the series.

This is the first in a trilogy so I didn't expect it to be all wrapped up in a bow! However, that cliffhanger was so amazingly awesome! The author has definitely done research as the military aspect was well-written. I also loved that it had a forbidden romance aspect to it. There are definitely a lot of twists and turns and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Grrr... CLIFFHANGER... SERIAL!!!!!!!

IMO! There was no reason for this to be a serial so far. There was HEAPS of extra useless fluff that could have easily been edited out. And I admit, because I haven't read the next two books, there's a high chance I am missing links, but there are definitely people and threads that are useless and unneeded at this point too.

Then there's the TSTL crap. Their relationship is against the rules and they could both be dishonourably discharged from jobs they love and don't want to give up but not only do they carry on (fine), but they make out and announce themselves to everyone and their dog in public too! They take photos and have tanties and never once think a 'maybe we should be discreet when we are not in private' thought between them. And their friends! Certainly don't need any enemies with that lot around.

Plus, she's had a 'unbelieved' stalker incident before... so what does she do when she starts to notice shit getting strange? Does she tell anyone? Does she start taking notes or photos? Does she start taking precautions? No. She ignores it all. Tells no one. Throws out all evidence. And doesn't even bother to pay more attention to her surroundings or security... because she's a moron who needs to be cleansed from the gene pool.

And him. He wants her, but refuses to give up the army... so he intends to sneak around for the next 4 years until she can time out? They are doing such a great job of sneaking now! Ok, so he sorted the fraternisation rule at the last minute, but turns out he actually had that option all along, but never talked to her about it.

And that stalker shit going on was just a bit bizarre. Especially when it never got sorted and the blurbs for the other books look like they go somewhere completely different. It's probably worked in there somehow, but again... I'm not really seeing any reason most of the threads in the book to not have been wrapped up already, and that's just pissed me off.

Where do I start !!

From that moment that I heard that voice Mam , Owen Stark had me ..(( grins ))

Stark September was one of the hottest reads I have read in a long time .. Sizzling hot and down right delicious. The chemistry had me panting and briskly reading haha.

Is that all your asking ?

No Way...With a story line that will have you engrossed I can guarantee not only Mr Stark will have you attention but the sassy Doctors grunt and determination , will have you rooting for her. Stubborn and born to succeed, Kira is hell bent on achieving her goals. No sex god will stand in her way !

Owen Stark knows he cant have the sexy Doctor but something in him is ignited. On a whirlwind of lust, hot trysts, the pair become closer then they ever deemed . A forbidden love ? Will it end before it begins ?

Stark September is one of those reads that will have you giggling, oogggging and arghinggg and wandering ..

Lots of great characters that will have you second guessing. A few that will have you very much intrigued, and also a few that will have you left unsure.

With a plot that has given us crumbs along the way, this story is fueled with lots of lusty moments but also a story line that keeps you intrigued. A stalker in the midst, kinky fxxkery , and a hot doctor on the trail and sexy soliders , there is never a dull moment.

I had to say the ending had me cringing and needing that next book pronto.

CD Bradley does such a wonderful job of creating well thought out characters, vivid imagery and characters with depth and definition you cant help but fall in love with them.

My first book by this author and it wasnt my last I delived into book 2 and 3 and was on a reading frenzy to find out more !

An intoxicating read from start to finish , CD Bradley gives us a steamy yet heart warming read that I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

STORY LINE:

Captain Kira Riley, new graduate of medical school, paid for by the armed forces, is now stationed at Fort Carson. Her world turns on a dime when she literally runs into Sergeant Owen Stark. Kira strives to be a successful doctor and Owen’s life is his team. Kira and Owen have issues and tragedies in their past which they hold close to the chest and heart. The attraction between the higher ranking Captain and Sergeant is immediate and intense. The emotional scars, fraternization, a multitude of other women, alternate life styles, and issues will make their journey a long twisted road. Kira discovers a dark side to Owen’s love life. Can the dark lover and the vanilla woman find happiness.

Come along with Owen and Kira as they journey through the many twists and turns of villains, mysteries, military service and life.

CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, AND DEVELOPMENT:

Author C. D. Bradley has created an intense emotion and character driven novel. The heat and steam between Kira and Riley is intensely searing. The pages smoke with sex and emotion. Ms. Bradley added a walk on the dark side of relationships in Owen’s life which Kira has a hard time accepting. The scene Owen has frequented in the past is offensive to Kira in most respects even though she finds herself intrigued by this life style choice.

This book has intense sex scenes, language, and life choices some may find offensive. If you do not care for descriptive sexually scenes or alternative life styles, this book may not be for you. Personally, if the scenes are too sexually graphic for me I skip those parts to get to the meat of the story, and this book has plenty of meat. This is an intense story of two people searching for love, security, and acceptance in a system that does not encourage the attraction and how hard the military life is for people of higher rank who find themselves attracted to a lower rank.

Ms. Bradley added mystery, many diverse characters, a stalker, and of course, every good novel needs a villain you love to hate; Ms Bradley developed several villain for this intense story. She developed each of her characters throughout the story-line and paced their growth well. Her villains will make you want to rip them from the book.

The pace of the story was on target as it did not slow or lag. My inquiring mind had to keep reading to discover how all the twists and turns would be resolved.

What an ending! I wanted to bang my e-reader a half-dozen times or so against the chair arm. I never expected the book to end in this way. Well done Ms. Bradley, well done!

RECOMMENDATION: 4 STARS

This is a solid well-written book with an intriguing story-line crafted by a talented author. I recommend this book for young adults an adults due to explicit sex and language.

I received this book from the author in return for an honest book review. Book reviews of any novel are dependent on the book review author’s opinion; book reviews on line under my name and on my blog are my opinion.

Can't wait to read the rest of this series. This was great but it came along slow for me and I wasn't very happy about Stark deploying without a word. Mira does deserve better than Owen. But I think Holt is a little bit messed up in the head. He should be with Simone!

Shades of Grey goes military… and I absolutely loved it! In my humble opinion it is much better than that.

I loved Owen Stark and I loved Kira Riley, they have an undeniably sizzling chemistry (The kitchen counter!! Enough said).

Kira is a petite woman whose size should not fool anybody – she is strong and independent and fiery – she knows what she wants and although it was not her first choice to serve in the military, she is determined to prove everybody that she is capable of handling a job there despite it bringing back some painful memories of her past.

And Stark… sigh. I fell for him pretty quickly. I mean, what is not to love about one sexy soldier?! … A sexy soldier with a liking for bondage at that! And when he goes into full alpha mode… phew! Holy hotness!!
His crazy – both in a good and in a bad way – exes do not make it easy for Kira to fall for – and more importantly trust – him completely. Especially Paige is always good for a surprise. Despite his devotion for the military, Owen surely has led one crazy and extraordinary life before.
He is far from any stereotype, which is what I love about him the most.

And this cover… I have to say I’m a sucker for hot and sexy covers. It is what usually draws me to new books and especially to new authors first. With that being said, this one is not usually the cover I go for. But while reading I discovered its deeper meaning and now… it has so much more significance as one sexy body… and I love it!

STARK SEPTEMBER truly is a book that captivated me from the beginning, there is so much happening, that I was glued to my Kindle until it was over.

It is different and intriguing, has suspense and drama, action and emotions, a bit of taboo, a bit of BDSM, a passionate couple – and all of this set on a military base…

Yes, this book sold me and I am absolutely looking forward to the second book of the trilogy.

Last night I finished Stark September by C.D. Bradley. Talk about Hot, Hot, Hot!!!! This one will make clothing implode. I couldn’t put it down and had it finished in one day!
Stark September is a story about Kira Riley, a former military brat who has just embarked on her own military career as an officer and a doctor. Her first day in the clinic she is assigned to give a post-mission physical to the same man she literally ran into earlier in the morning. Owen Stark is a Sergeant in the Army and also a Special Forces soldier. He knows he can’t have a relationship with the hot doc giving him his physical but the attraction is strong, too strong to resist. The attraction between the Captain and the Sergeant is more prevalent than the rules they are both governed by and the relation quickly turns hot and heavy. They both have pasts they are running from but events keep throwing the past in their faces and threatens to pull them apart, and having to keep their relationship secret from the military just makes things even more forbidden and more dangerous.
This novel is a cliff-hanger but I do believe the second novel is releasing soon, at least I certainly hope that is will be releasing soon, and there will be a third novel. I will have my hands all over the second novel as soon as it is released. Another warning, there is some BDSM involved in this novel but not enough to put anyone off. There is just enough, I believe, to satisfy the BDSM fans but not so much to turn off the fans who are not.

I received a copy Stark September for an honest review.
CL is a new author to me. I was very impressed with her writing.
I loved Kira and Owen's story.
A chance meeting with Owen knocking Kira over when he opened the door. After that incident, either one could keep the other out of their mind. Eventually they can't keep away from each other. Their relationship is forbidden. If they are caught, they will be reprimanded. They are careful, making sure they don't get caught. Kira has a past that she doesn't want Owen to know about. She was raped in college. Someone is stalking her. Could it be the guy from college?? I loved the sexy scenes. They have great chemistry. Neither can imagine their life without the other. Kira finds out about Owen's sexual desires. He likes it really kinky. She's not into all that, but that doesn't bother him. Kira finds out that Owen is re-inlisting and picking the army over her. That's it, she cannot go on with this relationship. They break up, but both are still in love with each other. In fact, Owen loves Kira that much that he puts in to become a captain so they could be together without reprimand. And he is going to ask her to marry him! He plans the perfect night, but gets instantly deployed. Kira is giving up. Goes home. I didn't want this story to end. I want to read more of Kira and Owen's story.

C.D. Bradley is a new author to me, and I will say I am beyond impressed.
This girl right here can make one hell of a story.
A chance of one and a lifetime these two meet under forbidden circumstances. But they can't stay away they have a connection that neither Kira and Owen can ignore. But if these two get caught huge consequences will occur.

Honest to god Kira's past was down right ugly. She wanted to keep that part of her life hidden from Owen. She felt as if he know those deep dark secrets he would leave her.

The chemistry these two had felt real, I could connect to the characters and that's what I love about the story.

There is a lot of issues this couple has to go through one being

Owen's specific taste, he likes it hard dirty and kinky, but Kira is hesitant to give in to those desires.

Another issue is Owen relisting in the army, that put a huge strain on their relationship. Poor Kira she thinks that he is picking his job over her, but in reality Owen is doing the exact opposite. He is doing all of this for her.

Guys this book was perfect. I want this to be made into a movie.
