This is a really sweet story about two animals, Fidget and Quilly, getting ready for bed. Each double spread counts down from ‘10 minutes to bedtime’ ending with ‘Isn’t it time you were asleep too?’
The illustrations and lift the flap features add humour to the story - also adding to the educational element as the number is hidden in each picture - could be a fun ‘find the number’ activity for readers.

There’s quite a lot going on in this book. There are several flaps to lift on each page, the order in which the flaps should be lifted is not always straightforward. There is a hidden number under the flaps on each page, they were entertaining to find. The medium of the illustrations isn’t stated by the book but they appear to be made mostly in watercolor. The book goes about telling the story be asking a series of rhetorical questions while the numbers are counting down at the very tops of the pages. The story is whimsical and the characters are relatable to children because of their antics. Although, it seems that preparing for bedtime would take more than ten minutes considering the amount of tasks that the characters had to perform to get ready for bed.
