The Vigyan Bhairava Tantra is one of yoga's most important texts. It is an ancient text on yoga and meditation revealed by God centuries ago. It was written to show mankind how to reach a state of enlightenment.
The book is amazing.Previously I only know of few meditations which involved concentrating on the breath and chanting 'OM' but there are so many others like concentrating on the state where you are slightly awake & also sleeping and doing yoga poses with mouth open and looking meditations and others. Some of the matter is repeated over and over like the ones that say ''we are not the body, we are consciousness/awareness'' and the concept of ego, stilling the mind and we find god in silence etc.We get to know about Kashmir shaivism (I'm totally going to pick some other books relating to that) and astavakra gita. The book reiterates that believes create our reality, karma and the concept of non-dualism or monism. There are 3 meditations of all in the book which involve sex for means of enlightment.(Weird).Anyway this book is truly awesome, helps those beings who are spiritually inclined. If we practice with concentration they might help in our self-realization process. The various stages are also mentioned along with the sounds ancient sages heard when they reached a particular stage.(bee humming, bells ringing, cymbals, flute, sound of vina, drum echoing etc) and also about kundalini.Great book, I recommend this to everyone.
I recently finished 112 Meditations for Self Realization and it has truly opened my mind to the power of meditation. Each meditation is concise and easy to follow, yet incredibly profound in its ability to cultivate inner peace and self-awareness. I have found myself becoming more present and mindful in my daily life, and I credit this book for helping me achieve a greater sense of self-realization. I highly recommend 112 Meditations for Self Realization to anyone looking to deepen their meditation practice and connect with their true self. However, if you are pressed for time, then check out this summary highlighting top 5 meditations from the book. https://5point-something.com/index.ph...
The best book for yoga ie meditation so I suggest to the people interested in meditation to read this book first before reading anything else. It takes time to practice various methods though they are simple but very powerful. So I say take one method and practice if you are comfortable then continue it and in this way go for other methods if you really wish to otherwise just one method is enough to uplift our entire life
This is one of the oldest text on meditation and non dualism. Worthy read if you are into meditation and yoga. Beautifully translated by the author with simple and effective words.
Some of the meditation techniques have really helped me. Recommend this book to anyone who is looking for peace or anyone who is looking for god.
This is a beautiful, simple and well interpreted work on the Vigyan Bhairava Tantra. A must read for those on the path of self-realization! Each verse of this text is explained with earnestness and authenticity. It feels like the author genuinely wants the reader to be on the path of self-realization.
Initial 30-40 pages are good, they felt like gripping and a gateway to a new world to me, but after that i felt boring and repeating the same thing again and again. Writer tried his best to keep the language and vocabulary as much as user friendly but i felt that there is a need for more efforts towards that. Over all this was a new and a good experience for me.
The book is a conversation between the God and the Goddess, the Shiv and the Shakti, Bhairava and Bhairivi. Although it identifies both as one and same, the goddess seems to have taken a different form to ask questions to the God, to clarify the meditations, and the nature of reality to us. In his answer Bhairava describes 112 ways to enter into the universal and transcendental state of consciousness. References to it appear throughout the literature of Kashmir Shaivism, indicating that it was considered to be an important text in this tradition. The text presents itself as containing the essence of the Rudrayamala-tantra, a Bhairava tantra that is now lost.
The book talks in depth about human form, consciousness, reality, myth, earth, and the entire universe, and gives 112 meditations of reaching the true reality. The translation is simple, easy to understand, and deeply effective. A must read for those interested in spiritualism and oneness.
This text, without any claimed author, is one of those texts that is considered 'Sruti'- timeless verses about life and the universe that transcend eras and ages, that humans have 'heard' from the portals yonder.
It's certainly not a book for beginner minds, there are two levels of understanding at play here; the first to be at least an intermediate level spiritual thinker with some background in meditation, also having some prior experience in reading spiritual texts (especially the Upanishad/vedic works). For the prose here follows a very simple, but almost self-assured certainty in its teachings, and is definitely not for the total unbelievers or skeptics.
Ranjit Chaudhri does a commendable job of breaking down the meditations for a lay user, however if you're interested in a more detailed understanding of these concepts, supplement this with other authors (I found Swami Lakshmanjoo's version on the Sutras to be a lot more detailed & nuanced)
