So ... the story is about a young woman, who works as interior designer, lives in her father house, enjoys her friends company, but since everybody around her either multiplying or getting married, she wants that too. And so she sees pregnant women and single attractive men everywhere, and even more so since her own drop dead gorgeous boyfriend is busy whit his work and he has hard time to find a single moment for Faye when nobody calls or drops in on their date night.

Faye is confused, should she be jealous or suspicious, since Rocky's coworker, who constantly interrupting on their alone time is gorgeous french lady, and same time she has hard time control herself with her single boss, with his adorable nephew. Her only hope is, that when they go to Ghana, to Rocky's sisters wedding, they have time to talk about their relationship and where is it going.

But once in Ghana, their days are filled with more wedding activities and after wedding there is a family disaster and since Faye had seen it coming but said nothing to Rocky, Rocky is disappointed in her and sends her back to London.

It's a kind of typical New Adult soap opera, just instead of the usual young tycoon and sassy receptionist there are two young people from Ghana. Their culture and customs and beliefs are different than ours and it's interesting to read. But the problems those two young people have are the same, no matter what color your skin is or where you from, if your relationships stands on assumptions instead on talking, it simply can not end well ... unless ...

It was a good read, interesting experience.

This is a sequel to From Pasta to Pigfoot but can be read as a stand alone novel.

It’s follows Faye Bonsu’s love life with her gorgeous and successful boyfriend but also her career and friendships.

Like most real life love stories, it is not plain sailing, there are doubts, miscommunications, jealous and selfish moments. Coupled with external influences like other love interests, family interventions and the dreaded family wedding.

The story is set in Ghana and London.

This story is well written which makes the 424 pages go really quickly. Frances spent a lot of the first book developing the characters meaning she could just dive straight into the plot in this one.

Overall an enjoyable read that made the book club discussion very interesting.

Ugh.. why did the story have to end here!! 😩

It took several restarts and rewinds initially but once the story got going, I was hooked.

I appreciated all of Faye’s experiences that helped her to begin to think about the role she was playing in her own life. I think there’s still opportunity for her personal growth but watching her evolve was satisfying (sometimes frustrating).

I do wish we could’ve heard from Rocky’s POV as I was so bothered by his severe lack of communication.

Nevertheless, by the end I was a bag of mixed emotions and strongly in need of a 3rd helping. 😌

Quite a silly and friviolous book, that feels like an enjoyable indulgence if you enjoyed the first novel. However the smatterings of the profound and important that were intermingled in the first book were missing. Massively inferior to first book, but still enjoyable with low expectations.

Really enjoyed the sequel where we continue the story of Faye Bonsu. Faye and Rocky did give us moments to wonder and I just couldn’t wait to find out how it all ended. Really great light and entertaining read

Actually a 2.5

I thought the first in this sequel and cute and culturally interesting. Sadly, I found this one to be predictable, and the characters to be woefully immature. I kept wanting Faye to speak up for herself and the ending seemed forced.

Be careful what you wish for!

This picks up from the writer's previous book, and returns to London where Faye and her boyfriend, Rocky have been together for four years, since we last encountered them.

Faye is no longer a Secretary to a rather ineffectual solicitor, but has been to art school and now works as an assistant designer in an interior design company. Rocky is still working in a merchant bank and has made quite a name for himself. The downside is that work has become his life to the unhappiness of Faye, who had thought she had found 'the one', but who has to make excuses when Rocky fails to attend social occasions due to 'pressure of work'.

Faye's best friend Caroline is now happily married to the lovely Marcus and they have a small daughter, Coco, to whom Faye is Godmother, and who Caro juggles between home and her job in television. To add to Faye's discontent, Rocky's sister Amma is about to get married and they are travelling to Ghana for the wedding; Faye consoles herself that when they are away she will see more of Rocky and that they will regain their connection. All she wants is what Caro and Amma have, a husband and children, and if possible a successful career as well.

This novel is full of life, colour, good times and bad, but above all is about relationships, whether with family, colleagues, good friends or partners. It soon becomes clear that Faye is not entirely sure what she wants anymore and without that self-knowledge her chances with her relationship seem doomed to failure. There is a large cast of characters, each with their own idiosyncrasies, and each developed fully so that the reader feels they know them.

Williams has a nice fluid style, and whilst not a future Booker prize read, this novel satisfies the need for the lighter side of life, and the satisfaction of encountering characters whose lives are more complicated than our own! Pink and fluffy is what we sometimes need after a stressful day – I certainly do!

I really enjoyed it and hopefully there will be another in the series.

Didn't enjoy this second book nearly as much as I loved the first one and actually found some of the love story telling frustrating to the point of nauseous.
