This is the third book in the bestselling Mars Journey series. Catch up and experience the suspenseful thriller for Brent Carlson, a brilliant but disgraced former astronaut, embarks on a modern day quest to gather and train the crew of the first international mission to Mars. Meanwhile, the power hungry billionaire CEO of a massive global technology conglomerate has launched a bid to reach Mars first and claim the red planet as corporate property. The Mars Journey series delves into the science, technology, drive, and determination of the human spirit to come together to overcome our greatest challenges, explore space, and become the first martians to colonize the Red Planet.“Brent Carlson is like a combination of Jason Bourne and Sherlock Holmes… in Space!”"My SF reading past has encompassed Clarke, Asimov, Herbert, Del Rey, and the like, and I have to confess that they may have spoiled me for some of the newer authors.... Bill Hargenrader may well be an exception to that rule!" J Dunnet ***Atlas Force Person of Interest Brent Carlson As an astrophysicist child prodigy with an IQ regularly tested over 180, Brent Carlson at 13 years old, instead of naming constellations like other kids his age, was discovering galaxies. At 18, in part to rebel from what he considered the “pointless pondering” of scientific institutions and the “bottleneck of the hierarchical academia elite,” he dropped off that path and joined the US Army where he became one of their top combatives fighter. After 8 years of meritorious if a bit reckless service with the Top Secret REDACTED REDACTED he applied to join the NASA Astronaut Corps. His application essay stated he didn’t want to waste away just sitting on the sidelines and watch history unfold at a snail’s pace. Instead, he was going to accelerate the creation of history. He was accepted, and quickly rose to the head of his class. Though his scores and performance on missions to space were exemplary, his psychological assessors were concerned for his growing disdain towards those in charge of the current pace of space exploration. He was dangerously close to a dismissal from the Astronaut Corps… That is until he met the future Mrs. Shayla Carlson who helped him see the world in a new light. Their joint effort on the Unified Mars Path project, and their iconic Human Race to Mars speech given at the UN served as a galvanizing moment for the growing Mars Now movement. Unfortunately, with Shayla’s recent suspicious death at the hands of REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED, Brent has gone over the edge. His sanity has been questioned, and his hatred for those in power has been publicly stated… Despite that, we still desperately need him. We need to leverage his high profile as one of the most recognized astronauts on the planet, and we need to utilize his singularly unique skills to ensure the Mars Journey mission success. To that end we are sending our best to bring him in. We anticipate he won't come willingly.
With this third novella in the series, the tension keeps on climbing!
Brent is trying to get the candidates for the contest together and locked in, after travelling the world and finding some outstanding applicants. Unfortunately, some of them seem less keen than they did, are they being threatened, what is going on?
There were a lot of lines being blurred in this book, two distinct front runners in the race to set up a colony on Mars, but both parties are prepared to do whatever it takes to be the winner.
I am interested to see what happens next, my only gripe with these stories is that they are too short, enquiring minds need to know....and quickly! lol.
Part thee of this series picks up where the other two left off, and I mean that literally. Each book in this series has three distinct parts to it. Each story is complete in itself. When you take the books together in a series, each story lets us in on a little more of what is going on.
If you are a science fiction reader, the you will enjoy this as preparations are happening in our near future for a journey to Mars. While most of the world wants a fly bye, one group is staging a reality contest to see who will get to settle on Mars when the sent to the planet during the loop around the planet. That is, if the group can raise the money. And that is the person we are following.
Good short book, well written and enjoyable.
I was provided a copy for review and this is an honest review.
I find Bill Hargenrader's writing style refreshing; so far-> I have read the first 3-books. We are at a critical time in the history of our planet marked by the convergence of many aspects: consciousness, spirit, energy, environmental awareness, to name a few. The author understands that a new paradign is necessary as we build our future, this theme is woven into the Mars Journey. My only complaint is that the books in this series are too short.
Episode three in the Mars Journey. Things are getting interesting now in that there are naughty people that are about to get naughtier. The action is definitely getting intriguing to say the least. Highly recommended.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the first two books of this saga. I was not disappointed by Book 3.
Bill fills in many of the gaps left by the first two books. We now have an interesting cast of characters in addition to our protagonist. It's getting harder to tell the good from the bad. The stage is now set to move forward with the training for the Mars mission.
I can't wait to read the next installment.
The blend of science fact and science fiction is well done. It helps make for a believable story.
This series of Mars Journey: Call to Action just keeps getting better and better! Bill Hargenrader's descriptions are fascinating. The villain is truly despicable while the main character is too full of himself at times and a little gullible but mostly truly in love with space. I love the Mars Now team leaders and I don't always know what to make of some of the characters. Book 3 has been the best out of the first three. If I hadn't encountered so many errors, it would've earned a perfect score.
This was another installment of the Mars Journey epic series. This book was not quite as action packed as the previous episode. With that said we are better informed on the players of the game. All in all it was a good read. I can't wait to see where the author takes us next. This is a great quick read with a growing insight into the series. Each one we learn just a bit more. I will say this series is consistent in the fact that it always leaves us the reader wanting more. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book in the bestselling Mars Journey series by Bill Hargenrader. This series just keeps getting better and this is the best book so far – IMO. The story is coming together in this book and the gaps are being filled. I have never been a big fan of reading sci-fi until this series but find myself fascinated by this series. Well written with great characters. I voluntarily chose to write a review of this book.
I love this series... first off.. they dont just get a spaceship but have to work hard to get on the mission. We follow a bunch of ppl. some are eager to get on, others not so eager.. but still they have a joint interest in Mars. Read the books..and let us wait together for the main character to get to mars.
This is the third book in this series and it is another five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 hit in my journey. I know that you will enjoy this series as well once you get started on the first book and each book is one that you can read in a short time and still feel like you have been right there with the characters and the journeys getting there
The story keeps moving forward and the stage is set to move on with the reality TV show. I like that these are short Story’s. It keeps the pace quick and keeps the story moving forward without a lot of filler material.
The story progresses... Humanity’s efforts to reach Mars continue, despite the best efforts of some. This is an interesting and compelling story, just be sure to start with book 1.
