Just when you thought things couldn’t get any weirder, WeirDo’s been to the dentist and has come back with braces! How will he hide them from everyone, especially with a big trip to the Fun Fair coming up?! It won’t be easy . . . but it will be funny!
Anh Do is a comedian, artist and also one of the highest selling Australian authors of all time, with total book sales approaching 3 million.
Anh’s first book, The Happiest Refugee, is his enormously popular memoir recounting his perilous childhood journey in a tiny boat from war-torn Vietnam to Australia. The book became an instant hit and has won numerous awards including Australian Book of the Year.
Anh has since turned his attention to children’s book writing.
Weird Do is an illustrated series starring Weir (1st name), Do (2nd name), a kid with a very unfortunate name. Aimed at the 8+ market, these books have gone off the charts as national best-sellers, resulting in 14 books total and more on the way. The first Weir Do won the Australian Book Industry Award for Older Children (2014).
Other children's book series include Hotdog, the adventures of a sausage dog and also Ninja Kid, the escapades of a 10 year old Nerd who discovers he’s the world’s last ninja.
In 2019, Anh released Wolf Girl, a series about a little girl who gets lost in forest and befriends a group of dogs and an enormous Wolf who become her family. Then came Rise of the Mythix, which marks the first of a number of sagas described by Anh as ‘A superhero movie in a book’.
All of Anh Do’s books are mega bestsellers and all rate between 4-5 star averages on websites such as Goodreads and Amazon.
It’s clear that Anh is an exciting voice in literature, able to delight across age ranges and different genres with great success, and he isn’t planning to slow down any time soon.
Omg this book definitely deserves 5 stars 🌟!!! I loved it so much.
Jokes. It was fairly boring, but I was in the school library and had nothing better to do. It’s just about a kid that gets braces and thinks no one will like him, but.... *spoiler alert* (Dramatic music plays) [building suspense] (More dramatic music) ... NO ONE ACTUALLY CARES THAT HE GOT BRACES!!!! 🙄 Then it turns out his girlfriend got them too so it was fine.
Bella has braces in the end as well hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasshahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Another great edition to the WeirDo set. Can't wait to send this one on to my cousin's kids (she is a dental nurse so I'm sure she is going to love it to!)
I missed 5 as we couldn’t get it when we got the others. My daughter wasn’t aware so it’s not necessary to read them in order. In this one, Weir gets braces and avoids his friends while at the fun fair for school. Great school day out; does that happen? Weird learns to accept his braces, so would be a good one for kids getting braces to read. The usual humour style and illustrations as the others.
I am a 9 year old girl and I am reviewing this book by Anh do.I like this book because it is funny how he gets braces and all the food gets stuck in it. I don't like this book because he has a crush on a girl. I recommend this book 6 to 10 I gave it 4 stars
This was my first encounter with the Weir Do series and I can see why it is beloved and has made such a mark amongst in graphic novel genre. I would love to know how Ahn Do and Jules Faber collaborate. They are a terrific match for each other! Funny and enjoyable.
Review: This is quite a decent book. Anh Do wrote this book well as the story flows very nicely and makes since. However, the plot felt a bit dry at points and perhaps could have more interesting or climatic parts.
Each book is funnier than the last one. The illustrations are excellent. Looking forward to book #7 for the reason that Anh Do is a fab writer and has a great sense of humour.
Love the funny names that Anh comes up with whenever there is a new character. I like my favourite has to be Phil McCavity - fill my cavity - love it lol.
