This is a collection of nine stories.

Of these nine stories, seven are based in Karisal Kaaddu. Two are based in Chennai.

The first four stories - Suyam, Sibikal, Ul Manithan, Jeevithaththin Ulvattam - are my favourites.

Melanmai Ponnusamy writes about the simple people of Karisal Kaadu and about their day today emotions. Some of the stories tug at the strings of your heart.

Being a person from the landscape identified as Karisal Kaadu, I loved reading these stories. The language and expressions were very dear to me and some of the characters I felt I had seen them and some of the characters I felt I should have known them.

To read Karisal Ilakkiyam is to feel nostalgic. Though presently I am away from Karisal Kaadu, reading such stories help me to feel at home......And that is why every now and then I love reading books from Karisal Writers.
