"I am sitting in an airport, barefoot, in terrible need of a shower, and I've just lost the best thing that ever happened to me."
Told entirely from the first-person account of 38 year-old, recovering alcoholic, rock star, and self-proclaimed 'slut,' Hank Tolk, this romantic comedy, while capable of being read as a stand alone, brings back the beloved characters from "Love on the Rocks" for another wild ride on tour. With it comes undying friendship, heated romance, and a little bit of heartbreak.
Hank is not looking for a sexy hook-up, not anymore. He's decided to slow down. He's even made a bet with his best friend that he'll stay celibate for the length of their two-month rock tour.
But Susi O'Malley has other plans for Hank. After a lackluster love life, a broken engagement, and a lost job, Susi wants to let loose a little before she turns 30. With her life in crisis, she joins her old college roommate, her husband, and their best friend on a rock tour across the U.S. Determined to seek out a casual fling that will change her perspective, Susi sets her sights on Hank.
Hank can only resist Susi's advances for so long. Eventually, he could end up in her bed. Worse, he could end up in an actual relationship. With the potential of hurting Susi, angering his best friend, and having to face his own demons, Hank risks losing the bet -- and his heart.
Kay Harris is a college professor, former park ranger, and anthropologist. People observation is in her blood. She writes romance novels that emphasize character development and dialogue. They always contain a little bit of sweet, a dash of sexy, a touch of heartbreak, and a whole lot of fun! Kay grew up in Michigan, has since lived all over the west, including Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California.
I love the hero of this story Hank. He’s a bit of a moody one who is dealing with his demons. I enjoyed the heroine as well, although honestly had some issues with her back story.
Anyway, while I enjoyed the characters the plot line wasn’t my favorite. Given the preface of the story, I was pretty much waiting to see why everything was going to go south.
Superstar rocker, Hank Tolk, can have any woman he wants. As lead singer of music group Bantham, Hank revels in the fact that women tend to throw themselves at him constantly. But as he takes his best friend, Sean Rush, and Sean's new bride, Baby, into his confidence, the newlyweds are shocked to discover that Hank’s lost his mojo; sex is no longer exciting like it used to be for the rocker and he cannot understand why. Sean suggests that Hank seek out his future wife, while Baby suggests celibacy for the entire duration of Sean and Hank’s upcoming tour. With Hank having kicked a drinking problem he’d had long ago, he feels so confident that he can abstain from sex for two months that he puts his beloved sports car on the line; if he gives in to temptation, Baby can have the car of her dreams as bounty for winning the wager. The problem: Baby’s best friend, Bell, has joined the tour bus and Hank finds himself falling in love with her. Bell doesn’t help matters when she constantly throws herself at him, begging him to make love to her. With both his car and his pride on the line, Hank has to make one of the biggest decisions of his life – one which he may live to regret.
Once again, Kay Harris has presented a wonderfully hilarious romance which has hit a home run. Sean and Hank’s friendship shine through brilliantly in Play Me, and I found myself, on many occasions, laughing out loud at the pair’s antics, while smiling affectionately at the sisterly love he has for Baby and his many attempts to keep Bell from taking his two-month-long chastity from him. After having given up the bottle for such a long time, Hank is determined to prove that his willpower is as tough as steel, while maintaining his assertiveness in keeping his nearest and dearest safe, both physically and emotionally. Seeing him handle the unexpected visitor in Sean’s green room is a perfect example of how deeply he cares for his friends, but it also gets him into more trouble than he bargains for. From start to finish, Play Me had me hooked and I cannot wait until the next book in the Love on Tour series is available, as I can’t get enough of this delightful trio and their entourage. I recommend Play Me to all lovers of comedy, drama, realism and adventure, all wrapped up in the perfect romantic tale.
This is a very sweet story in a PG-13 kinda way. One less tainted would, I'm sure, would be much more swooned by the likes of Hank Tolk. Not because he's not charming. He is. He's very charming and funny. All wrapped up in a bow that any mother would love. And that's why I gave it only 3 stars. A bit too sweet with a cherry on top kinda way. Other than a few type-o's, the writing isn't bad. Plot wise, the story is good. Im curious about the other books (I haven't read book1), so, other words, on the next rainy day, I'll probably be reading book 1 or 3, maybe even both. Solid 3 1/2 Stars.
I totally enjoyed book #2 in the Love on Tour series. Two rockstar buddies with good hearts and down to earth female main characters. Sean found Baby and now player Hank meets game changer, Bell. Kay Harris is off to a great start as an author, I am looking forward to more from her!
Great read. I was worried that this series would be about drugs, drinking and bed hopping, but it is so much more. Love, family and so much more enjoyable and entertaining.
Another enjoyable read from kay Harris. I can't say that I'm a fan of Bell's character and I don't know that she eventually grew on me but it was good to see someone got Bank's number. On to the next story.
Hank’s story. It always amazes me when manwhores - especially ones who have groupies traveling the world with them - instantly become monogamous at the first sight of their Fated Mates. Kay Harris somehow makes it believable from Hank’s POV. Bell is fascinating.
Hank and Bell (Susi) are so cute together! It's amazing to read about the playboy falling in love, regardless of how it plays out. Can't wait to read more and hear more about them as well as Sean and Baby!
I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. This is the second book in the series Love on Tour. This is Hanks story and told from his pov. Like the first book the writing is good however it needs editing for missing and wrong word placements. Also, this book takes place 2 years after the first book but Hanks age is 38 in both books.
Dani "baby" and Sean from book one have gotten married and they are picking up her old college roommate Susi to go on tour with them. Susi is a writer and has just lost her job and ended a bad relationship. Hank nicknames her "Bell" because she is tiny like tinker bell. After past bad relationships where she is looking for husband material she decides she just wants a "fling" and sets her sights on Hank. Hank dissatisfied with continual one night stands with groupies makes a bet with Sean he can remain celibate during their 2 month tour. Needless to say he looses that bet when he looses his heart to Bell.
Book one & two were excellent! I absolutely loved the dynamics between each of the characters... Both hero's & both heroines were fantastic...the relationship they share as friends is tighter than blood... although baby was my favorite! At times I wanted to throttle Bell, but she was redeemed later...she can't help that she's a cracker short..MIKE! Oh Mike I adored Mike...heck the tight tight friendship between Sean, hank, baby & Mike made me jealous lol...
Do yourself a favor & read these two books...they will have you laughing & by the end wishing for this bunch as your family.
Hank falls in love, finally! He resists it, because he's always been a slut rock star who doesn't want or need commitment. His downfall is fun to read about and to find out how loving and protective he can be towards Bell. The tour continues and outgoing Hank and naïve Bell get to know each other. Both their backgrounds are difficult and very different. I loved the flow of the story and the MC's comical interactions as well as their deep conversations. This was a fun story that had deeper undertones.
I was provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I love a good rock star story but, they are usually a bit more gritty. Play Me is a sweet and sensitive love story more suited to a different genre. The tame , lackluster sex scenes coupled with the overly watered down rock scene left me wanting more. I believe Ms Harris is a good storyteller and I would like to read more of her books but, I think her style is more suited to young adult fiction. If you are looking for a typical walk on the wild side you may want to find a different writer but,if you want a interesting well written story, look no further. I have revamped my expectations and I am looking forward to reading the next book.
"I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review." I was about a quarter way through the book when I started to realize that this was the second book of a continuing story. Not a show stopper, but I found myself wanting to know the back story. Do yourself a favor and read the first book before jumping into this one. The stories are similar- but both very enjoyable. I like the rock star love stories and this one didn't disappoint. A nice read overall! Happy Reading....

I found this book to be a very interesting read. I mean, who doesn't like a good romance with a rockstar? Hank is a really great character, I love the way he treats "Baby" and her friend. Especially her friend, Susi. To keep it short and sweet, this a great story about finding your perfect match and fighting for him or her.
Read this a while ago . . . But still a great read.
This is the second story in this series and I totally loved it!! God I love Hank. He is so awesome. He meets Bell and it is a wonderful ride. This is such a good story. I didn't think Miss Kay Harris could do it again but she did! I loved Sean and Baby's story and now I love Hank and Bell's!! I don't want to give any of the story away. I will say that it is worth reading. I am looking forward to reading the next story.
Oh how the mighty have fallen! I swear I feel like the characters in this series are real. The emotions they feel, the struggles they face are what real people face. This just endears the characters to me. I didn't see a third book yet but will definitely keep an eye out for it .
Another Winner by Kay Harris Great getting back with Sean, Baby, Mike and Hank. These characters are so likeable and the camaraderie between them is heart warming. Dani's best friend from college Susi is at a crossroad in her life so what's the answer? Well go on a 2 month tour of course. Looking forward to Book 3
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but knowing so much about Hank from that book made this one even more enjoyable. Great storyline, and good love story. Not the usual sexual details found in so many modern romances. I can't wait to read the next one.
I didn't like this story as much as the first one because I just couldn't relate to Bell. For most of the book it seemed she was using Hank. They both had issues, but I loved Hank. Bell appeared shallow and immature. However, regardless I did enjoy the story.
Excellent love story! Hank and Bell are so perfect I love them. Hot and sexy and incredibly sweet as Hank learns all about love. He is an amazing book boyfriend!! Highly recommend!
This book was an excellent story about two people who were afraid to jump all in to love. It was funny, steamy, emotional and had an HEA. Enjoy it at your leisure. It's worth it.
DNF I rarely leave a book unfinished but this one just really bored me to the point of finding a new book. The main girl annoyed me and I felt like it was a repeat of the first book, which I did like, just didn't want to read the same basic story again.
Excelente libro, me encanto, la historian nuevamente inesperada y el advance del proximo metiene preocupada, experience que esahermana no cause problemas, amo a Sean.
