There are some guys you just can't forget. There are some girls that catch your eye. There are some guys you just can't say no to.
Cody Brookstone. He's my best friend's brother. I've known him for years. Fancied him for what seems like forever. And of course, he's never noticed me. I've always been his sister Mila's annoying friend, but I'm about to change that. Mila came up with a plan for me to snag him. I'm going to make him mine. One way or another. The plan is fail proof. Well, not really. There are plenty of things that can go wrong. Plenty of ways that my own heart will get broken. But what's the path to true love without some risk?
There are some girls you can't get out of your mind. There are some guys that can break your heart. There are some girls that make you rethink everything.
Sally Johnson. My sisters best friend. Sweet, funny, always there. She's got one of those smiles that makes you happy and a body that goes on for days, if you know what I mean. She's crept into my life making me feel things I don't understand. I can't give her what she wants. Even if I love giving her what she needs. Or rather what I need. I didn't expect everything to go crazy. I didn't expect for everything to get out of hand. Now I've gone and got myself in a mess that I don't understand and I can't fix easily. Sally's the one girl that's got me thinking that maybe, just maybe, I don't know it all.
Say You Love Me is a standalone book by New York Times Bestselling Author J. S. Cooper.
WHY OH WHY! The 'Hero' if you could call him that, didn't redeem himself. As far as I was concerned he was not much of a hero. More of an insensitive douche bag. At the end of the novel when he confessed his love, all I thought was, WHY?! I didn't feel any emotional comfort from a happy ending, I just sat there thinking, this girl deserved *SO* much better than what he was giving. The author failed to give this guy redemption and the heroine was in so much damn pain, caused by douche bag. It just bothered the crap outta me and I guess that's why I gave it three stars. Not because it was a beautiful novel with a HEA, because as far as I'm concerned, it wasn't. I gave it three stars because it made me angry and if an author can make you feel any emotions, it at least deserves three stars.
Bad, just bad. I kept expecting this one to get better, but no luck. Cody is an overgrown frat boy who, as far as I can tell, has no job, no scruples and no tact. Sally (the name says it all) is a whiny child that has no self-esteem and lives in a dreamworld. For this story to even remotely turn out right both characters have to be emotional contortionists. The only think about this story that worked was the fact that it ended.
If you’ve read Four Week Fiance then you know Cody as Mila’s brother and Sally as her best friend. If you haven’t read that book, that’s fine, as these are secondary characters that are finally getting their story!
Sally has been in love with Cody for as long as she can remember, but he’s never seen her as anything other than his sisters best friend. When Sally and Mila concoct a plan to make Cody see what he’s missing, Sally is hesitant, but agrees with Mila’s idea and things definitely get interesting.
Cody and Sally end up becoming really good friends, and Cody relies on Sally more than he ever thought, but he’s dense and doesn’t see past her being his friend, and what is really happening. Cody is at times bone-headed and dumb, and says some things that make me want to slap him, and cry for Sally. Sally on the other hand is a great character, but at times way too hung up on Cody and not seeing the other guy right in front of her. Don’t get me wrong, I was rooting for these two since I met them in Mila and TJ’s story, but I was at times like “Sally find someone else who will treat your right!”
Things definitely get interesting between Sally and Cody, as well as pretty hot. Every time I thought things were finally going to work out for these two and they would get on the same page, something happens and it’s like one step forward, three steps back. Sally knows what she wants, but Cody thinks they are just friends and doesn’t realize until it’s too late that it’s definitely more than that.
I must say, watching Cody finally come to the realization about how he truly felt about Sally was beautiful. I loved being inside of his head, even if it was confusing and frustrating at times, it helped see what he saw and didn’t see. His revelation and the way he goes about making things better is beautiful and made me cry tears of joy.
Sally and Cody have a rough time in this book, but when things are good, they are good, but when they are bad, it’s heartbreaking. I really enjoyed their story, and felt all the emotions both of them were going through, I just wish we would have had an epilogue, or something more than how this book ended.
Say You Love Me is perfect for readers who enjoyed Four Week Fiance, or for those who are wanting a friends to lovers romance with a ton of angst!
Say You Love Me will keep you entertained and engrossed the entire book. This is Sally and Cody's story. We First met them in Four Week Fiancé as Mila and TJ's best friends. Mila is Cody's sister and Sally's BFF. They have been friends forever and Sally has been in love with Cody for just as long. Cody is a player. He is sexy, hot and girls fall for him. Cody doesn't do love and relationships, so he isn't sure what to do with the things he feels for Sally. I had so many feelings when I read this book. At times I wanted to cry for Sally because unrequited love is an awful feeling. Plus Cody gave so many mixed signals. I about blew a gasket several times for how Cody acted! There were times I'd laugh, times I'd cry, times I scream and times I'd swoon and fan myself! So buckle up and get ready. You won't know how this is going to turn out until the very end.
Wow, intense, emotional, heartbreaker, such a good story, Sally and Mila have been best friends forever, Mila's brother Cody, has been Sally's crush forever. She has grown to love him, but he still sees her as his sisters best friend, a line he cannot cross, although he certainly would like too. The feelings are mutual, the flirting, the banter, yet he doesn't think she has those feelings, and vise/ versa, so heartbreaking!!! This is a must read, great story, broken hearts❤️!
Why did I bother finishing this book when the characters were already annoying me 20% into the book?? I normally enjoy JS Coopers books and didn't enjoy this one at all. All the text of their inner dialogue just kept dragging on and on. I felt that the story line was dull and it was so much longer thn it should've been. Anyway, thumbs down for this one.
Cody And Sally’s Angsty Story Is About An Emotionally Immature Bachelor And The Woman He Finally Realizes That He Cannot Live Without!
This is the third book in the Four Week Fiancé series. Books one and two are TJ and Mila’s story. The third and final book of the series follows Cody and Sally, their best friends. Cody and Mila are siblings, and both Cody and Sally make repeated appearances throughout the first two book in the series. While it is recommended to read the first two books first prior to the third, it is nevertheless possible to read this book as a stand-alone.
From book one:
Mila Brookstone, twenty-two, is an enigma. She is both a realist and a dreamer. A recent college grad, she worked her way up from secretary to an assistant job in the buying department of her family’s business. The new job was not accompanied with a pay increase and she is frustrated that she isn’t allowed to make actual decisions. She wants more responsibility, but her father is concerned about being accused of nepotism. She spends too much for her meager earnings and is messy, very unlike her organized best friend Sally. They’ve been friends since kindergarten and share everything, but they won’t attempt living together again. It hadn’t worked out well when they tried it in college. Sally happens to be in love with Cody, Mila’s older brother. Cody, however, is too busy with his playboy lifestyle to pay her any attention. Mila has had a crush of her own for years. Her brother’s best friend makes her want to hit him and kiss him at the same time. Each fall her family spends a weekend at their lake house. Mila’s best memories have happened there, in part due to the fact that her brother’s best friend normally attends, too. She is a woman now, a working college grad, but she knows it is up to her to make the first move so this year she has a plan to seduce him. Finding Mila’s enthusiasm infectious, Sally has ideas of her own.
TJ Walker, twenty-eight, is a millionaire in his own right thanks to an inheritance from his grandparents. But he lives in the shadow of his billionaire father. The nonchalant playboy smiles for the cameras, but TJ knows it is all a façade; underneath his father’s public persona is a cold and calculating man. Both TJ and his father’s wealth has caused more than a few to try to latch on to TJ, and he shudders when anyone wants to talk about his famous father. He has been best friends with Cody for twenty years, though, and their friendship is tried and true. They both enjoy a playboy lifestyle while working for their fathers. Cody does the accounting for his family business, which has hit hard times during the dip in the economy. TJ works for his father, too. He has plans for expansion and cost savings that will put the company in a strong position going forward, but his cheapskate father doesn’t have the foresight to see the value gained by a little up front investment. Instead, his father is pressuring him to do something that TJ knows is very wrong. He will do it, though. He has a plan, and he promises his father he will come through by the end of the weekend. But if the plan veers off course, TJ will be ruined.
TJ and Mila had played a game for years. Flirting and arguing, even a kiss once she had turned eighteen. But both enter the weekend with a plan to bring their relationship to the next step. Their plans go down the drain, however, because they get caught up in their games. Things get complicated when TJ invites Barbie along as his date. Then Mila’s fake boyfriend Troy suddenly materializes, adding to the chaos. Many hurt feelings occur during the course of the weekend, but somehow TJ and Mila manage to get some alone time together. Mila has dreamed of a romantic evening leading to losing her innocence to TJ. TJ has other ideas, though. He likes danger. He likes dark and dirty. He wants to show her who he really is, but isn’t sure she will stick around once she knows him. Their story ends in a cliffhanger.
In book two:
TJ and Mila return home and embark on their fake four week engagement. Mila gets to see a different side of TJ. He is dark, but beyond that he seems to shut down every time he is on the verge of opening up. He is keeping things from Mila, and she wavers between patience and recognizing the writing on the wall. TJ finds himself overwhelmed when Mila moves in, but he quickly grows to like having her living with him. But love and relationships aren’t in the cards for him. They always end in pain, and that is a bitter truth that he had learned the hard way in his youth. It shaped him. It was best to live in black and white. Night and day, with no shades of grey. It was best for both him and Mila if he didn’t fall in love. Especially because the truth would come out soon, and Mila would never forgive him. But Mila has a secret of her own that might cause a ripple, and she isn’t the only one. TJ and Mila move forward enjoying their time together but with the knowledge that things are not right between them. Their relationship is unclear and their future uncertain. Mila continues to love him quietly, and TJ enjoys the comfort he feels in her presence. But the deal he made weighs heavily on his conscience. It no longer seems the harmless business transaction that he had anticipated because hearts are on the line.
TJ and Mila’s story concludes in a more serious tone. Things get real once they embark on their fake relationship. In the first book, the reader gets a peak at Mila’s past via her journal entries over the years. Here, TJ’s childhood and his earlier interactions with Mila are included, giving insight into his thoughts and motivations. Outwardly, TJ is cold. But inside, he is still a hurt little boy, desperate to be loved. Like Mila, he is lonely. Like Mila, he spends time overthinking things. He is held hostage by his fears and insecurities. Mila turns to her beloved Nonno for advice, and the wisdom he offers helps steady her. His words give her solace like they always have as she tries desperately to come to terms with the reality of loving TJ and never feeling his love in return. The book wraps up with all major questions answered.
From book three:
This book opens a few months after the lake house weekend, which is where book one begins. TJ and Mila are now officially engaged, in love, and living together. They would love to see their best friends find happiness as well. They both know that Cody, however, would first need to shed his bachelor lifestyle first.
Sally, roughly twenty-two, is from a broken family. According to book one, her father is second generation Italian and her mother is from Guyana, South America. Here, however, her father returns to Guyana when she is just eleven, and prior to that her parents had shared custody of her since their divorce by the time she was three. Her mother never really recovered from the divorce, but Sally found a surrogate family with the Brookstones – much like TJ had. Despite the fact that they are opposites, Sally and Mila have been best friends since kindergarten. And for Sally, it was love at first sight when she met Mila’s older brother Cody. She and Mila had grown up crushing on Cody and TJ and suffering from their unrequited love. Unlike Mila, who had waited for TJ, Sally is a realist. She had dated throughout the years, and guys loved her exotic beauty. All but Cody, who rarely seems to give her much notice. Those moments when he does pay her attention have meant the world and kept her hopes alive that Cody might one day be open to dating her. When Mila and TJ had gotten together recently, it sparked new hope for Sally. If TJ could give up his playboy ways, it is possible that Cody might follow suit.
Cody Brookstone, roughly twenty-eight, loves his life. He runs the company that his grandfather had started, and in his spare time he enjoys hanging out with TJ, sports, beer, and women. He dates casually but he doesn’t do relationships. He loves the freedom of doing what he enjoys. Because he is unattached, he never needs to worry about hurt feelings, etc. He never makes empty promises to women, so he has no responsibility for their feelings and no guilt after the fact. But things have changed since TJ fell in love with Mila. Cody has other friends, but it was TJ with whom he spent the bulk of his time, and these days he feels a bit lost.
When Mila comes up with a plan to help Sally and Cody along, Sally has reservations. It is the best friend plan. Now that Sally and Cody are so often without their best friends, Mila suggests that Sally simply start hanging out with Cody in a platonic way. That they become best friends. Cody would theoretically want what he couldn’t have, and the hope is that eventually he would become aware of the feelings that he harbored for her. Sally has some doubts. She had been toying with the idea of putting Cody out of her mind for good. Loving him had brought her nothing but heartache, especially now that she is of an age when dating wouldn’t be so taboo. The weekend at the lake house had been a devastating blow. Her self-confidence had sufferered. She lost sleep. And she couldn’t seem to center herself in a world that didn’t revolve around her love for Cody. It had become unhealthy and she knew it. But Mila’s idea had merit, and she couldn’t walk away without trying.
Thanks to a little maneuvering by Mila, Cody and Sally spend time with one another and develop a true friendship. They are comfortable with one another and are a couple in many ways. Cody still seems oblivious to how he hurts Sally, though. He gives her mixed signals. He is jealous one moment and talking about women the next. Sally finds herself deeper in love but with absolutely no hope that Cody will ever consider anything but his own feelings. Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom before change takes place. Cody and Sally eventually win their happy ending.
Cody and Sally’s angsty story is about an emotionally immature bachelor and the woman he finally realizes that he cannot live without. It is more serious in tone and very sad to read as Sally’s feelings are so callously disrespected. It is also hard to read how Sally puts herself through so much while at the same time being acutely aware how unhealthy the situation is. There are rambling scenes that drag – they mostly take place in their heads – but it is rewarding to see the couple follow in TJ and Mila’s footsteps and finally find love. The plot is fairly simple. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Cody and Sally. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was provided a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.
Wow I have to say that from all the books that I have read of J.S. Cooper this is hands down my favorite. I just finish reading this book and I did not wanted to put the book down, this book had me on an emotional roller coaster. Their where parts that it got me angry, laugh, and cried but I love every single minute of it. I am going to tried and keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.
If you had read (Four Week Fiance ) than you had met Cody and Sally, as Cody being Mila brother and Sally her best friend. This is finally their story.
Sally had always had a crush on Cody when she was little but that crush turn out into her falling in love with Cody...Cody always seen Sally as his sister best friend he knew she had a crush on her but he never pay attention it, until now after Mila and TJ got together Cody and Sally where feeling a little left out, but Mila knew how Sally felt for her brother and she came out with a crazy idea. For Sally to become Cody friend and that Friendship to turn into best friend and then more, the more time that Sally and Cody started to spend together the more Sally felt for him. But Cody started to have feeling that he never knew they existed for Sally and he was afraid of it. But when Sally decided to go on a date what Cody and Sally where not expecting was for their world to turn up side down.
I have to say that I love the way how Sally and Cody are with each other, I love it how Cody started to discover those feelings that he have for Sally, even thought he made me mad some time. I love how Sally is how she know what she feels and what she want she made me cried sometime, and what can I say about the Sex Scene are Hot.
I really love and enjoy reading this book, Author J.S. Cooper THANK YOU Again for giving me the chance to read and review this awesome, amazing book and for falling in love with these awesome characters love them.
**************************************ARC given for honest review**************************************************** Sally is still mooning over Mila's brother Cody. She's a bit depressing the way she obsesses over him. She kept insisting her life is over if she can't have him?! That pointed to some serious mental issues there, perhaps depression, perhaps more. I just couldn't grasp how a woman her age could be so emotionally unstable over a man. Sure Mila was a little nutty over TJ, but not to this degree. Cody, well he is just a clueless jerk. He wants his cake but nothing more. He led Sally on a few times to many, but the final straw was his wanting her after she had found someone else. Why not let her move on from him and get herself together? He knew he didn't want what she wanted. I can honestly say I was semi proud of her when she finally stood up for herself. It didn't last nearly long enough, but at least it was a turn in the right direction. Mila, what kind of friend was she being?! She knew her brother was out screwing around still, even after his and Sally's near romp. Yet she was telling Sally to not find someone else?
First I have LOVED every one of J.S. Coopers books, and this one was no different. Although I do wish that a little more was done with Cody redeeming himself in the end of the book. One thing that made this book so good was the friendship between Sally and Mila. But overall good book as usual by J.S. Cooper!
This was just...I have never seen a woman this weak. Where was her backbone? Was she born without one? I could not even for one second imagine being so consumed by a man that I would forget about my dignity and self respect. He's a jerk. And she was just stupid.
This was a okay story, it was a little slow for me. The characters did get there HEA but then it ended. I hope it's more to this story are TJ and Mila wedding.
Not anywhere near as good as books 1 and 2 (Four Week Fiancee and Four Week Fiancee - part 2) Books 1 & 2 were about Mila and TJ, who are lovable characters from the first page. This book, book 3 in the series, was about Cody, Mila's older brother and TJ's best friend; and Sally, who has been Mila's lifelong best friend since childhood. Sally has had a crush on Cody for as long as she can remember, but Cody only looks at her as his annoying little sisters friend. In the first two books, Cody is a complete womanizer and, for lack of a better word, an asshole...(which Mila points out to him quite often!) I was waiting for that to change in this book. I was waiting for the turning point when he would become a likeable character, but for me it never came. He was selfish and immature...and even though he did make me laugh a few times, he never truly redeemed himself. As for Sally, I felt like she was whiny, self-depricating and at times just annoying. I actually felt bad for Mila having to deal with her! For her to keep holding on to her "true love" & "soulmate" feelings for as long as she has for Cody, who treats her terribly even when he (finally) began to realize that she might be more than just his sister's friend, made her look downright pathetic. It almost felt as if the author was obligated to "finish" the series by telling Cody & Sally's story... and I closed the book and actually said out loud "That's it?" It felt like all the heart and soul was poured into the first 2 books, and this was a book of leftovers. I really wanted to like this book...the author is a great writer and the first two books were so well done that this one was a major letdown. Should have kept the series to 2 books! Sorry! Just my personal opinion!
I don’t know what the fuck I just read. I am so disappointed and mad right now. I don’t even know what to say!!
I’m giving this book a one star because I am being generous. The guy is a complete and utter asshole. He couldn’t stop thinking about anyone but himself and then at the end, when he wasn’t, he was given like five minutes when he wasn’t an asshole and then the girl just completely changed her mind and her whole resolution and her whole speech about how she wanted to get over him and be better for herself and then just sap right into his arms, what bullshit!
No one just fucking changes their mind like that. This book has so much unrealistic expectations from the male main character because he’s just an ass and he will remain an ass.
What the f did I just read.
I have set up expectations for my life, not what I want but what I don’t. This is it. This is what I don’t want. Is this bullshit with you thank you love them but I’m as it supposed to be about, then no, I don’t want it hun, it ain’t worth it.
Luke deserves better though. Who the fuck just finds the perfect sweet guy in this world of fucked up men and just decide that no, she didn’t want him and she wanted the asshole instead.
Good story and definitely emotional. The author tugged at my heart strings so many times. I could feel Sally’s pain and at the same time roll my eyes so hard they almost got stuck at Cody and his stupidity. Cody is the perfect example of clueless dude.
Sally has been in love with Cody for years, but he never seems to notice her. Sally is Mila’s best friend and Mila is Cody’s younger sister. Cody has pretty much decided that Sally is too good for him. He doesn’t do relationships. Mila’s genius idea is to put Cody in the friend zone because Cody always seems to want what he can’t have. They become friends but it just hurts Sally’s heart to keep doing it, so she decides to move on from Cody. Will Cody wise up before it’s too late?
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review. We first meet Sally & Cody in 4 Week Fiance as secondary characters, but it was established that Sally was crushing on Cody since she was a teen. Sally went through so many emotions from self-doubt, low self-esteem, and self-loathing that I honestly felt bad for her and wished she would have sought counseling. Cody was a jerk and yet he knew it and didn't want to hurt his sister's best friend. There were times when I wanted Sally to give up and go with someone who honestly saw her worth, but the heart wants what it wants and Cody was it for her.
Cody and Sally’s story is an emotional one that will have you feeling all types of ways. Although this is the third book in JS Coopers “Four Week Fiance” series It is a stand-alone read against the first two books. However to gain a better understanding of the two main characters backstories and how they become to be I recommend reading the other two books first. Like within the first two books JS Coopers writing descriptions of the emotional rollercoaster throughout this book will make you want to continue reading it until the end regardless. Just make sure you have a box of tissues on hand!
3 Stars-Average (it was good but nothing to brag about),
I liked this book. It I didn't give it a higher grading because it was also very annoying. The story line was good but the characters were in their heads too much and they brought you along for the ride. The thoughts and feeling were plausible but I really didn't feel like reading every single detail they were thinking and inner battles they were fighting. The ending came to an abrupt halt so that was a little negative for me. But overall, not a bad story.
Sally has been in love with her best friend Mila’s brother Cody for ever. But he has never been interested in her only other women. She has tried everything with out luck. But Mila has an idea she has to become his best friend and then he will fall in love with her. Everything is going perfect but Sally is afraid that she only will be his best friend and never his girlfriend and then she will end up with a broken heart. This is the third book in a fantastic series. I really enjoyed reading about Sally and Cody and I hoped that Cody would wake up before it was to late. I loved the book
This book has a lot of inner dialogue. There are several pages of just what the main characters are thinking. We do not get as much dialogue between characters, as there are in other stories. This was my least favorite in the Four Week Fiance series. I really enjoyed the other two books, but I wanted a little more from this book. I wanted to get more interaction between the characters other than just their own thoughts. Also, Cody was just not a character I could root for! I wanted her to end up with Luke because he seemed like a better match.
Simple and romantic Sally and Cody's story is simpler than Mila and TJ's story, more romantic in the sense that they both think they are in the friendzone, slowly getting closer. Sally has always been in love with her best friend Mila's brother but she is convinced that he does not, don't see her. The story is very tender romantic, a little hot, slow in evolving, so much Cody does not know where to stand in this firendzone when Sally finally decides to look for something else, with or without him.
This is Sally and Cody's story. If you read Four-Week Fiance, you'll remember them. Sally was the best friend of Cody's sister and had been in love with him forever. Neither of the characters was very likable or had much depth. She was whiney and he was spoiled, lazy, and had wandering eyes. I truly love JS Cooper's books but this was not my favorite. I read a complimentary copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I wasn't that happy about this book. I understand that as an author, you need to describe the feelings of the characters, but this book is so repetitive that I found myself skimming through it. I skim through some of my school books, I don't want to skim through a book I purchased for enjoyment!
I felt like the basket case Sally turned into while reading this. I felt so bad for her with the emotional rollercoaster Cody had her on. So many ups and downs with them. It was picture perfect seeing Cody have a moment of insanity as well when he was finally feeling the feelings and putting all the pieces together.
This is the love story of Cody and Sally. Sally loved Cody since she was a little girl. And now that she is old enough to have him, she tries to get him to fall in love with her back. I like this love story, except it grew out the tug-of-war between Sally and Cody for too long. I was a bit exhausting to me. I enjoyed the sex scenes and the characters. This was an alright reads.
These characters will have you rooting both for and against them. An obsession with a boy will bring her down to her lowest points, can she move on if it doesn't work. His ignorance towards what it right in front of him makes me risk losing everything. Will they have their happily ever after?
Cody and Sally's love story is one of the ages. You don't know what you have until it's taken from you. Cody wants to have it all. The benefits without the commitment or risk to his heart. Sally just wants his love. The angst that Sally goes through breaks your heart and makes you want to smack Cody, but the ending makes up for it all.
