Rate this book

4.5 powerful, HOT Spencer men stars!

I love a strong, powerful man who has it all...or so he thinks, until a common concept like LOVE rocks him senseless! Harrison Reese Spencer is the wealthy, arrogant, and world reknown womanizing brother of Hemi Spencer(All the Pretty Lies).

Reese has always intrigued me as the somewhat aloof, domineering brother. He has obvilusly been conditioned to go after what he wants at any cost by his asshat of a father. This seems to working well for Reese until he finds a blast from his past putting on a show up on the stage of one of his elite clubs.

Kennedy is a beautiful talented woman who loved and lost at a young age. She has fought for her successes and has big dreams, unfortunately Reese Spencer has other plans.

Having shared a young innnocent love between rich and poor, sweet and savvy...they were seperated by circumstances bigger than them...they were shattered...left with the memories of the times they shared in secluded woods.

Instant recognition for both re-sparks the longing, makes lines blurry, and puts them on a road (or ocean) to combustion, especially since Reese gets what he wants! Look out Kennedy...you are about to be devoured!

I really liked this, ALOT! I loved the dancing scenes that were done both classy and beautiful all while laying the seduction that oozed off the pages. I love a good cat and mouse game, especially when both parties want to be caught! Reese was so intense with Kennedy and I loved his reaction to her everytime she was near. I especially loved that there was angst and true a true heartbreaking love story under the heat. No matter how many years pass, you never can forget your first love!!!!

I had really high expectations as I started this book. Overall it was an enjoyable read with a lot of twist towards the end. But I'm still disappointed.

My problems with this book:
First of all Kennedy.
She went through bad things in her teenage years and after Reese broke her heart she went through even worse things.

I have to admit that I don't like drama queens because they can be pretty annoying after a time. But a good amount of drama is totally okay and that's my probem with her. She had every reason to act like a bitch. But she didn't.
She was (don't get me wrong) easy. Even though when she refused to sleep with him for a long time she was easy about
other things. It didnt take Reese long to talk her into things. She was with everything okay.
Towards the end when when Reese fucked up and he went to her to apologize she just said:

and everything was fine again.

Towards the end she said something stupid in my opinion:
"Thank you for loving me even though I'm not rich and I didn't finish high school.."

I think that quote says a lot about her character.

Next Problem was I couldn't connect with Kennedy and Reese.
Kennedy and Reese met when they were teenagers and spent a summer together after that Reese just left her and never came back.
Even though there was a flashback I still couldn't understand how they fell in love and why they fell so hard.
I understand the reasons for Reese leaving but I don't understand why he never came back or searched for her.

So in the first 70% nothing spectacular happend.
The last 30% had a lot of twists.
Some were predictable some were not. The twists were good but in my opinion some of them were not necessary.
A lot of parts were pretty rushed.
The next book will be about Sloane's brother Sig.

Style: Contemporary Romance
Story: GOOD
Intimacy: sex-citingly GOOD
Enjoyment: GOOD
Series: (Pretty) (Book#2)

I have to say, this felt like the movie Flash Dance 2014 revamped. Although I did not get to read the first book in the series, I had no problem following the story and truly and really enjoyed the author's work for this particular story.

Reese and Kennedy knew each other 14 years ago and haven't seen each other since. Now, fast forward to the present, Reese owns high end exotic dance clubs around the world and Kennedy wants to become a professional dancer, as it is her passion. I like that each chapter was either focused on Reese or Kennedy's p.o.v or thoughts, so it felt as though you are getting a front row seat to all that's happening. When the story begins and the moment Reese sees Kennedy on stage, you knew this read was going to be worth the read. I was so caught up in what was unfolding, that Kennedy and Reese keeps referring to the past a few chapters in and I don't know what their complaining about or what happen as we aren't aware of the past, but the encounter between these two after years apart was engaging to me. Up to a certain part in the book, It's like a game of offense and defense, watching Reese pursues and watching Kennedy block, hahaha which was fun to see along with the twist and turns of a few characters thrown in.

This story is definitely a contemporary romance and isn't hard core erotica, however, the sexual chemistry between Reese and Kennedy as the story unfolds is exciting to see. Without giving too much away, their first actual sexual encounter on the yacht while she was rehearsing, Wowsie...wow, that got a wide eye moment from me. I commend the author on that scene, if you were falling asleep while reading, that little scene should wake you right up. It was the way it happen that made you think, uh oh, Reese just went into animal mode and SHIT, just got real.

The story didn't focus too much on Kennedy's passion for dancing, but the storyline about the past made up for that for me. I really had no dislikes and for my personal taste, the story flowed well. The other characters, loved them no complaints there, however, Sig is a character in this story. Sig's story is next.. smh...hahah, I think Sig needs to get laid badly, he was like a horn dog. But besides that, he was still a likable character.

Overall, I was entertained, content and loving this story and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This one honestly started off for me as a 3 star read. I'm not sure where it took a turn from good to excellent but by the end it was definitely a 4.5 star read for me. There were a few parts of the story that were dramatic that I felt could have gone over a little smoother or had a different twist to it and that's why I held back the .5 star.

Overall, this was amazing!!! Reese is one sexy-sexy beast, good gracious he did somethings that almost lit my Kindle on fire. It definitely lit me up. I really liked Kennedy overall. She wasn't too annoying and at times I really felt for her and what she went through.

I liked the premise of them being stuck on a boat together and having to interact with each other. I also loved the way Reese changed and grew. It was fantastic really. I cannot wait for Sig's story!!!

2,5 stelle.

I was very excited to get Harrison "Reese" Spencer's book in All the Pretty Poses. There was just something about him, albeit brief in All the Pretty Lies, that had me wanting and needing more.

Reese is a man driven by power. He's built an empire on luxury, fantasy and excess. It's something he takes immeasurable pride in. That is until Kennedy Moore, his childhood love comes back into his life unexpectedly.

Kennedy Moore spent years healing her heart from the loss of Reese from her life. She over came great adversity to build a life that was hers and made her happy. Despite hardships and struggles she clawed her way away from the darkness, with one goal in mind...to become a dancer.

In a twist of fate, Kennedy finds herself dancing at one of Reese's many burlesque-like dance clubs, unbeknownst to either of them. On one of his rare visits they spot each other and all the past love and pain comes flooding back for them. Reese is so intrigued by the girl he once knew and in the woman now before him that he bribes her into working as an entertainer on one of his pleasure cruise yachts for a chance at an audition with a real professional dance troupe. Of course it's with ulterior motives that Reese makes this offer and he doesn't hesitate to make clear what he wants from her.

As they spend time together on the cruise it's both a pleasant and painful reminder of their past. But nothing stops all the old feelings from blossoming again and growing. The pull between Reese and Kennedy is undeniable, even when she tries to fight it. Their chemistry is like Greek fire, nothing can put it out.

Kennedy is smart and charming, beautiful, strong, and a survivor. It may take some convincing but she eventually can't help but give into her heart - and body - when it comes to Reese.

Reese - a known playboy - is strong, sexy, and a bit caveman, which let's face it, every woman wants a little of in her man! He's always been drawn to Kennedy, more so now than ever before, when he sees the woman she's become.

Things aren't as simple as falling back into what once was though. There are secrets. LOTS of secrets...some dark and twisty that will gut you and tear out your heart...leaving you emotionally hung over and yet pleasantly sated by the very end.

ATPP was everything you'd expect from a book by Michelle. It's smart and fun, sexy and intriguing, with plenty of twists and turns that keep you hanging on. I can't wait for whatever comes next in this series.

My first M. Leighton book was All the Pretty Lies and I really enjoyed it…Hemi and Sloane were both enjoyable characters with compelling backstories and it was a fast read. However, All the Pretty Poses knocked my socks off! I couldn't get enough of this book. It was fast paced and hard to resist. I sat at work trying to not think about what would happen next and I finally succumbed and finished it at work!

Reese Spencer is rich, handsome, and privileged. Kennedy Moore could argue that he might be heartless as well. Being center stage at an exotic dance club was a means to an end for Kennedy. She used dance as an escape from a life and past she chooses to forget. Little does she know that one night will change everything as she comes face to face with Reese Spencer….the boy who promised her so many things one day in the woods. The boy she loved.

Reese is floored. As he watches the dancer and realizes it is Kennedy, the girl who he still thinks about after 14 years, Reese is floored. He never imagined seeing Kennedy in one of his clubs or he can't believe that she is dancing for a living. He wants to know why Kennedy is dancing, what she has been doing with her life. He wants all the answers so he makes her an offer she can't refuse.

The heat between Reese and Kennedy is palatable. It oozes off each and every page. Kennedy tries desperately to keep it professional between the two of them but her feelings can't stay buried with Reese pushing to be with her. He is hard to resist and Kennedy isn't so sure that she wants to even after all the hurt he caused when they were younger. Reese assumes that all he needs to do is get Kennedy out of his system and he can move on with his life. He is sorely mistaken and it is great fun to see him realize how much he needs Kennedy in his life. The emotional ride that Kennedy and Reese take together is fantastic. Their backstory seems simple at first but as the book progresses, it turns absolutely heart wrenching. I couldn't put the book down!

This is a must read for 2014. I now must read all of M. Leighton's books because I am a fan!

3.5/5 💖

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

Before you start reading All the Pretty Poses, run to the store and buy some Kleenex, because it's going to tear you up!! If All the Pretty Lies was a chocolate sundae with a cherry on top, All the Pretty Poses is a double chocolate sundae with a cherry on top, coated in 14K gold!!

The opening scene was one of the most descriptive, intriguing, and completely addictive scenes that I have ever read. I felt like I was front and center watching Kennedy dance with my own two eyes, and it didn't stop there. From the club, to each place they sailed, it was almost like I was right there in the book with them!

Reese is the typical rich kid with daddy issues, and he as much as he fights being like his father, right up until the end, he acts a LOT like him. In fact, I started out really liking him, but towards the end I thought I was going to finish the book not really like him at all. Thankfully the author is a master at manipulating your feelings, and with lines like " I've loved you from the moment I met you. For fourteen years I've loved you, and I'll love you for a million more." she thoroughly redeems Reese in the end!

If one paragraph out of the whole book could describe Kennedy, It would be "I turn away from my reflection and walk towards the door. There's no place to go but forward. I learned a long time ago that I can never go back.". She's equal parts strong, stubborn, honest, and sweet. I love that she doesn't lie to herself about her feelings for Reese. "...I knew then just like I know now that Reese nearly destroyed me once, and that he might do so again, but I'm helpless to stop it. I'll love him until there's nothing left. And then long after. It's inevitable. He's inevitable." With her life philosophy of "Life either crushes us or polishes us" she has stepped up to fill the shoes of my favorite heroine to date. While she's strong, she also vulnerable, and just wants to find someone she can trust, even if that means risking a broken heart.

Right when I got comfortable with the story, when it was the typical guy and girl meet again, sparks fly, they're happy, then something comes between then, they overcome that, then they live happy ever after, the author totally switches things up. There's not one twist, or even two, but three times my mind was blown because I didn't see it coming. It would almost be easier to count what I DIDN'T highlight, rather than what I did, because with lines like "I woke up with a raging hard-on. The same one I went to bed with. The one I got from seeing Kennedy up on that stage. The one that the hot waitress who could suck a golf ball through a garden hose couldn't get rid of last night. That hard-on." , I pretty much highlighted the whole book!!

Only having 5 stars just isn't fair; when you have a week long book hangover, you know this isn't just a book you want, it's a book that you absolutely need!! Your eReader and bookshelves will thank you...I promise!!

I like me' some good olde second chance romance. You know- young couple found each other again after sooo many years..

Typical old story that we probably read a million times but it never gets old.. lol!

I liked the first book but sadly this one didn't do it for me. All the Pretty Poses started great with a lot of twist that would make your head spin and kept me on the edge but sadly it ended flat.

90% was a revelation after revelation.. like a wham bam thank you ma'am!
I forgive you, let's forget! THE END! YAY! (not!)

This book has a lot of potential, great quotes and scenes and it was written very well but it came out an average read.

Salve a tutti.

Buona lettura.

Recensione in ANTEPRIMA
.

.

~~ 5 Second Chance Stars ~~

Well I will say it again….Michelle Leighton can do NO wrong!!!! She is and will always be a go to author for me. Anything she writes I will read. I love her stories. She is creative and her writing, In My Opinion, is flawless. Her stories are smooth and flow very well. All the Pretty Poses was no different. I absolutely LOVED book 1, All the Pretty Lies, and was beyond excited to see another book was being written. We didn't see Reese much in Book 1 but what we do see, I was intrigued by. I love how Michelle is able to create a story that captivates the reader right from the start and doesn't stop until the book is done. I have the same feeling every time I read one of her books….I can't ever put it down and want to read it as fast as I can so that all the answers come out, but then once I get to the end, I am sad because it was over to quickly. She has such a great ability of creating a story that has the right amount of humor, steam, love, betrayal, secrets and lies. This book was a little different from book 1 in the fact that it was a second chance love story between Reese and Kennedy. We didn't get the suspenseful aspect like book 1 but she did make it interesting in the connection between Reese and Kennedy with all of the sexual tension, and she was able to throw in some secrets and lies that you don't see coming. I was completely floored when secrets and the truths were starting to be revealed. I could go on and on about this book/series and the author but I am just going to say….READ THIS BOOK, you won't be sorry.

Like I said earlier, we are briefly introduced to Reese in book 1, but we get so much more of him in this book. He was such a great character….the right mix of sweet, sexy and Alpha/possessive. I will say that he does come off as kind of cold in the beginning but that is because of how he was raised by his A$$ of a father. (As you can tell I didn't like his father much.) I will say that Reese was a very driven man….he knew what he wanted out of life and did whatever he could to achieve it. Although he was a little weak willed when he was a teenager, but I guess what do you expect from a young man. Reese and Kennedy were together many years ago when she was 15 and he was 16. They were from 2 different worlds, which in the end, ended up separating them. This story takes place 14 years later when Reese sees Kennedy dancing at one of his clubs. From there on out Reese would do anything to get back with Kennedy….and I mean ANYTHING!!!! Kennedy was also a strong character. She also had goals in her life and was not willing to compromise on those, not even for Reese. As the story goes on and her past is revealed….WOW….I couldn't believe what she went through. But it also explains her determination to make something better for herself. I truly loved the connection these two had. I also loved that it took some work for Reese to gain Kennedy's trust again after everything he did when he was younger.

I will say that this book really focused on Reese and Kennedy, we did get to see some of Hemi, Sloane, and Sloane's brother Sig, but really that isn't a very big part of the story. Again Michelle was able to create a little bit of drama in this book, but again it was very short lived, which I LOVE!!!!

I would definitely recommend this book and series to EVERYONE. Like I have said before if you are looking for a book/series that has a little bit of everything then this is the one for you. I can't wait to see what she does from here with this series. I truly hope it doesn't end :)

OH MY!! M. Leighton has done it again..
Loved this book... Holy crap!!!
Full review:
Speechless, yeah, that is the best way to start this...
You know that feeling you when you finish a book and you are wrapped up in so many emotions that you just can't speak? Well that is me after finishing All the Pretty Poses. I was eagerly awaiting this novel because All the Pretty Lies was my favorite read of 2013. I was sitting here wondering...how is M. Leighton going to top ATPL??
Well I should have known better. All the Pretty Lies shines a bright light and now All the Pretty Poses shines just as bright. It didn't have to top ATPL because it shines bright all on its own...
I mean, we are dealing with different characters and different storylines in which they are just addicting as Hemi and Sloane.
Who are these amazing characters??
Let's meet Reese and Kennedy....the stars of All the Pretty Poses.
Told in dualing POVs, we get the opportunity to relate and connect to both Reese and Kennedy. This to me is perfect. I love being able to be in both their heads. Experiencing their emotions and thoughts. Each giving you insight in to their own history and background allowing you to see where each has been and where each wants to go. This tumultuous journey that they have us traveling on kept me swept up in their tale and giddy with all the thoughts of what may come...
With Reese being Hemi's older brother, we see so many goals placed on his life. He had to be "that" brother, taking over the business, not caring about heart in his chest.
But all those walls he built up over the years can't keep out the one person that his heart could never forget.....Kennedy.
Kennedy has grown up with extreme hardships, leading her to do work her hardest and do the one thing she loves to do....dancing.
When these two run in to each other again, it becomes explosive and lives change, hearts melt, and the romance flames!!
But life storms in on this couple causing horrendous waves of past insecurities and histories to surface.
With unexpected surprises and shocking revelations, does this romance burn out or is it stoked for an eternity?
I absolutely LOVED this story. I went through so many emotions while journeying with these two...I laughed, I fanned myself from the steamy moments, I got angry, and I cried when my heart was so overwhelmed...
A beautiful love story that carries your heart on an emotional roller coaster ride that you will not want to put down!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

In All the Pretty Poses, Michelle manages to capture the essence of fate/destiny leading you to where you should be even if you detour off that path along the way. Circumstances conspire to set you back on track, I utterly adore his concept.

Reese is Hemi’s (All the Pretty Lies) oldest brother and let’s be honest at the beginning of the story he is a total douche. He may be rich and good-looking but he treats people like commodities, taking what he wants and then disposing of the rest. As his story unfolds it is easier to understand him. Controlled by his overbearing, a**e of a father, trying to mould him into a mini-version of himself. Revelations show a vulnerability to Reese I wouldn’t have expected, the desire to please his parents has been the impetus behind most of his life’s choices, good and bad.

Kennedy is a brilliant character, tragic events have shaped her while she is guarded with her emotions, she is also a wonderfully caring and loving person. She puts other people first even when they don’t deserve it. Hints of major events in her past that have impacted her future add to the tension within the narrative. To be honest I am really good at guessing these things, I think it’s because I read so much. However, there were a number of twists I didn’t see coming and utterly shattered me.

The story unfolds with a mix of past revelations, both Reese and Kennedy’s and current action. Emotion fuelled scenes ensure a fast paced, compelling, page turner.

I loved the inclusion of Hemi and Sloane although it was far too brief :) I cannot wait to see whose story is next.
