A the end of the last book we finally learn Bart's secrets and see his true self. That's also when Cody and Tessa realize Deanna is a bigger problem than they thought. Jared, Ian and Wendy get attacked in the Council Hall basement, you know that's not good.
Tessa needs to take total control back, but she's not exactly sure how to do that and be sure Deanna can never her take over again. The whole Deanna thing is messing with Cody, he loves Tessa but he's having a lot of trouble with that whole takeover thing.
Rhea discovers she hadn't yet sent Seth away, and when she's about to hide out to hitch a ride to the blood farm, she discovers Ian, Wendy and Jared in the back of the van. Jared does manage to send a text out before he can't move anymore. Rhia knows has to somehow protect them and find Seth.
Serus is recovering from being stabbed by Bart, that he lived at all was all Tessa and her new ability to manipulate energy. Of course he isn't going to stay down, Rhia's his wife, Seth is his son, one way or another he wants to get to them both.
David finally finds Jewel and when he hears about the ambush where Jared's phone led Tessa, Cody and Motre, he believes it's an attempt to get everyone away from Council Hall.
Sending their father's back to the Council Hall, Cody and Tessa with Motre decide to go the long way there. Through the tunnel from the hospital to the Hall. Traveling through the tunnel they make a startling discovery of yet another form of experiments the blood farms have been doing. Dogs or wolf-dog hybrids trained to attack, they die with silver too. In largest of these animals Tessa saw enough light to cure him.
Serus takes command unwilling at Council Hall while Goran leads the human army to where they believe the entrance to the blood farm is.
A tower room holds some interesting clues and Tessa gets an idea of who might be in charge. The elders who were council members are called in by Jameson causing quite the uproar. Fearing a vote that could take them all back to the dark ages Sian and the others work to find all the council members still alive.
It's become a battle of not only the enhanced vampires, but also time as this book springs surprise after surprise on us.
I'm starting the final book in this series. I am so very thankful this is a completed series.
Each book in this series is like popcorn - you can't stop eating it. Good writer, nice dilemma in the story which keeps you reading. If you don't like cliffhangers don't start on them.
Dale does it again....she leaves us hanging, sitting on the edge of our seats and holding on for dear life. We can finally see the light at the end of the long, dark, scary, tunnel, but oh does she take us on a ride to get there.
Things are starting to finally look up for almost everyone, but of course others are still in peril. This book gets your mind guessing, your pulse racing, and body tingling and antsy as to what in the world can happen next!
It had been a while since I had read book 8 in the series, so it took me a bit to get back into the story with all the characters and what was happening to them. This is written as a multi pov (and I do mean multi) About half of the characters pov is provided since so many things are going on at the same time in different locations.
OH! And speaking of series, these books must be read in order and can not be read as a stand alone. Don't even try to jump in the middle of the series. You must read in order to get the full understanding of this story and the characters. But that's okay, you'll love it anyway :)
Great story line, awesome characters, descriptions to details were done nicely and the dialogue was easy to follow.
I was given this copy as a ARC for a fair and honest review.
This is book is number #9 in the series of Family Blood Ties by Dale Mayer. I'm pleased to say I have read almost every book written by this Author. She writes very well and never disappoints but warning her cliffhangers will drive you crazy and leave you wanting more. And I highly recommend that you read the other 8 in order to be able to get the complete story of what's going on. The series is about a Vampire girl named Tessa that was born able to go into the sun without out burning to ash the rest of her family isn't so lucky, while growing up Tessa was always considered odd different and some what a out cast because she could go out in the sun and didn't act like a Vampire because she didn't need to drink blood to stay alive she could eat normal human food and most of her friends were human she didn't have very many vampire friends except for her family and her brothers friends. Now she's come into her skills and has been working with her family to try and weed out the evil Vamps that are building blood farms when they think they have it figured out more pop up or some of her friends and family start missing again will it ever end you must read the series to find out all I can say is I love love this series and now can't wait for the next installment.
Tessa and Cody grow even closer together despite the fear and uncertainty that threatens to tear them apart. I love how the author details their thought processes, the logic as to why they are thinking certain things, and reasoning behind their decisions. It makes their emotions and reactions less teen angsty and much more mature. The one thing that stood out about this book was the every changing scenery that Tessa and Cody were faced with. We have been used to the bulk of the action taking place in one location, but in this one they are in the hospital, blood farm, the council, etc. It leaves you with a very unsettling feeling, one that matches what they must be feeling as they try to stop the takeover of the world as they know it.
While we are used to the characters being in the middle of a war, there is nothing dull or expected in this book. New challenges are constantly being thrown at the characters and they always rise to meet them. Whether it is Rhia trying to overcome the effects of the drugs and find Seth or Jared rallying those around him to save his friends, the overwhelming sense of purpose and the importance of family and friendshi infuses every element of the story.
I cannot wait for the next one. No really I can't...I need it now!
Vampire in Control by Dale Mayer Blood Ties Series Book Nine The characters continue as the war rages between the vampires running blood farms and the heroines and heroes fighting their own people to save the humans and stop this evil.
Tessa, Cody, and Motre are one team fighting their way through the enhanced vampires to find the leaders and destroy the blood farms while Sian tries to hold the communications fort down. David has been searching for Jewel. Ian, Wendy, and Jared are in a bad place once again as well and they have Rhia with them. Only...is she the good Rhia, or the bad one?
Serus and Goran are waiting and ready for action. Serus knows Rhia is searching for Seth and he knows that many of the vampires would rather kill her then take the chance she's off the drugs and back to her normal self.
This book takes the reader through many battles and several surprises...good and bad...for Tessa. It's not the finale though. The war still rages on. Enemies and friends still hard to distinguish from each other. I'm looking forward to the next book already to see where this author is taking the readers on this journey. **Mild language http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
OH Ms. Mayer why do you torture me so. Just when you think what else can go wrong, you open up a door to complete chaos. Tessa and Deanna are in battle for control making everyone question Tessa's motives. The good guys keep getting picked off and the bad guys seem to just appear and disappear without a trace. For every step forward they move the end up two steps back. Tessa's powers are growing and the more she learns the stronger she becomes. This one was written a little different then the others and we jumped around from point of view to point of view. Each chapter was a look at their individual interactions with the bad guys leading up to the foretold final encounter for all the glory. The excitement, the discoveries, the challenges and some new and interesting twists and turns quickly pull you in as you lose yourself in this amazing storyline. Start banging you head now because you guessed it, as you turn the last page you get ??????? A cliffhanger worthy of four letter words and thrown e readers. Ms. Mayer brings you so close, dangles the carrot and then slams the door. Not very nice Ms. Mayer, but I will try to wait patiently for you to bring me the next chapter of this epic adventure. However, I am not above begging so please do hurry and write fast. :)
Tessa and Deanna are fighting for control in Tessa's body, when Tessa wins, she's not completely sure if Deanna is gone for sure or still there and can possibly come back. As the gang still all separated try to figure out the solution to what is going on with the blood farms, more secrets start to emerge. Who can you trust when people you thought were on your side are actually on the other side of this war? Another cliff hanger in this story, I can't wait for the next book to find out who heads the blood farms.
While Tessa, Cody and her friends and family realize that there is a long way to go to be rid of the blood farm's, they are getting split up again... And when that happens, all hell breaks loose. Tessa and Cody are in for the battle of their lives, especially with Deanna in the background. You have to read this book. It's awesome! And I won't be giving you any spoilers, sorry...
Action and mystery rolled into one book. I can't wait to read the next one to find out who really us running rtf he blood farm. I've had my suspicion s since the first book but this author likes to throw in twists and turns, especially once you believe you have it all figured out!
Amazing!!! I have literally devoured this series. I got the first book for free and was HOOKED!!! As in, I read all nine books in 8 days. LOVE!!! So intense, love the characters, and now, I am DYING!!!! I can't wait for the next one!!!
