This book gave me incredible insight, not only into my Reiki practice, but also into how it helps animals. I've used it with my own cats with incredible benefits!

If you have never tried Reiki, it provides a good introduction to Reiki in the first chapter. If you have tried Reiki, it gives some great information on how to use it with animals. I learned so much from reading this book and intend to keep it as a resource for my own Reiki practice!

It seems appropriate that I finished reading this book on the day that I received certification in Level 1 Reiki.

This book was recommended to me during a session with an animal chaplain after the unexpected death of my youngest cat, Teddy, due to an aneurysm. I was asked by my work volunteering with shelter animals and Rev. Nancy Schluntz suggested that Reiki might be useful to my work in that environment. She recommended that I start by reading this book.

Honestly, I was almost immediately overcome by a sense of both calm and urgency to begin doing this work myself during the time I read the text. Authors Kathleen Prasad and Elizabeth Fulton, both Reiki Masters, share their experience working with pets, wildlife, rescued animals in sanctuary, and their own growth as practitioners as a result.

This book is a loving look at the benevolent healing properties of Reiki and how it benefits our animal friends. Interestingly enough, it was also the first book on Reiki that the Master who trained me read, and she was led to begin training herself as a result.

Highly recommended for those who want to learn a new way of healing.

A very informal book full of personal stories, unlike the structured teaching style of many other reiki books. The authors include the basics and lots of ideas for variations based on your and the animals' needs and your intuition. The chapters each deal with reiki for a specific type of issue (such as type of animal, senior animals, shelter animals, etc.). Thus, there is lots of repetition both within and between chapters. Decent pictures help to illustrate how to perform reiki on many different types of animals.

Recommended for anyone looking to further their reiki practice, even if it's only for their own animal companions. Also recommended for anyone that might deal with animal reiki practitioners, such as veterinarians or shelter volunteers, so that they have an understanding of what it entails.

NOT recommended as a beginner reiki book. The basics of reiki are NOT included in this book. In my opinion, this book is useless without some previous understanding of reiki.

As a Reiki master, I am always looking to improve my abilities to communicate and to heal. I also volunteer in animal welfare so am working with a previously abused animal. This is a good book that offer pointers on how to communicate better and I use it more as a reference guide that I refer to often.

“Animal Reiki: Using Energy to Heal the Animals in Your Life” by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad (2006) earned the “I like it” rating from me. I’ve been recommending this book based on a skim read I did when I first purchased the book years ago. Now that I’ve read it I am really glad that I did. It is filled with inspiring stories that I read aloud to others because they were so special.

These ladies have clearly done a lot of Reiki on animals! It shines through in their respect for the animals they help, often in a shelter situation. I particularly enjoyed learning how they approach a new animal and even their own animals for permission each time they offered a treatment.

They also have the unique distinction of sharing techniques for giving Reiki to raccoons.

The appendix is full of good resources for finding Reiki teachers and further information on natural healing for animals.

This book will give anyone interested in Reiki a lot to grow on, whether you’ve been a teacher for years like me, or you’re just starting to learn about the amazing world of animals and Reiki.

There are plenty of books on the market covering Reiki for dogs & cats, but this book includes all animals, from fish to birds to horses to wild & farm animals. Elizabeth & Kathleen are so sensitive, respectful & caring toward animals; their love for them is very clear by the tone of voice & advice offered in this book. My only complaint is that the sidebars, as helpful as they are, break up the flow of the book - I wish there was a smoother way to incorporate these heartwarming & inspiring stories. Recommended for all Reiki students who love animals.

Overall I thought this was a great book. The only reason I didn't Give it a 5 stars is because there was a lot of repetition. Which I understand to a point, because they break down how to deal with different animals, but at some point you're just like, okay I get it already. Other than that though I really loved it and I thought that they both really put themselves and all their years of knowledge and first hand experiences into this book. I appreciated the personal stories they included of animal clients they worked with to show real life applications. If you're looking for a book to teach you reiki this is not it. But they did give little bits about what reiki is and how you can use it, but this is in no way a manual on reiki in general, if that is what you are looking for. I am already a level 2 Reiki Practitioner and Animal Reiki Practitioner and I am going into my class to become a reiki master but I have been digging deeper into animal Reiki as my true calling. This book is definitely something you will want to read. I have already used some of their techniques on my dogs and it's incredible the difference it has made! They are so much different than humans. I would definitely read any other book either of these ladies put out as well. They definitely have grown into their passion to heal animals and this book proves it.

I loved this book. Having taken Reiki I and practicing healing on people, I decided to try it on a few dogs. They seem to know instinctively that you are trying to help. In fact, animals I've never met on the street come up to me. This book, Animal Reiki, helped me understand that when an animal has had enough, they walk away. I especially loved the case histories of the animals the author has treated, including domesticated and wild animals. I highly recommend this book.

I wanted to read this book as I was training to become a Reiki Master and I am glad that I did. It gave insight into the treatment of various animals while utilizing actual client stories and scenarios to do so. It's helped me broaden my study and practice of Reiki immensely and shown me how diverse Reiki can be.

Inspiring

Throughout the book, Elizabeth and Kathleen tell of personal experiences with a variety of animals. These are a joy to read, and show how we can all continue to learn along the way. The book also reminds us not to be disheartened during our development if things don't go as we expect, but to trust in reiki and our own ability.

Very good for clear, foundation understanding of giving reiki to animals and how to take your practice beyond working with people! I loved the personal stories of the animals that were helped

This book is a wonderful example of the use of energy medicine. The way the authors wove together their personal experiences while describing the concepts of Reiki shows the benefits of this healing modality.

This book is so well written! While it is especially useful as a reference book for reiki practitioners, it is easy and fascinating reading for anyone. It may even inspire you to learn reiki in order to have a closer, more in-depth relationship with your beloved pets.

As mentioned by others, there is a lot of repetition of throughout out the chapters, but there needs to be. Most, of the procedural steps for giving reiki are the same for all animals. But, the person who needs specific information on how to treat a hamster injury right this instant is not going to read the chapter on dogs where it was first introduced. When reading from cover to cover the first time round, I actually came to appreciate the repetition as reinforcing info that I was likely to remember with ease.

The stories of individual animals are heartwarming. Each animal’s intelligence, fears, love, and finally trust shine through. They also show the variation of individual responses & therefore the variation of techniques that can be used. The stories did interrupt the flow of the chapter information for me. It would be great if they were used as spacers between the larger chunks of info. such as between Overview, Distance Healing, and Hands-on rather than sprinkled throughout.

I highly recommend this book!

This was a very interesting book that really opened my eyes to all of the healing possibilities with Reiki. I enjoyed the individual case studies and the photographs, which helped me to understand the various options for hand positions.

The only thing I found a bit annoying was how often the authors repeated the same information across several chapters when discussing how to treat different species of animals. While they did emphasize the differences between each, I still felt at times as if I was rereading the same information slightly reworded for the 3rd time!

Overall this was a really informative book and an easy read.

I'm a Reiki Master but when it comes to animals, I only have experience in channelling for my own dogs. One of my students wishes to work with animals, in particular horses, so I bought this book which was very informative although repetitive at times. One thing I did not know was that anyone (in the UK) wishing to treat an animal that isn't their own has to legally get permission from the animal's vet.

So far this book is making me feel comfortable performing reiki on my pets. I have only studied level I Reiki and cannot do distance-healing. But this book makes me anxious to study level II!

I was hoping that this would teach you how to *do* Reiki, but it did not. Luckily, I just tried it on my own and saved my cat. :)

Good if you've already taken reiki courses. This will not help if you don't know anything about reiki-it does not teach reiki
