Research began on this book before the mass suicide/murder occurred in Jonestown, Guyana. The authors were convinced that Peoples Temple was headed for forced mass suicide and this prompted them to begin researching this book before Temple members had even left for Jonestown, Guyana. The book is a full investigation of Jones’s career. Also the lives of the people behind the scenes are more thoroughly examined. The authors attempt to find the rationale behind the allegiance many felt to Jones. This is overall a very insightful account that suffers only because of the ending. It ends too abruptly and the aftermath of what occurred at Jonestown is not discussed. The book does not contain a bibliography or an index.
