Born out of wed-lock to a soldier fighting in Vietnam and a young Mormon girl, Heidi spent her early years in a foster home where she was sexually abused by her adopted father and his friends. Despite this, she loved school - and learning - and writing. In her teens Heidi got into drugs, alcohol and began running away from home. She hitch-hiked across the country and traded sex for rides, food and drugs - coming back to the Pacific Northwest she joined alcoholic anonymous, returned to school and tried so hard to live a normal life. These short stories, written by Heidi, give us an insight into a wonderful talented girl and the underworld in which she was trapped. She wanted so much to learn and to be 'normal' going in and out of the social system. But in the end she was too damaged by her early years. This book is dedicated to her lovely grandaughter who is bright and beautiful - loved and cherished.
