Madison had it all; the wealth, the amazing condo and engaged to the boxing Heavy Weight Champion of the World. But in reality all she had was loneliness. Until he showed up.
Yoel’s plan was bulletproof. Get in and get out, win the title. He did his homework but not well enough. He wasn’t prepared for her.
One night changes everything. One lie blurs the lines.
When the lust and smoke clears will everything just be a false illusion? Or will it be the biggest fight of all?

"What we had was a beautiful false illusion."
I must say I'm loving this cover! Secondly, I was so surprised by how much I liked this story! Madison is engaged to a heavyweight champion. On the outside, everything looks perfect, but nothing is as it seems. Madison is lonely, jaded and wanting more from her life. Yoel, is a trained heavyweight boxer with a plan! His plan involves Madison and of course winning, but will he succeed?
This was a nice debut by A. Cramton. It's a quick, sexy hot read. There is a bit of insta-love, but that is expected when reading novellas. Once I started into this story it was hard to stop! The characters gripped me and even though it was really fast paced, I still felt like I knew the characters. If you love fighter-romances then this is for you! I'm excited to see what else this author has up her sleeve!
Loved this fighter romance! I wasn't sure I would because I read reviews talking about cheating, but honestly, it was done tastefully and in a way where I was like, "oh. You go girl." Looking forward to book 2!
For a debut book, A. Cramton did an amazing job. I was not sure what to expect with this book. She definitely surprised me.
I enjoyed the story so much, Madison was funny and even tho I wanted to slap her at some point, I ended loving her. Yoel, *sighs* a sweet alpha-male. What I loved most were the songs that the author choose for every chapter, each one of them conveyed to the emotions in it.
False Illusions was a quick, sexy and funny reading. If you love alpha-male fighters this is your book.
I'll start off by setting the mood for this review: I disliked this book. I can't say I hated it because that would be too strong of a word, but it got to the point of me rethinking my decision to start this novel and wanting to never touch it again.
I sympathized with Madison in the first few chapters and I'm all for 'Girl Power' and what not, but when you resort to going behind someone's back and cheating on them (even if they're cheating on you) I'm not on your side. It would have been easier on everyone if she had just stood up for herself sooner instead of putting herself through the guilt and the secrecy.
I didn't really like Yoel from the start. He confessed to lying to her about how he didn't know her when, since the beginning, it was all planned out. The only kink in his plan was him falling in love and to that I say 'good riddance'.
The back and forth with a barely there plot finished sinking this novel in my opinion. I kept waiting for a big plot twist that never came and that by itself was disappointing enough. I also found Madison's best friend Chelsea weird because she would go behind Madison's back and report everything to Yoel. Last time I checked that's not a very good friend.
My Favorite Quotes:
"It was time to make me happy and stop trying to make everyone else happy."
"You're responsible for your own happiness. Anyone who wants you to live in misery for their happiness should not be in your life to begin with."
***ARC received for an honest review*** ****4.5 STARS*** When A. Cramton messaged me to read her debut book, False Illusions, I didn't know what to expect. The cover definitely caught my attention, since I really love fighter romances. Once I dived into the story, I couldn’t stop reading.
Madison is in a loveless engagement with the heavyweight champ, Marcus. She knows that he’s constantly cheating while she is stuck being the dutifully fiancé and obedient daughter. When Madison’s friend Chelsea suggests that she goes out and let loose, what see wasn’t expecting to meet was the sexy, flirty Yoel. Yoel is temptation. He is attentive to Madison needs, unlike Marcus. What was supposed to be one night stand between Madison and Yoel, turns out to be so much more. What Madison doesn’t know is that Yoel has an agenda, to sleep with her and get into Marcus’ head before their championship fight. What he didn't expect was falling for Madison.
For a debut book, A. Cramton did a fantastic job. I was intrigued with the relationship between Yoel and Madison and how the manipulation on Yoel part will come to play with their growing relationship. The story has its angsty moments, which wasn’t overdone. The chemistry between Madison and Yoel is pretty explosive. I love me a take charge, alpha male; who has a bit of sweetness to him and Yoel was all of that and more. What I loved most while reading the story was listening to the songs that each chapter was named after. I think it accurately conveyed each emotion or situation between Madison and Yoel.
I absolutely love this story and A. Cramton’s writing, and I look forward to reading more from her. GREAT DEBUT!
Great story! It was on the shorter side but never a dull moment. The writing seemed a bit unpolished at times but I really enjoyed the heck out of this book!!
Sexy fighter...check...sexy characters....check...sexy story...check...what more could you want? False Illusions is an amazing, quick read. I read this book in one sitting and I wouldn't have had it any other way. I devoured Yoel's and Madi's story! And I already want to read it again. Madison looks like she has it all but on the inside she's dying. She's so tired of being alone. Even though she's engaged to the heavy weight champion, lives in a nice place, you would think she had it all but she's far from it. Her fiancé Marcus is never home. All she wants to do is leave him but being forced with him by her parents only makes matters worse. Leaving Madi one lonely, unwanted fiancé. That is until she runs into one of her friends friends at a bar. And Yoel takes her by surprise. She instantly wants him. Madi can't remember the last time she felt this way or the last time a man paid attention to her like he does. He listens to her and hangs off her every word. Not to mention he can't stop staring at her. Yoel is training to become the new heavy weight champion and that's all he's ever wanted out of life. But now he needs...and wants Madison. He can't stop thinking about her. He finds himself lost in thoughts of her and he's never felt this way before. But when Madi finds out some life changing secrets will she let Yoel explain or will she ruin a real chance at love? I really enjoyed this book. From page one I was sucked it. Even when it was over, I instantly wanted more. Such a fun, sexy, read.
This is my first book to read by A. Cramton. I really enjoyed this quick paced, super fast read.
Forced to say yes to a marriage proposal, to a man she doesn't love... Boxing Champ who doesn't understand being engaged means to stop womanizing and come home each night to your fiancee.
Will the loneliness of being a woman who is engaged to a high profile boxer...draw her to other means of satisfying her needs?
Personally, I love a good sports or fighter romance, so I was pretty interested just from the blurb. The blurb really doesn’t do this story justice though.
I am going to try really hard not to give up any spoilers in my synopsis, so forgive me for being vague.
Madison’s father is a well-known sports promoter, so she’s lived as sort-of an heiress in the sports world. Money hasn’t ever been an issue, so most people would think of Madison as a spoiled rich girl, but there is so much more to her story than that. Her parents introduced her to Marcus, her fiancé and the current heavyweight boxing champion, when her father started promoting him. Her relationship with Marcus started fine, but it’s gotten worse and worse over the years. She’s allowed Marcus to treat her as a doormat and it’s affected the relationship she has with her parents. Her father promotes Marcus, so he doesn’t really get in the middle of it and her mother appears to be Team Marcus regardless of the number of times he’s been caught cheating on Madison. At this point, Marcus doesn’t even pretend to care. Madison doesn’t love Marcus, so she isn’t heartbroken. She is lonely, though, and she doesn’t feel like she has the support from her family to do anything about it.
Yoel, also known as El, is going to be fighting Marcus for their title in their upcoming fight. This is everything to El and he has a plan to help him during the fight. It’s pretty shady and his trainer tells him not to do it, but Yoel isn’t listening. The plan is in motion now, but he never expected Madison. He meets Madison while out at a club with a friend on a particularly rough night for Madison. The sparks are flying like crazy between her and Yoel. Madison throws caution to the wind and spends the night with Yoel planning to never see him again. Yoel has other plans for the beautiful woman that ran out on him, though.
Madison and Yoel end up having a no-string-attached affair. This is Madison’s way of getting back at Marcus and Yoel doesn’t “do” love and relationships. It seems pretty perfect as long as they don’t get personal. How often does that happen, though? They both realize (pretty quickly) that they have feelings for the other, but Madison is engaged and they have secrets that could tear them apart. When the truth comes out, they have to decide whether they have something real or an illusion.
My thoughts: I think you can tell I loved this story. I mean I LOVED it! I really wanted to have a big-sister talk with Madison at the beginning. She was such a doormat, but she progressed a lot by the end of the story. Yoel was interesting. He made some decisions before we really got to know him. Those weren’t really the best decisions and they don’t seem really typical of the guy we got to know by the end of the book. He really progressed over the course of the book too though. He was soooo cocky. I both loved and hated it and that’s something that never changed. Even though there are a ton of steamy sex scenes, this is not a BDSM novel. I always want to be clear with that as it is a big turn-off for me.
The book is written with dual POVs, which is a favorite of mine. The ending is interesting too (I’m not going to tell you what happens), but it just lets you know that the story isn’t all done. I mean I had an idea that something was going to happen, because there was this major element that just seemed to resolve itself with no drama. Of course, we can’t have that. I can’t wait to hear how that piece plays out.
Long story short, I couldn’t believe this was A. Cramton’s debut novel. It reads very fast, but make sure you allot a few hours to read it front to back, because you won’t want to put it down.
I really enjoyed this story and Yoel came across totally dreamy! - swoon! Once I got into this book I couldn't put it down. I will admit, I am not a fan, and I struggle to get into cheating storylines - whether it is deserved or not! But with false illusions I was rooting for Yoel and Madison. Yoel and Madison were clearly meant to be together, don't even get me started on what I think about Marcus! I loved how each new chapter had a song as the heading! I ended up with a lot of new songs and artists to take a listen to! I have a load of new screenshots of the chapter artists and songs I can't wait to check out! I found that all of A's characters were strong and unforgettable, even Marcus! - which pains me to admit. I guess you can tell by now that I wasn't his biggest fan. Madison is engaged and unhappy she is in a relationship that she doesn’t want to be in, she is just trying to keep her parents happy and off of her back! Finally fed up of sitting home alone whilst Marcus is out sleeping with the first female he sees, Madison decides to go on a night out with her best friend, Chelsea. Whilst out, she soon meets a handsome mysterious man, Yoel!Madison soon realises how strong her attraction to Yoel is, but the question is: will she do anything about it, or will she stay faithful to her unfaithful fiancé?!
Yoel, also known as "El" unbeknownst to Madison, had a plan. With an upcoming fight against heavyweight champ, Marcus, Yoel comes up with the plan to steal his opponents girl. But what he wasn't planning for, was to fall for his "baby doll" What will happen when Madison learns the truth?
I love everything about this book, from the knock knock jokes to the baby doll nickname. I found no faults and the storyline didn't lose my attention. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.
Also I would like to add that I liked how Madison's mother changed her attitude towards her daughters life choices and her love life.
Speechless.... WOW! This book was more than I expected. I am a total fan! I mean how can you not become a fan after reading this book.
Madison and Yoel become real quick your favorite couple. I loved Yoel all through the book. Yes some of the things he does or says are shady but you end up forgiving him. At least I know I did! I was a total fan of his. This sexy hot Hispanic boxer was oh so drool worthy! He was enough of a bad boy with a smudge of sweetness. I cheered him on through the whole book. Now Madison!!!!!! I'm not saying I didn't like her but God I wanted to punch her at certain parts of the story! Again I think it was because I was such a Yoel cheerleader. But back to Madison. I totally felt bad for her situation. Even tho I kinda blamed her for being weak. But she totally grows and realizes what she needs to do for herself!
Let's not forget about Marcus in this story! I know everyone probably thought he was an asshole. And maybe he totally was. But I seem to have a soft spot for him. His sexy ass is just misunderstood. I can't wait to find out what is really his deal.
Okay before I end this I have to say how much I hated Madison's mom. I hate her so much! I really wanted to scream and slap her and ask her wtf was her problem. I mean seriously lady you suck! If I have to point out what I didn't like from this whole story was her! Even when she tried to be nice I hated her!!!
All in all I'm so in love with this story!! Good job on first book debut! I can't wait to see what other amazing stories this author will give us!!!!
MMA romance novels are one of my favorites to read. So when I got offered a review copy for A. Cramton’s debut novel FALSE ILLUSIONS I jumped at the chance. Opening the book I saw song titles being the chapter headings and was smitten already. I always love connecting to a book, to its characters through music and I found myself listening to quite a few chapter’s songs while reading the respective chapter.
This was a quick and funny and sexy read, well-written and something different from the usual. It should definitely come with a warning though. As much as Madison’s partner is a douche and you can feel that both are stuck in a loveless relationship, I do not deal well with cheating and would have been thankful for a heads up.
Madison is engaged to Marcus, the current heavyweight champ. Marcus is constantly cheating on her, and she is aware of it, while she is still dutifully trying to play be the rules. That one time her friend convinces her to go out, she meet the handsome and flirty Yoel, who is giving her all the attention her lovely fiancé does not. Madison gives in to one night – and one night only. But sometimes one night just is not enough. The problem is Madison knows nothing about Yoel’s motives to pursue her in the first please – and when his deceit comes crashing down on him… well, let’s just say things are getting ugly.
This story has quite a manipulative element in it and some shocking twists I could not foresee. Yoel might have his fair share of flaws, but he is also all alpha male and sexy and sweet and just irresistibly hot.
If you are looking for another sexy MMA fighter romance, this is the book for you.
I absolutely loved this book! I made the awesome mistake of starting it during my lunch break, and I was not happy when lunch was over because it meant I had to stop reading and go back to work!
I just loved the characters, and more than that, I loved Yoel and Madison together. I love the chemistry they had, and when I was finished, I was really sad that I was finished, because I wanted to live in their world more. I understood why Madison stayed with Marcus, but I was so glad when she broke things off with him and went to New York to do her own thing. And her going to New York was even better once Yoel was involved! I just love them together, and how they gave each other space, but also seemed to support each other. They definitely had their ups and downs, but I loved that they worked it out.
Oh, Marcus! I wasn't a big fan of Marcus, but I also want to know what his deal is! And Madison's mom...even when she was being nice, I had a hard time liking her. I definitely got the impression Madison's happiness wasn't important to her at all, but I'm glad Madison did what was right for her! And that she and Yoel had such awesome friends (and that Yoel had a pretty cool family, from what I could tell).
My Rating: 5 stars. False Illusions really made me wish I read more contemporary romance. I think I might have to after reading it! The characters were amazing, and False Illusions was such a hard book to put down.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have to be honest I didn’t think I was going to be able to get through the book. I was so wrong!!! I actually really enjoyed this book. I have read some boxing and MMA romance books and really enjoyed them. False Illusions follow Madison and Yoel rise to the top. Top of life, top of career and most of top of love.
Madison is the daughter of one of the top promoter and engaged to the current heavy weight belt holder Marcus. Her life is not all that it is chalked up to be. Of course from the outside it looked like she is happy and in love with her long time boyfriend and fience Marcus. Guess again she spends most night alone and not even know whose bed he is in. Until one night she is just playing the part.
Yoel is not who think he is. Is he in advertising like he says he or something else. He had a plan and little does Madison knows she has been in his plans before they even met. Plans sometimes change with out you even knowing it.
This book was very hard to get into. I thought I was not going to be able to finish it. But then it got good. I did at time want to just shake these characters. The drama they would bring to each other was sometimes tiring. I really enjoyed the way Madison came into her own and grew. Yoel is such a sexy character and the way they just fit is amazing. Once they finally figured out there drama. This is a good book if you are wanting drama, and some sexy moments. I will be honest you will want to just say come on and want to give up but don’t stick with it.

False Illusions was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. There was tons of hot scenes which were amazingly written by the way. The secondary characters are even pretty awesome in this book. They are just as ornery and stubborn as Yoel and Madison.
Yoel is a boxer. A freakin steamy sexy as sin hunk of a man. Yeah... he's that dang hot. He is training for his match against the champ for the title belt. And he's amazing. He trains hard and bangs even harder. Woohoo. I love that maybe he got off on the wrong foot with certain people but he more than redeems himself. He's a heck of a fighter BUT he's a lover as well.
Madison is a sweetie but dang does she frustrate me. Instead of moving on and being happy she suffers through a horrible relationship for her parents benefit. I want to shake some sense into her. For real. When she finally does realize what's up its too late. The damage had been done.
This was a great quick read. I was completely invested in it from start to finish. It was something a little different and fresh. Yoel is probably one of my all time favorite book boyfriends now. Enjoy!
Omg I love Madison and Yoel!! They may have started out things on a false illusion but they finished strong and in love. Madison may have started out as a bit of a pushover but man, by the time this book was over she was a strong beautiful woman. Yoel, on the other hand, had different plans. He was determined to win this fight. He did his homework on his opponent including his girl.. He was gonna mess with his mind and use his girl to do it. He just didn't expect to fall for her. He tries everything he can to focus on the fight and not Madison. She has gotten into his head and heart. Things aren't exactly perfect for these two...they have wayyy to many ups and downs. Throughout these the love they feel for each other still remains. I really love the closeness of their families and how supportive their friends were. This was an incredible book. I mean you can't go wrong with a drop dead gorgeous, tattooed boxer in it.. Yoel is pretty hot and determined. In all honestly, I love both characters because they are willing to fight yet give space when needed in order to make their relationship work. Both were within reason patient as well.
**Received an ARC for an honest review** Holy amazing book batman! As soon as I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. It's a good thing I started after I put my daughter down for bed, because I then proceeded to not finish until 2 in the morning! And let me tell you it was so well worth it! I loved everything about this book & cannot wait for the next books with the characters I grew to love in this book. Maddison is an adorable knock knock joke telling book nerd & she was a completely relatable character. I grew to have so much respect for her. Yoel was a dreamboat and their chemistry was HOT. Honestly I think what I loved most was how unique the story was. Just when you thought you knew what was coming, it surprises you and I was pleasantly surprised! It was a fun & hot fighter read with swoon worthy, but also some sad moments. It was a woman learning to respect herself and what she deserved and honestly this crazy world could use more stories like this. Loved it A. Cramton! You're brilliant and can't wait to read more of your work!!
This story sucked me right in! What a pleasant surprise with this! Let me just say that the playlist for this book was EVERYTHING!! I loved how I could relate to the characters and the fact the Yoel was Dominican was even better I can just picture everything about him to the T. Madison I loved how she knew all the BS Marcus did and didn't fool herself into something else. I had a new respect for her by the end. I have to say I was sucked in I just had to know what happened next so I got no work done at work bc I started it while I was at work finished it in a day lol it was that good I'm so so excited to see what is coming in the next book sad it was kind of a cliffy but I'll be looking out for more books from this author!
I see Cramton doing some great things in the future. This story was a great start.
It was a bit choppy, but that did not make it less enjoyable. I'm not a reader who cares about format or errors if the content is good. What makes up for any flaws is without a doubt, the sweet, tough and hot Yoel.
You don't expect Yoel, a tough, badass boxer with a belt on his mind, to fall for icy, reserved Madison. I think by the end you truly felt Yoel had softened and Madison had warmed up. That's good writing.
Even with some flaws, it was enjoyable and the hot is mega hot, which I loved. The two are insatiable for each other and even when I kind of wanted to kill them for getting in their own way, I waited for them to figure things out.
Madison and Youl are two very strong characters and you fall in love with them quickly. Madison is in a horrible relationship and if she would just stand up to her parents in the tart of the book she would have had an open door to have the realationship she deserves. There are twist and turns but they have their happy ending well we hope.
I hate books that have cliffhangers and this one does. I didn't think there were more to this book but at the end she leaves us hanging. I hope I get to read book two soon.
5 knock knock Stars!!! A total page turner!!! A great story and I love boxers so that made this a whole lot better. Madison was awesome. She was trying to hold it together and I can relate! Loved when she made a move for herself. Was wishing for Marcus to get his s*** together at first but things went way too far. Can't wait to see what comes next. Now Noel; I mean come on of course you just gots to love him!
Pretty good. I'm not really a big fan of cheating stories, but it works in this instance since she was already being cheated on. I wasn't 100% sure that her sticking around with a cheater was believable but that was finally remedied so I can look past it. I thought the sex scenes were pretty hot, this book was also pretty funny at some points. I'll definitely read the next one! Gotta see where everyone ends up!

Let me start by saying that most of the time when I start in on a book and find that somebody’s cheating, I don’t go any farther. There is just too much of that going on in “real life”. That being said, this is a very good book. Yoel and Madison’s story was interesting and fun to read. I don’t want to say more because I don’t want to spoil it for someone. The writing is good. The characters are well written and by the end you will love Yoel and Madison. Very good book!
As soon as I picked up this book, I couldn't put it down. The characters were relatable and had good character development. The story painted a colorful picture in my mind and conveyed a realistic love situation that would have anyone fighting for his belt. I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to be submerged in a False Illusion.
Exceptional! I was hooked from beginning to end! Relatable characters, hot smut scenes, and a charming couple you could totally fall for. I read a lot of sexy romance books, but this was right up there with Remy and Brooke (and that is an original best for me). Loved it!
