ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Elena Paige originally developed the character Lolli to help her own children overcome their own issues around self esteem, sleeping, and friendships. Elena is also the voice of Lolli on the audio versions of the meditations. The meditations were developed to be fun, rather than what one may traditionally think of as meditation. PLEASE NOTE - This book was originally longer. It contained six meditations. However due to parent feedback, it is now smaller with three meditations. Lolli and the Thank You Tree is now the other half of what was originally this book.
Elena Paige is a children's and teen author with a background in counselling psychology. She loves creating stories which inspire and transform young readers - either through empowering them, entertaining them, or encouraging them to be more creative and imaginative.
Her books, while being filled with magic and wonder, have real life characters with real life issues - like fitting in, trusting yourself, dealing with inner conflict and more!
Her greatest value in life is CREATIVITY - nurturing it, enhancing it and using it! She loves encouraging children to believe in themselves and accept their own way of creating, even if it's outside the box. The most amazing creatives of our time rarely fitted in!
Her absolute favorite book as a child was "No Flying in the House." She always knew magic was real, but when all attempts to bring her favorite teddy to life failed, she adopted a dog instead. Her Moodle dog, named Lucky, is always by her side when she writes.
On Sunday mornings you can find her hiding under her bed covers reading, while her children are wondering where their favorite book has disappeared.
I had my doubts that meditation for kids would be attractive in any shape or form. How many little kids do you know who can sit still? How many adults. An sit still?
THIS book is DIFFERENT..... and I can see how it works. If I had a 4 or 5 year old at home ... I would definitely read this book with them. It has adventure-- which CALMS.... and ENGAGES the child's imagination. The illustrations are attractive and happy. The instructions to follow are easy...... and a little laughter with bedtime calming works nice together.
"Close your eyes and take a deep breath, right into your belly button. Relax. Bring a big smile to your face. Keep your eyes close can't imagine your heart shining out to the world, like it's a big bright sun. Keep breathing into your belly button and let your heart shine".
Lolli takes kids on a guided adventure from "The Land of Color"......
She has a very cute story about "The Poka Dot Undies"
Lollipops--yummy flavors .... Fun creating and designing a house... Bright colored kites... Rainbow Rides.... Rest and sleep...
Lolli is adorable and will be a child's loving friend!!!
This ebook kids and myself loved reading this book but can't seem to find it in any library so hopefully this review will help get it out there. A truly insightful book to help kids learn to wind down. My thanks to the author Elena Paige for the delightful pleasure of reading her wonderful book. This book I would be so delighted to recommend this book to all my friends & for people with high-spirited kids of all ages so to all happy reading from wee me. xx♥
I have been doing these with our four year old son and we both absolutely love this fun but calm time together :-) It's even better when you can hear them and do them together :-) It's a really good age to do these adventures as our son loves using his imagination and stories so hopefully getting him introduced to concepts before they're a problem can help prepare the way for later.
This set includes 1) Lolli and the Lollipop which introduces the Land of Colour and standing under the lollipop to wash away worry, sadness, frustration or anger so that you can go and find your crystal, 2) Lolli and the polka dot undies takes you to the Land of Silly where you can have a good laugh together plus the Throw the egg at the donkey game where you can throw eggs to help get rid of negative feelings, 3) Lolli and the New House where you build your own house with a safe place when you need it.
An interesting book that teaches children how to use meditation to relax. In this first book, Lolli transports her readers to the Land of Color in three separate stories. These stories can be used as bedtime stories or as a teaching guide to meditation for kids. In the first story, Lolli introduces herself; she brings her readers to a crystal cave where they discover a shiny magic gem. Children who are sad, confused or lonely can find solace in the “land of polka dot undies.” Lolli guides her readers back to her own house in the land of color in the final story, which allows children to create in their minds their unique vision of a comfortable home. The illustrations enhance a child's ability to imagine the setting.
The author targets the audience as ages four through eleven. Some younger children may succeed, but I believe most children in the eight to eleven age range will be more successful with this approach. Parents and teachers could use this book at bedtime or as a group meditation tool.
