Lady Miranda Crandle goes to help her friend’s daughter gain a little polish before she goes off for her first season, and discovers the only man she ever loved—the man she jilted years ago—is visiting as well, with an eye to proposing to the daughter. They get caught up in old pain, but he’s determined to avoid the madness of passion that nearly destroyed him when he lost Miranda the first time. Lots of complications, but a good story.
