Michael Elliott is stirred from deep sleep by an early-morning dream—a beautiful woman leads him to the Pacific Ocean and whispers that the ocean will help him discover his true destiny. When Michael is then invited to Peru, he wonders if this is the path to that destiny.

The journey of a lifetime, the energy of the majestic Pacific Ocean, a priceless philosophy for success and happiness, the sacrifice of a soul mate from Chicago, and the support of a special mate from India combine to make Michael the preeminent relationship coach for young people. Once he reaches that pinnacle, he is confronted with the most difficult choice he has ever made: in the pursuit of excellence, does sacrifice matter more than support; or without support, does no sacrifice count?

Can Michael resolve this life-changing dilemma, discover his true destiny, and finally become The Suitable Inheritor?

I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book very much. It was insightful about relationships and almost spiritual. The character of Michael is well developed and believable. The book is a personal journey. The philosophy in the book is very important, it is almost a self help book, with much deeper meaning than you would first expect - you really need to read it to understand and appreciate - everything in the book happens for a reason.

The Suitable Inheritor is an inspiring journey of Michael as he transforms from mundane to magnificent. He meets three people who mentor, support and help him bring harmony and deeper meaning to his personal and professional life. Set in Chicago and Lima, the book is a fascinating saga of exceptional success, true love, profound relationships, divine intervention, sacrifice, happiness, and peace.

Every page has something profound to offer. Some of the passages are so powerful that I had to put the book down, walk away, and let it sink in. I had to absorb each word and figure out how to apply it to my own life. I re-read paragraphs, wrote a few of them in my notebook and tried to commit the wisdom shared to memory. Yes, it is that compelling and hard-hitting.

Some of the life lessons shared in the book that will stay with me are…

Key to success and happiness : Pursue your passion, work with your intuition, learn as a child and adapt as water.
My competition is only with myself and my goals, not with the sung or unsung heroes. And that’s the cardinal principle of happiness and strong relationships.
Strategy and the game of chess are analogous. Don't make your first move till you have visualized your last move.
‘He who conquers the wandering mind can rule the world.’ An important aspect of successful relationship management is to listen to another person with the mind, body and spirit all focused on that person, so that the mind doesn't feel the need to wander.
The journey from good to great lies in destroying what you zealously created by surpassing your previous creation time and again, and yet retaining the disposition of a novice.
I believe, ‘Test your beloved’ concept is something that must be practiced by one and all. I would like to apply it with friends and associates though. Because more often than not when adversity strikes, the closest betray while the farthest save the day.

What I liked the most about The Suitable Inheritor is that all these thought provoking life lessons are packed in a story format that is engaging and at no point of time it sounded preachy. The pearls of wisdom shared are practical yet profound with its knowledge and interpretations. Reading The Suitable Inheritor has been like having a conversation with a calm, patient and understanding friend. The book is also a great example of impeccable language which is a treat for the readers.

If you're looking for a spark of inspiration, some wisdom to improve your personal or professional life, or maybe just a little advice to improve your happiness, you must pick up The Suitable Inheritor. Invest a couple of hours in this book, and you may find some unique perspective. GO READ IT! Short and sweet and totally worth it.

The Suitable Inheritor by Pushpendra Mehta explores on an age-old dilemma of 'work for money vs. work for passion' in a fascinating story. Michael Elliott is a relationship coach who lives in Chicago. On receiving an invitation to Lima to speak to the younger clients of Andrew Smith, the owner of a relationship-coaching enterprise, Michael grabs this opportunity in the hope of learning something. He is suspicious of Andrew's hidden agenda behind inviting him; however, he decides that he has nothing to lose, and he might learn from Andrew new strategies of the business. The meeting turns out a stepping stone for the career and life of Michael. Andrew shares many pearls of wisdom and credits his dear friend and an ex-employee, Dorothy, for all his knowledge. The more Andrew talks about Dorothy, the more mesmerized Michael becomes with her. Since Dorothy is no longer in touch with Andrew, Michael decides that he will put all his energy to find her. Could this be his true love's calling or something even bigger than that? But what could be bigger than true love? During the time, Michael is busy contemplating the nature of his connection with Dorothy, his life is gradually taking a new turn for good.

How many of us really love the work that we do? In my personal experience, the statistics do not look good. We kick ourselves each morning while going to the office and then whine throughout the day in the office. Our motivation of tolerating such a life is to survive. When we don't love something that we do, how can we be truly happy and fulfilled? The equation is not that simple when some of us don't even know what our dream is. The author presents the resolution to this problem in beautiful words,
'What is that one profession, vocation, or occupation I would pursue if I did not have to work for money?' That is the key to finding out what you are truly passionate about.

I truly admired the simplicity, yet cleverness, of these words. There  is nothing better than working for something that you love. If you are waking up every morning to bathe in the pool of your passion, then this does not seem work to me. Walking down the road of your dreams, you would only be concerned about outdoing your own creation every single day. This does not seem like a job to me; in fact, this is definitely a life worth chasing. In the words of Dorothy in the book,
If you are immersed in what you truly love, an activity you have longed to excel at, a pursuit that will get you closer to prominence, and an endeavor that doesn't feel like work, you'll find happiness.

This thought resonates with the truly awesome lesson of a Bollywood movie, 3 Idiots. As much as I enjoyed watching this movie, I loved reading this book even more. This is a powerful lesson, but our inherent desire to outdo others is stronger than finding our own happiness. This is one of the many reasons that many people quit their dreams. When you see your friend -- or an acquaintance for that matter -- living a lavish life, the green-eyed monster wakes up and shakes you until you realize that you need that luxurious life. Giving up on a dream to prove something to others can never work in your favor. Like Andrew says,
Unlike most people, my competition is only with myself and my goals, not with the sung or unsung heroes.

Just when I thought, the book would turn out to be a self-help one with many life lessons, the author shifted the direction to weaving a fiction. Although precious and practical lessons remained the central theme of the plot, the style of addressing these in the form of a story is quite refreshing. In the narrative style of writing, Pushpendra Mehta has managed to touch many aspects of the life. If you think you love more than one person from the bottom of your heart, whom do you pick? How do you become the best in each relationship? Answers to these questions are very smartly and gracefully addressed by the author. Although the book is packed with many amazing lessons, the one that resonates with my own personality is,
'Live as if today is the last day on this planet and remember to wear this on your sleeve each day. You will then become the best friend, the favorite supervisor, the unrivaled sweetheart, the wisest adviser, and the greatest listener.'

Michael's transition from an ordinary man to reaching his full potential has been an enticing journey that I loved to read about. As a reader, I was hooked to the story from beginning to the end. Learning something while reading an interesting story is something that I always look forward to. His inner voice answering the whereabouts of Dorothy, however, seemed too vague to me. Of course, this is an observation of a skeptic critic and not everybody may agree with it.

I would recommend this book to the readers who enjoy reading a fiction with a good story and significant life lessons.

Sometimes the question is not that how beautiful is the story but how beautifully it has been written. Pushpendra Mehta, in his magical book The Suitable Inheritor has magically portrayed the power of words that grips the reader from start till the end.

Book Cover is the first thing about the book that will take away your breath. I was surprised to see that the book cover was actually a very important scene from the book itself. The man standing near the shores, above a stone seems magical when read within the book. These kind of things are pretty rare in today's writing.

Coming to the story. Story starts with a dream and from that moment only, it grips on your spine. You can try but can't put this one down. The language of the book is having it's own beauty. Writing style of the author is fabulous. Short dialogues with meaning punches in something that is rare to see within current Indian Writing scenario.

Story travels at many places but answers to the questions of protagonist actually lies in divine lands of India. The journey of Michael Elliott is surely a treat to treat.

While reading the book, you'll surely be lost in the storyline and hopefully will find some of the crucial answers of your own journey. This book holds the magic to travel through your mind and enlighten your thoughts. I would surely recommend this book to my fellow readers. Everyone who loves to read, should read this book.

Relationship coach was somethinv that I had never heard about until I read this book. The Suitable Inheritor - the title is as intriguing as the blurb of the book. The blurb appeared to me as a mystery and I needed to reveal it very soon. There's one bad thing about being a book lover. You cannot leave reading the book without finishing it. I too couldn't put this book down. But due to other engagements, I had to do it.
The story is one of the kind. It gives you relationship lessons. The narration has been done in first person narrative and has been done exceptionally well. The book is rich in vocabulary. For a person who loves learning new words, this book will be a treat. The lucid narration is strengthened by thoughtful dialogues of the characters. Michael is the protagonist who plays the relationship coach. Andrew, Dorothy and Meher play significant roles in this story. Both the leading ladies are women of substance and have a charisma which will attract you to them. The pace of the story is steady. The author has woven this story with dedication and patience. Events aren't rushed and therefore, reading experience is a smooth sail.
The author mentioned to me that his readers were asking him about the sequel. After reading this book, I too have a similar question for him.
Some books leave a mark on your hearts. They stay with you. 'The Suitable Inheritor' is one such book.
I rate:
Cover: 3.5/5
Characters: 4/5
Story: 4.5/5
I rate 'The Suitable Inheritor' with 4.5/5 stars.

'The Suitable Inheritor' by Pushpendra Mehta is one of the best book i read in 2016. Author has amazing ability of holding readers in one position hooked till the end. I loved the philosophy in the book. Book teaches readers some of the best life lessons in the best way possible.

Book Title suits the content in the book. Book cover is beautiful. Man at the edge of ocean portrays one of important scene mentioned in the book. Blurb is okay and could be improved to increase curiosity.

Language used in the book is simple yet inviting. Author has great narrating skills. With decent narration and lucid language it was impossible to put the book without reading cover to cover. Dialogs are short and crispy and makes story interesting.

I loved the storyline and plot of the book. Scenes are described with utmost care and helps readers to visualize scenes from the book in subconscious mind. One liners and philosophy in the book is cherry on the top. This is the prime reason i read the book in one go. Character building was strong. Effect of characters on protagonist's life was written amazingly.

Overall The Suitable Inheritor is one of the flawless, thought provoking and pure interesting book. Go for it, you'll not regret this one.

What a romantic book is The Suitable Inheritor written by Pushpendra Mehta. I love everything of this book. From the softcover to the paper. This book cuddle, seriously cuddle the reader. And the cover is also emblematic with this lonely man lost looking at the immensity of the Pacific Ocean. Some birds are flying away and a key is waiting to open something...A door, a heart. Which is the key of happiness for each of us?

It was an age I didn't read, written by a man a so romantic book like this one is!
But The Suitable Inheritor is more than this.

Before to telling to you something more of this book, the story of this review must be told.

I haven't met Pushpendra Mehta thanks to Netgalley or Booksgosocial but this time through Goodreads. It was an age I didn't visit the site and I tried the giveaways. I joined various giveaways that warm summer day of July. Later I received an e-mail from Pushpendra. He said me: "You joined my giveaway. Maybe you will win a copy of my book, but in opposite case I want to send you anyway a copy of my book so that you can read it."

According to you did I win a copy of the book? In fact, the answer is correct: no, but Pushpendra maintained the promise, sent me a copy through Amazon and here I am.

I thank him immensely for this gift because he wrote a real jewel of beauty, love, friendship, good relationships, peace, understanding.

The book is very profound and it touches the most important nerves of our society little or big that it is: love and our most profound connections, physical and emotive ones with other people.

Who is Mike the main protagonist of this story? A relationship coach. One day, Andrew, the biggest one of this field living in Peru, asks to meet him to Lima, the capital. Mike lives in Chicago, USA.

"Why me?" asks to himself Mike.

And not because he doesn't have sufficient self-esteem but because substantially Andrew surely is in contact with this world and the other in the environment.

The meeting with Andrew is more a confession of his own life-story than a business talk after all.

Andrew confessed he was bewitched in a good sense by a wonderful lady called Dorothy and thanks to her he opened a magazine and became a great name in various fields becoming with the time the biggest relationship coach existing on the Planet. Dorothy his main inspiration.

"Pursue your passion, work with your intuition learn as a child and adapt as water" told once Dorothy to Andrew the first time she met him.

Mike fell in love for this woman while Andrew was speaking and when the final last message and meaning of this encounter clarified, Mike once returned to his hotel thought: "Lord, I must try to reach her."

But how?

Andrew had cut all bridges with her, because Dorothy once wanted to break with him any kind of collaboration and now Andrew didn't know where she lives. Dorothy not a lady who would have put posters in every corner of the streets.

But Mike is able to find her, and to spend with her a passionate night and to ask her to become his woman.

Dorothy can't, because her aura would have obscured the climbing for the final success of Mike and declines, going away. Mike is desperate, he cries, he is devastated, but later, at least he understands that this sacrifice is for a good cause.

He tells that he is in love for Dorothy to Andrew and he receives his blessing as well.

Once back to the USA, thanks to a lady called Meher of a publishing house, he become the first and most important relationship coach for young people as well.

And do you know the title of the most successful book? The Suitable Inheritor! It was like to read a book in another...book. A strange and magical sensation.

Success is great. This man so romantic, so compassionate, plenty of good heart, spiritual, in love with pleasures of life, discovers that anyway every night he is alone once he return home.

It's time for a promise...It's time to maintain that promise to Dorothy. It's time to search again for Dorothy and to become a real couple not just a dream.

During these years the relationship with Meher in the while become intense.
He loves her and she loves him. They love each other but they respect their feelings, because Meher knows that Dorothy is the woman chosen by Mike for spending the rest of his existence with.

A promise he did when he met her in Lima, Peru.

He is a romantic man and a man able to wait.

A suffering good-bye the one between Meher and Mike. Meher told him: "You wouldn't want to see me with another man if I would choose another man and vice versa." She can't work anymore for him and she wants to leave him. The sufferance of seeing him close to another woman, although absolutely exceptional is too much.

She prefers to return to India but who knows if Karma and USA again in her destiny?

Dorothy will find again a way. Dorothy will open another time the heart of Mike dissipating any kind of doubts and let him reach at least his total, wonderful happiness.

This book is a treasure, because it's not just a physical trip but a mental trip. An intimate trip and a trip I would add of various souls strongly connected forever.
And it is a great book for whoever want to learn more about relationships.
For once Love returns to be the main and important voice of a book, in a tender, exclusive, beautiful way.
What a magical romanticism.

Love exists, real love exists and this book wants to teach us that we mustn't lose the opportunity of experience happiness when we can.

I absolutely suggest this book to everyone.

This is an interesting book. It reads less like a novel and more like a motivational guide to deeper relationships, true serenity, personal success and more. The story itself didn't really move me but the messages that were conveyed gave me lots to think about and, perhaps, incorporate into my own life.

I received the book in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, so finally the time has arrived when I will be jotting down my very own, personal views about one of the most discussed books selling in the market. Looking cool in critic's specs, I must say I enjoyed it. A must read inspirational story with flickers of white philosophy, love and self-confidence. Psychologically, I felt I was getting submerged into the ocean of someone's straight-forwardness. The story starts slow, with a mild tune of peace and disturbance, coherently building in Michael Elliott's mind. Later, I was amazed to see how easily the pain could be turned to a majestic realisation. The story further explores a relationship between the past and the present, the old and the new and the two true soulmates who had lost their tracks due to lady luck's sudden disgrace. Each word is rightfully chosen to justify the real-time occurrences. Plus, the reader will understand how the writer maintained the link between events.

Now, one thing I need to mention about the story is that there's no way you miss the opportunity to comprehend author's deepest understanding of relationships. Many times, I started to imagine how the author must have thought to put the gently-weaved love-o-logy in exact proportions that one would expect it to be. Proper salt, sugar and expression have led the solution to turn into a magic. Small things, this is not at all a book which will make one go haywire in love. No,Not at all a typical love story. But yeah, it has the OMG factor to reciprocate the true bonding. Conventional Boy-Girl element is missing, rather a matured mind will push one's philosophies aside and let one explore his life once again.

Saluting the author's knowledge about the primary topic - "relationship" (business-personal), I would only recommend one to read the book to rediscover your own-self. At the end, Michael accepts his destiny and justifies the title. However, the important part is not the end of the story rather how it reached the conclusion. Waiting for the next piece!

Cheers!

Pushpendra Mehta kindly sent me a copy of his debut novel, The Suitable Inheritor and asked me to review the book. I like and respect Pushpendra and am always a little wary about reviewing a book in these circumstances. I am always honest, even if the author is a friend or acquaintance. This sometimes causes problems!

The author was brought up in India but now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. He is an alumnus of Northwestern University, a private research university based in Evanston, Illinois, with campuses in Chicago, Illinois, San Francisco, California and Doha, Qatar. He has also studied at Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and has wrtten some well received academic books, The Suitable Inheritor is his first novel.

The Suitable Inheritor is a book of two halves. In the first half, it tells the story of Michael Elliott who travels from his home in Chicago, Illinois, USA to Lima in Peru to meet with the pre-eminent life-style guru. The guru is terminably ill and explains that he needs someone to take over his firm. As Michael learns more about the business he also becomes aware of the importance a beautiful woman named Dorothy had in the development of the.

In the second half of the book the reader learns that not only is Michael a suitable inheritor to the business but also that Dorothy has an inheritor to the influence she had over the business. The passion and romance in the second half of the book makes for a fast-paced ending to the story.

Although The Suitable Inheritor is somewhat one dimensional, in that there is little character development nor any variation in the speech patterns of the various characters. However, writing a novel is about telling a story and the story did engage me. I kept turnng the pages wanting to know what happened next to the characters and between Dorothy and Michael.

I enjoyed The Suitable Inheritor and would read another novel by Pushpendra Mehta.

Wow! What a read!
Thanks a lot to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Suitable Inheritor is a gripping story about Michael who is a relationship consultant. It had been months since I have read some philosophical book until I read this book. What a brilliant saga of love, relationships, sacrifice and other humanity values. Every incident had a deep meaning if read with insight.
It was very unique. I loved the way author progresses the story. I wasn't bored for a single moment. It taught me that to rely on destiny is nothing but only an age old concept to sit and waste your time. We must come out of our comfortable zone and work hard. The Book title as well as the cover were in accordance with the plot of the story.
It reminded me of The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Strongly recommend it to the ones who wanna take out time and take a divine journey to discover our true self!

As soon as I started this book I felt content, calm, happy - it let me forget all the worries I had.
And I can't even explain why and how - maybe it's Pushpendra Mehta's way of writing, beautiful words, beautiful sentences and no negativity.

I enjoyed it so much and seeing what became of Mike was a great journey, to see his transition.

The only thing or person I didn't really like (that's why only 4 stars) was Dorothy.. A lot of people will probably be outraged by this as Dorothy IS a big part in Mikes story and without her he wouldn't be here where he is now BUT for me it just wasn't believable that he "fell" in love completely with her after some days and from there on it was only dorothy here dorothy there.

Maybe I'm not romantic enough but in the end I was quite annoyed by the name Dorothy.

Despite her, it was a great read :)

I have just finished reading 'The Suitable Inheritor'.I think this book is awesome .Many Thanks to the author for sending me free kindle copy of this book . I generally prefer books which are simply romantic or which contains suspense or thrill. But this book was different, more of a mature substance. This book gives you insights about relationships and love in a very different way.I really liked the way author has chosen ornamental words throughout the novel. The novel goes around characters Michael,Andrew,Dorothy and Meher. The author has wrapped up relationship understanding around a pleasurable story. I have read something like this for the first time and to be honest this book is intellectually beautiful and interesting. I am really excited to read more books of you.Keep writing more of such literature arts!!! :)

“The Suitable Inheritor” by Pushpendra Mehta deals with the dilemmas faced by Michael Elliot. The story starts off in Chicago and quickly moves to Peru where he meets Andrew who plays an important role in his life journey.

As one is reading the book, there seems to be the essence of a self- help book woven into the story. This makes sense as Mehta has written some nonfiction books including "Win the Battles of Life & Relationships" and "Tomorrow's Young Achievers".
Overall, the story keeps the reader engaged and uses the characters to illustrate some thought provoking life lessons.

Thank you GoodReads for the book.
