Tout au long de son évolution architecturale et stylistique, le jardin n’a cessé de refléter une vision du monde en s’approchant d’un idéal de vie. À l’origine espace enclos, le jardin change d’échelle au xxe siècle, mû par la conscience d’une finitude écologique : il devientplanétaire.Pour préserver cet espace soumis aux lois du marché et de la croissance à tout prix, le jardinier doit se mettre à l’écoute du génie naturel : imaginer, réaliser et entretenir le jardin dans son aspect dynamique, en respectant le développement des espèces et leurs migrations.

Gilles Clément is a French gardener, garden designer, botanist, entomologist and writer. He has gained attention for his design of public parks in France, such as Parc André-Citroën. In 1998, he was the recipient of France's National Landscape Prize.

He is not to be confused with the space biologist Dr. Gilles Clément.

Concludendo la lettura di questo libro, mi rimane un senso di profonda calma e speranza, come dopo una lunga passeggiata in un bosco. Non è un manuale di giardinaggio, ma un vero e proprio manifesto poetico che ha il potere di cambiare il modo in cui guardiamo il mondo. Gilles Clément ci invita a un'avventura intellettuale che, partendo dal giardino, arriva a ridefinire il nostro posto nell'universo.
La parte che mi ha toccato di più è l'idea che la natura abbia un suo "genio", una sua intelligenza segreta. Il giardiniere non deve imporre le sue regole, ma umilmente ascoltare e dialogare con questo ~genio naturale~. L'immagine del seme che trattiene il tempo per anni, o addirittura secoli, aspettando il "momento giusto" per germogliare, è una lezione di pazienza e saggezza che la nostra società iperconnessa e sempre di fretta ha dimenticato. Ci ricorda che non tutto deve essere veloce o produttivo per avere un valore.
Il cuore di questo libro è il concetto che il vero capolavoro non è l'opera finita e perfetta, ma il processo stesso. L'artista non è più un creatore onnipotente, ma un umile "accompagnatore del tempo", che interviene solo sui "limiti" per valorizzare ciò che già esiste. E se il giardino è un "territorio mentale della speranza", allora l'arte del giardinaggio è un atto di fede nel futuro.
"Giardini, paesaggio e genio naturale" è un libro che ti fa fermare, ti fa guardare le cose da un'altra prospettiva, "ad altezza d'erba". Ti insegna a dare un nome a ciò che ti circonda, perché ciò che ha un nome, "allora esisterà". È un invito a riscoprire la magia del mondo, a credere nel potere della lentezza e a trovare il nostro posto non come dominatori, ma come custodi di un "giardino planetario" che è allo stesso tempo il più fragile e il più resiliente di tutti.

in der vorlesung "jardins, paysage et génie naturel" entwirft gilles clément keine gartenlehre, eher eine politisch-ökologische ästhetik der prozesse: garten als labor ko-evolutionärer dynamiken, gestaltung als ermöglichung von selbstorganisation. der begriff des „génie naturel“ löst das klassische genius loci auf und verteilt agency auf samenbanken, wind, mikroorganismen. es ist anschlussfähig an posthumane akteur-netzwerke. zugleich plädiert clément für ein anti-extraktives gestaltungsregime: pflege statt produktion, fragment statt entwurf, brachzone als epistemischer überfluss. diese ökopoetische vision erzeugt ein anderes bild von ordnung: nicht formfixierung, eher strukturiertes offenhalten. problematisch bleibt die planetarische metapher, da sie machtasymmetrien und koloniale herkünfte zu glätten droht. insgesamt fordert der text ein denken landschaftlicher zeitlichkeiten – als arbeit am lebendigen, nicht als vollendung.

Einer Empfehlung das Buch zu lesen nachkommend, schätze ich mich zufrieden, die Knappen 60 Seiten gelesen zu haben.
In verträumten Sätzen zieht der Autor den Vergleich zwischen Garten und dem Planet Erde. Mit jeder Seite nimmt der Anteil an Philosophie zu und erfasst dabei grundlegende kritische Gebiete unserer heutigen Gesellschaft wie das der stetigen Expansion.
Kurz und knackig und deswegen auch empfehlenswert.
