A silent call for help began the friendship between two children. A bond unlike any other kept them together.
Finn was just a kid when he first heard Snow’s voice inside his head, two children in need of a friend and finding one in mysterious strangers. Never meeting in person, the pair grows up as opposites – Finn the boy who loves to get in trouble and works for the toughest drug lord in town, Snow the good, sheltered girl who wants to be a doctor.
The bond built upon a strange ability to hear each other’s thoughts is threatened when Snow is abducted, her screams for help consuming Finn’s mind until they disappear completely, submerging him in a terrifying silence he’s never known before. Now it’s up to Finn to save her, led only by Snow’s sporadic thoughts as she floats in and out of consciousness.
But the search for Snow leads him to a truth he isn’t prepared to face, a truth that has the power to unravel his entire world. The people he thought he knew, the life he thought he’d made, the best friend he thought he could protect – all point toward a brutal reality should he fail.
And as Finn struggles to find Snow before she slips away, he must fight to keep that reality out, lest he let the chaos in.

Psychological thrillers are ALL the rage these days and in this book, I found another 5 star contender.
The synopsis gives you a good sense of the book. There isn't anything more that can be added without giving the essence of the book away.
What I can say is that I was riveted. That Snow and Finn developed an unusual psychic connection out of nowhere and having never met each other was of particular interest to me.
If you dislike this kind of element and dismiss it as magical realism, I recommend you don't pass on this book. If it otherwise is appealing and you like a good psych thriller, I believe odds are good you'll be glad you did.
Thank you to the publisher for the free copy of this book in exchange for this honest review.
From the very first page, this book latched on to me, and didn't let go until the last beautiful and heartbreaking sentence. The idea that fate brought together two kids who needed a friend is hard to resist.
Though I mentally scolded Finn throughout for not trying harder to escape his miserable life, and to let go of his pride to accept help, knowing I sounded as motherly as Snow, I was still connected to him. I ached to reach through the pages and save him myself because Finn simply wanted a world where he was strong enough to fight back. I admit I cried a couple of times throughout this book.
Finn was mean where Snow was sweet, tough where she was soft. They were complete opposites, yet they needed each other desperately, and their friendship grew to a point where Finn felt lost and empty without feeling her in his head. Destiny, through their connection, had given him a gift to hear her thoughts and feel all her wonderful emotions. I kept hoping that she would open up to him, to let him get to know who she really was so that they could one day meet in person.
Circelli takes us on an emotional roller coaster with twists and turns that I never expected. This is an extremely well written book. Some... no, many books are forgettable; however, I can honestly say that this story will stay with me for a very long time. Like Finn's city, this book is beautiful, melancholy, and astounding all at once. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with a heart.

Wow. That's all I can say. This book blew me away, and its not the only book that Kristina Circelli has written that has done this. She is an amazing author that has created books that have stayed with me. I knew when I heard she had come out with another book, I definitely needed to read it. But even if it wasn't by her, the synopsis of the book would have drawn me in. I love the idea of two children being able to connect telepathically. Would it be a sci-fi book? A psychological thriller? A fantasy book?
From the very beginning, I was pulled into the story of these two children, one boy named Finn in the darker, seedier side of life, and the innocent well-to-do girl, Snow. As the book continued and the book followed their lives, my heart broke for Finn and the life that he doesn't seem to have much control over. I kept hoping that the growing connection between the two children would start to show Finn that people can be better, he can be better.
And then heartbreak happens as Snow is kidnapped and I was pulled along helplessly as Finn desperately searched for her and time started to run down. But wait....oh no....
The plot twist happens and all I can say is that my head spun. I sat there after finishing the book and couldn't get it out of my head of a good week after I finished the last page. Now I want to read it again just to see if there were clues somewhere, anywhere that pointed towards that end.
Finn and Snow could speak to each other telepathically. Both of them went through hard times in their lives, and telepathy allowed them to connect in a way no one else could. They were an unlikely pair of friends considering they lead very different lives.
Their friendship worked. It was much easier to understand their connection since the story alternated between both of their POV. They were both lonely and depended on each other. Finn’s life was much more difficult since he was severely neglected as a child. One day Snow was kidnapped. Finn was the only one with any hope of finding her. Tracking her down wasn’t easy since he had no idea where she had lived.
The ending was completely unexpected. There weren’t any clues I can think of that would have lead me to think it would end the way it did. Although the ending was surprising somehow it fell flat. I hadn’t really expected such a solid explanation for everything. It twisted the whole story into something different. I didn’t completely love the ending, but it was definitely worth reading. The writing was great, and I would definitely read something else by this author.

At first, the novel seems to have all the characteristics of a paranormal story. The protagonists are two children, who gradually grow up to become young adults, that live far apart, have never met and have no way of doing so. Nonetheless, they talk to each other in their heads, especially in stressful situations. She is the adopted daughter of the perfect family, he is the son of a drug addict, and, while still a teenager, he joins a criminal gang. Then, one day, through their special mental connection, he hears his friend's desperate cry for help, as she has been kidnapped... then he hears nothing more. The silence of the mind, which he experiences for the first time in his life, is devastating. And here the novel changes, because the paranormal gives way to a complex psychological plot that deals with loss, childhood trauma and how a young mind tries to cope with this and to heal itself in some way. There are a few too many complications, especially in the second half, but apart from that, this is a truly unusual and surprising novel.
I haven't been this impressed by a story in quite some time. I was looking for a different kind of read, because I had gotten myself into a kind of rut in genres. The blurb was captivating. The ability for the two children to communicate in their heads initially made me think of the original Escape to Witch Mountain. (Yes, I know, Tony wasn't able to talk back to Tia in his head, but the general concept is similar.)
Just as the blurb was captivating, so was the story from the beginning. That initial moment when the two connect telepathically sparked a strong desire to understand how and why this was happening. Knowing that their connection was partially due to their horrid circumstances just tugged at my heartstrings. I wanted to do something to help these children, to protect them from their worlds. But they are only meant to have each other.
As their story went on and they grew older, I found myself starting to wonder what it would be like to have someone almost on speed dial in my head. An instant helper and cheerleader for anything life threw at me. I loved that they had that in each other. I also loved how Snow worked so hard at being good all the time and managed to keep Finn somewhat in check. I loved how Finn kept doing what he was going to do in his "bad ass life," and yet Snow's voice was like a Jiminy Cricket conscious in his head, preventing him from going all out. The two are total opposites, and yet still have so much in common and need each other. It's a beautiful thing that we could all use in our lives. They are so fortunate to have found each other, and in this way.
Snow's abduction made me hurt. This intense connection of theirs is put to the test. And how do you explain it to those around you? When I hit this point in the novel, it was getting pretty late and I really needed to go to bed. I knew I would regret it in the morning if I didn't. But I couldn't put it down. I needed to know if Finn could find her. I needed to know what was going to happen if and when they finally met in person. And I'd read in other reviews that there was a great twist at the end. So, of course I needed to find out what that was. The whole time I was reading, my head was coming up with every possible scenario I could think of.
I plowed through to the end. And then that twist came. I was so confused at first and felt like I had missed something. I had to slow way down when reading, to make sure that I got all of the information and could process it. I went back through the story in my mind, to see if I had been given some clues to the twist. Perhaps they are there, but they are very well hidden, which I love in a book like this. I almost want to go back and reread it, knowing what I know now. I think the book the second time through would be a very different read.
So, all in all, I loved this book. It was refreshing to read something a little different in this saturated book market. I felt a lot of different emotions while going through it, which is always a good thing. I may have had a tear or two escape. I love this kind of reading experience. I also want to now check out some of Kristina's other books, to see how captivating they are for me, as well.

Pub Date 19 May 2016 I was given a copy of The Silent Sounds of Chaos through the publisher and their partnership with Netgalley in exchange for my honest review which is as follows:
A seven year old boy frightened alone in a closet, hiding from the strange men his Mother has brought to the trailor men he is scared of.
A voice, he isn't sure is real at first but it brings him comfort. He's not alone.
A little girl, a new town and a new Mommy who loves her. The best Mommy ever.
They come up with nick names for one another she calls him Finn, he calls her snow.
By the time she is seventeen Snow has become a beautiful young woman.
Finn feels Snow leaving his head one day, as he makes decisions that push him farther and farther away. In many ways he is following his Mothers wreckless path.
When he's twenty Snow is there once more trying to get him to stop drinking and driving.
He realizes then that she is in trouble, Some big tattooed men kidnapped her, and all he knows about Snow is that she is going to College somewhere in the Bible Belt. She never even gave her, her real name.
Finally after an online search he realizes a college student was kidnapped in Georgia.
But who is Snow, does she really exist, or is she a mere figment of his imagination a way for him to escape the realities of his life?
This book is amazing! I loved every page and I didn’t even know it until the end. The problem is that I cannot seem to be able to review a book that is more than it appears. This book is more than the blurb. It’s a story mixed with another story. It’s the limit between reality and imagination.
The characters are spectacular, Finn evolves in a world of darkens, a world in which Snow becomes his light, his good side. He tries to keep her away from his imperfections, he tries to hide his darkness from her. She is his hope of a better future. When his hope is in danger, he will do everything in his power to reach her, to save her.
But the story is more than a telepathic friendship, as it will show you two realities that are about to collide. Will these realities bring Finn his peace of mind? Will he be able to keep Snow alive? You tell me!
I was completely surprised by the ending, it’s mind blowing! Not a single moment such a finale could have crossed my mind! Again, this is one of these titles that deserve more than 5 stars. A big “Congratulations!!! “ and I hope the book and the author receive all the praise that they truly deserve!
I have never read any of these author's books before. I found this book to be an interesting one. the two main characters were really good, the story good 2. its about 2 young kids that can hear each other in their minds. hes a bad boy, she is a good girl. when she is 20 she gets kidnapped and he goes to find her. after that, the book sort of shifts around and the ending of it wasn't at all what I expected. I thought it would end differently than it did but despite my thought to it, it was a good one. I was confused at first, but got it towards the end. It was a really good book. Many thanks to the publisher and to Netgalley for allowing me to review it. I think its going to be a book that will stay with me for a long time and Im going to try and find more books by the author cause it sure was a good thriller.
Finn and Snow started to talk to each other in their minds as young children. We all have that small voice in our head but what if you could talk back and forth with that voice to have a real conversation. That is the unique relationship Finn and Snow have.
Finn is a bad boy growing up on the streets. Snow is a good girl adopted at a young age into a loving family with 2 parents. She didn’t lack for anything.
One day Snow suddenly screams for help, and Finn is determined to find her and rescue her. The problem is he doesn’t know her real name or even where she lives.
I read a lot and I can usually figure out where a book is going towards the end. This one threw me for a loop. I did not see how this was going to play out at all.
This is my first book by this authour. But the synopsis appealed to me straight away. I had to read this book! And how pleased am I that I did? Wow! A breathtaking novel about 2 kids, a boy, Finn from the darker side of life and an innocent little girl called Snow. They start communicaring through their minds. Finn is someone who seemingly has no control of his life. As the connection between them grows....tragedy....snow is kidnapped..... This book just pulls you along and brings out so many emotions....and if that isn't enough, along comes a twist that will blow you away. Awesome book! Highly recommend to everyone that they read this!
