Don't be misled by the title. Well, maybe you won't, but I was. This is no good ghost or horror stories, but it is a very good guidebook to understanding mentality of the Thai elites. I know the so-called hiso are proud of themselves and their family. but nothing I know can compare to the knowledge I gain from this book.
So, if you like to understand the mentality or attitude of the Thai elites, this is the one.
I purchase the book wanting to read ghost stories but this book's main focus is not really about the ghost stories. It is more of a nobility family's memoir that traces back their history and giving some insights to how they lived tracing several decades back: prior, during and after WWII; told through the family's experiences with ghosts. There is more family and historical stories/content than the ghost stories (which are very light). I appreciate the book for its historical content, especially the court life and politics from their POV. However, it is definitely not really the ghost stories I was expecting.
