Rate this book
Fans of The Hunger Games and Michael Grant's Gone series will immerse themselves into Rachel Ward's Numbers trilogy. They follow the story of Jem, a girl with a very unique gift - she can see numbers in people's eyes and those numbers represent the date that person will die.

Stunning psychological thrillers for teenagers, these books explore the themes of death and the redemptive power of love against the intense backdrop of terrorism and the extra sensory. Each novel is fast-paced, gripping and full of surprises throughout.

Please note these books contain themes and language that may be deemed unsuitable for some younger children.

The Numbers trilogy is one of those series people will either love or hate. It is very much what I refer to as a Marmite read. Although I am not a fan of Marmite (honestly, it’s nasty stuff), I did enjoy the Numbers trilogy. It wasn’t a mind-blowing read, but it was addictive enough to keep me entertained.

With an interesting premise, this one kept me gripped from the very outset. The story is true to life when it comes to British culture, allowing me to slip completely into the world despite the science fiction element to it. Each of the books in the series take us deeper into the science fiction world, pulling us further away from what we know about the world, adding another interesting layer. The books are all quick reads, rather simple stories, but they do grip you.

It’s certainly a series worth looking into, simply to see where on the Marmite scale you fall.
