So confident was Battler in the game he had orchestrated that he allowed his opponent, Erika, the use of her precious tape. Immediately, Erika set to work creating three perfectly sealed rooms - seemingly guaranteeing Battler’s downfall. Trapped in a logic error, Battler maneuvers deftly around Erika’s obstacles, impressing even Lady Lambdadelta. But there are no lengths to which Erika would not go in order to secure victory…
Ryukishi07 (竜騎士07, Ryūkishi Zero Nana?, born November 19, 1973) is the pen name of a Japanese man originally from Chiba Prefecture who is well-known as the original creator for the idea of the visual novel series Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Trigger warnings: Graphic torture, murder and abuse.
This is one of the volumes that makes me kick my feet.
Battler has reached a logic error in the game he set up. It was never Erika's intention to play fair in the mystery game. This one takes us on a completely different angle of the whole story.
We saw a glimpse when Battler was small and described his ideal 'partner'.
Although Beato's soul was shattered and Battler breathed new life into this Beato, she is a dainty little thing...
The duel between Beato and Erika filled my heart with such warmth that I grinned through it.
A nicer ending as we struggle to find the actual ending, only 2 arcs left.
it's finally all coming together........ erika got fucked which i have craved for so long. battler and beatrice getting married is also big points for me. the framing has finally all come together. at this point i'm deeply curious to see what the last two episodes are going to be, because this felt like the moment right before a finale, and yet i still somehow have six volumes left............ let's get into it!! i'm not gonna learn any more sitting around here!!!!

A very satisfying conclusion to the story arc and now I'm afraid, because I cannot find a release date for the next volume on Yen Press's website or any websites that I use to order books! There are still two story arcs beyond this one and I want them! Really hope they haven't cancelled the publication due to poor sales or anything!
A very strong ending to one of the weakest episodes. Battler's gambit, Beatrice coming back into action, and Erika's defeat are all top notch Umineko. Episode 6 is also very helpful in trying to get the reader to figure out what's going on while also being a bit subtler than I remember.
Ultimately, a lot of the issues in the visual novel still exist – the pace isn't the best and the tone is awkward, but I do like that feeling of finality in the final chapters and the set-up for Episode 7. While Ange reading for Featherine is interesting and offers some interesting parallels between herself & Erika, her plot wraps up in a very anticlimactic manner.
This is a very good adaptation that improves its source material, but it's still the worst overall episode. To my understanding, Ryukishi's editor passed away in-between Episodes 5 and 6, and you can absolutely feel that in the episode's quality. Dialogue isn't as tight as it used to be, the logic battles aren't as fun (though part of that is flipping which side Battler is playing on), and the story structure is way too bloated. You essentially have the A Plot with Battler and Erika's game, the B Plot with Beatrice trying to get her memories back, the C Plot with the Love Game, the D Plot with Erika's nonsense, the E Plot with Ange's framing, and the F plot with all the witch shenanigans. It's just too much and nothing gets enough time to get fleshed out properly or fully compared to previous episodes. The cast is also getting too big for its own good, taking focus away from characters we've spend a considerable of time getting to know.
Episode Ranking: 5 > 3 > 4 > 2 > 1 > 6

Returning to the wedding from the first part of the Dawn of the Golden Witch we find this chapter of the game draws nigh.
With Erika trying to redeem herself in the eyes of her master and Battler now on the side of the witches as he controls the game in place of Beatrice who was injured but not destroyed by Battler earlier in the series. Now that Battler allowed himself to be played by the opposing team he is in danger of being lost in a logic error himself. Only one person can save him but will it be happily ever after or will the things that go bump in the night make life for the Urashima another series of nightmarish murders? Only one side can win but until the victory is a complete win there is always another game awaiting us.
Another wonderful volume, and of a particularly challenging arc to construe clearly and visually. My hat's off to this mangaka for doing the job deftly and better than some others who had, frankly, easier arcs to convey. All the emotional intensity of the original VN was retained. I'm looking forward to the next volume, since it commences one of my favorite arcs of the series (It vies with Alliance for that title).
"Without love it cannot be seen" est sérieusement une des phrases de toute fiction confondue qui a le plus résonné en moi Umineko outre ses batailles de sophisme et ses personnages absurdement baroques c'est aussi sa thèse sur la perception du monde, de la magie qui nous entoure, et du fait que ce qui compte le plus au final c'est de savoir tourner l'échiquier, et le faire avec amour Car sans amour impossible de percevoir les différentes vérités de ce monde
Absolute fucking kino. Feels like the shot of life the series has been missing. Takes what could’ve been a fairly standard game into a consistently engaging and thought provoking experience. So happy the game turned out like this. Episode 7&8 could be generational
✨Writing a grouped review for the entirety of the manga and copy/pasting. I started reading this 6 months ago at the time of writing and read over a few months and don't remember specifics about every single volume except what I rated them ✨
Umineko has an intriguing premise and good execution which does a lot right. The author manages to create such eerie and scary atmospheres and have the reader on edge wondering what is going to happen next. I particularly enjoyed a lot of the locked room scenarios and discussions and explanations.
Where this manga fails is it's extreme repetitiveness. It wears down on the reader very quickly. As a result I'm not sure this is a manga I would recommend to many people.
I will eventually watch the anime, whilst a short run this may be something I'd be inclined to recommend more as the premise itself is well done.
