This is book 4 in the Chocolate Centered Cozy Mystery Series. The main mystery is solved in each book, but the series is best enjoyed when read in order.
Ally and Charlotte Sweet are running a booth for ‘Charlotte’s Chocolate Heaven’ at a local farmer’s market. Their primary concerns are selling cookies and keeping their cat, Peaches, and pot-bellied pig, Arnold, under control at the market.
But then the son of a prominent and influential farmer is found dead and an old acquaintance of Ally’s is suspected of the murder. Ally’s investigative nature takes over and she goes on a search to find the killer. She tries to tread carefully so she doesn’t step on Detective Luke Elm’s toes, but her investigation leads her down a path straight towards danger.
Will Ally be able to see through the cracks and reveal the murderer before it’s too late? Or will her sleuthing alienate Detective Luke and ruin their developing relationship?

A man is murdered at the farmer's market and no one notices! Ally, of course, and Arnold discover the body. The victim's brother, who once worked with Ally on a play in school, is accused but claims he's innocent. Ally promises to help!
This is the darkest and scariest book yet. I figured out one piece of the puzzle but never knew who the murderer was. I thought for sure it was . The murdrer totally lies to save their own skin and threatens to kill more people just so they can get away with their crimes. Their motive is really shallow and shows they are a seriously twisted individual! There were some ick moments in the red herrings as well I didn't care for.
Ally is about as dumb as Hannah Swensen. HELLO ALLY! You are not a detective! Ally goes beyond stupid in this one. She even asks Luke to do something that could risk his job. Um nope not cool! He, thankfully, says no, but I don't even know how he could still want to go out with her after that. She runs into danger on numerous occassions and nearly gets killed.
At least the will they, won't they romance is resolved.
Thank goodness for Arnold. He saves this story big time. Arnold is the most adorable, intelligent pig since Wilbur!

This series is not for me and I will not be reading more even if they are free!
I love this series and I have read every book in it. I suggest if you have not read any of this series, that you begin with the first book of the series and read them in chronological order. The main characters are Allie Sweet and her grandmother Charlotte Sweet who owns a chocolate bakery called Charlotte's Chocolate Heaven. Allie has an orange/yellow cat named Peaches and Charlotte has a pig named Arnold, who winds up staying with Allie when her grandmother moves into a retirement home. These two animals are quite adorable and add a lot to the storyline, and in several books winds up saving Allie and Charlotte's lives. I would recommend these books to everybody, young and old. They are clean cozy mysteries with memorable characters.
Charlotte and Ally Make the Best Chocolates and So!be Another Mystery
Charlotte is Ally's grandmother and maker of chocolates sold at Charlotte's Chocolate Heaven. She has turned over the business to Ally, though she still works with her part-time. She also helps solve murders. These intrepid women drive Ally's police detective boyfriend crazy with worry, but this time Arthur, Ally's potbelly pig proves invaluable. Terrific series.
Ally's at the farmer's market when she discovers a body under the table, Nigel is dead but no one saw the murder. They are in the next county so Luke can't help. The police close the market down but ask everyone to leave their name and what they saw if anything. Colin, Nigel's brother is considered a suspect in his murder. There is more going on the two farms and Ally's determined to find out what.
Our intrepid protagonist and grandmother are selling their treats at the annual fair. She stumbles on a body. This case is not her cop friend jurisdiction and she is told to keep out of it. But when someone she knows is under suspicion, she is detirmined to find out just who killed and why. It was fairly obvious who did it. It and our protagonists penchant to run into trouble reminds me of Scooby and his friends.v
This story was not as great as the previous ones. There were a lot of lags and the politics concerning a prominent farmer’s son was not overly interesting. Although I still enjoyed the camaraderie between Ally and Grams, the mystery was much slower and way more complicated.
This book was a good fast summer read. I have 3 books in the series and they all have been good. Each has several twist and turns so you never get bored. This makes each book extremely hard to put down unless you are done. Sharon
Things go wrong at a local farmer's market were Ally and Charlotte are running a booth. An old friend of Ally's is suspected of killing his bother. Ally wants to prove he is innocent but at what cost? Will her and Luke's relationship survive this turn of events. Just follow the trail to figure it out. You will enjoy this book and can't stop till you figure out who did it.
What a an adventure in this book. Make sure you read the entire series. Cindy kept me up way past my bedtime this story was so involved to see if the murderer was going to get away Scot free or how many mote lives would be squashed before the killings stopped.
Cindy Bell is a very good writer. Ally, her cat Peaches, Grandma Charlotte & mini pig Arnold, the Chocolate Shop, plus Police Detective Luke will cause to keep reading to the end. Lots of action in a small town.
I chose this rating because it deserved it. The author is a very talented writer. I have read several of her books and enjoyed every one. I would recommend it to anyone.
A dead body at a fair, old friend accused of killing his brother, crops being killed mysteriously, all lead to an impossible way out until Arnold rushes in and . . . You need to read it to find out how they make it out of the gasoline soaked barn.
I enjoy this series a lot. Oh love the interaction with the pets and that one of the characters is a pig. Just so darn cute. Can't wait till the next one.
I enjoyed this one very much. I thought for sure I figured out who the killer was but I got it wrong. I am really looking forward to book 5 and what adventures it holds for Alley.
