The exciting new series from PNR author Scarlett Grove continues! Quick match ...
Big, burly woodworker Angus Grant is an ex-Navy SEAL and second in command on the Rescue Bears crew. He’s eager to settle down, so when he finally gets a perfect match on the shifter-human dating site started by one of the crew, he can’t wait to contact her.
Nerdy, introverted bookkeeper Poppy Robins would like to find a man, but when she signs up on the dating site, she doesn’t expect to get an almost-instant text from a bear shifter saying she’s his mate. Slow burn ...
Poppy calls in sick, packs up her pet parrot Malcolm, and heads for Fate Mountain. She quickly learns that Angus is sweet, sexy, and romantic. Falling for him is easy -- but how can she share her job worries when she’s not even sure what’s going on?
Angus knows curvy, bespectacled Poppy belongs with him. But he's reluctant to go too far with a human woman who might not be willing to commit.
Hot trouble
When Poppy disappears on his alpha Levi’s wedding day, Angus has to do the impossible. Can he track his mate and rescue her from whatever trouble she’s in, make it back for the wedding … and still find time to practice his best-man speech?

3.5 Stars to Big Bear Rescue Bears #3, By Author Scarlett Grove. This is a short, sweet shifter romance of approximately 136 pages, featuring Angus, the gentle giant of the crew. I adored Angus. He was so sweet and patient with Poppy. And when it was necessary, he was a fierce protector. Don't get in his way when it comes to protecting those he loves!
Poppy just found her match on the shifter/human dating app. In fact, her match is identified as 100% her fated mate. Not sure she believes in fated mates, but it didn't stop her from calling in sick from work, getting in her car and driving to Fate Mountain where a gorgeous bear shifter awaits. Since finding discrepancies in the books at her job, and worrying she may be in trouble, Poppy is happy to make the trip to meet Angus; to get away for a while.
Angus knows as soon as he sees Poppy in person, she is his. Determined to make her his, Angus decides the best approach is to go slow as not to scare her off. But as Poppy and Angus's relationship grows, danger is lurking. Angus will stop at nothing to protect her.
I won't get into the details as this book is short. Due to the flow and pace of the story, you can read in in under a couple of hours. I have read the previous books and would recommend you do so before reading this one. While, they are stand alone romances, your reading experience and overall enjoyment will be better if you do. Throughout all the books, the whole bear crew is present and they are a good part of what makes the series enjoyable.
The negative aspect is the editing. There are a lot of mistakes which was why I didn't give a higher rating. Still, I enjoyed reading about Angus and Poppy. He is such a teddy bear.
This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it. :)
This was a pretty good story. I liked both Poppy and Angus and enjoyed their story. This is the first story I've read by this author and I like it well enough that I'm planning to try more of her work in the future.
Poppy is a bookkeeper that works for an import/export business that's run by a bunch of Russians. Poppy likes being a bookkeeper but has some worries about her employers. The worries were small at first but as time went by, Poppy became more convinced that something is going on at the business that she doesn't want involved in.
Angus is a bear shifter that lives in the mountains, in a community that's heavily shifter. He works as on a rescue team along with other bears in the area. Shifters used to be secret but they decided to come out to the public (maybe 10-20 years before this story I'd guess). It didn't go well at all but then a war with a neighboring country started and the shifters joined the military, proving that they're an asset to the nation. Now shifters are accepted and women are happy at the idea of being a shifter's mate.
One of the other bears on Angus' team is smart in a geeky way and he made a dating app for shifters that would help them find their fated mate. Angus signed up on the app but hadn't had any luck finding the 100% match that meant the woman was likely to be his fated mate. Poppy signed up because she really was interested but it also didn't hurt that her matchup with Angus came at a time when her employers were making her more and more nervous about continuing to work for them. When Angus asks to meet her, Poppy decides to call out sick and drive to Oregon to meet him. And if I go into much more I'll spoil the story... So let's just say that Poppy and Angus are mates and things go well between them. There's some danger/drama due to Poppy's ex-employers but once that's handled, Poppy and Angus are well on their way to a HEA together.
This was a pretty enjoyable story. Poppy was a really good heroine and I liked her. Angus was a great guy. He may be a big & bad bear shifter but inside, he's a real teddy bear. The story was pretty simple and it wasn't perfect but it worked for me and I enjoyed it. I would recommend this story, especially if you get it as a freebie like I did. :D
2+ A bit more than OK, but not quite a full 3 stars.
I liked Angus and Poppy and thought they were cute, but at the same time, something was missing from the story as a whole. I dunno, it felt very middle-of-the-series? I guess that's the way to put it? A lot of time is spent on Levi and Juliet and their wedding (updating characters from Book 1 in the series) and a good amount is about Drew brooding about his mate who scampered off (laying the groundwork for Book 4). Poppy and Angus's story seems actually pretty small in proportion, at least in terms of character development.
Also, with the whole wedding thing, it felt like the passages about 'how the mates filled the hole in their lives' (and variations thereof) felt repeated quite a lot for a book only 170ish pages long. My cynical little soul was getting tired of it.
And a few silly side notes...
Poppy's glasses are broken in the chase through the woods, but it never follows up that she's in contacts or backup glasses or anything. All the talk repeated about her glasses when it comes to her description, but then she's just wearing them broken through the wedding?
And did they have to specify "twisted braids" everytime Poppy's hair was mentioned? Every girl I've known who's worn braids just calls them "braids"...
Still, it was free on Kindle, no cheating, and HEA for the leads (and updates on the HEAs from the characters in books 1 and 2). It's an enjoyable quick read, but it felt like it wasn't about Angus and Poppy as much it should have been (a shame because they're really a cute couple).
Yayyyy! Yet another awesome story of how fate tends to make all right in the world when you give it a try. Ms. Grove certainly has a way with words, letting you live vicariously through them. In this, the third episode of the Rescue Bears, we find big, burly and quiet Angus, who is aching to find his fated mate, finally meet his match. The only question is, will his big heart be able to handle all of the drama that comes with her? Poppy, a quiet, nerdy bookkeeper, is tired of being alone. She knows she needs a special man in her life, and decides to sign up for Mate.com, with the hopes of doing just that. After hearing what she suspects is criminal activity between her bosses, she's even more determined to find a mate. When a perfect match comes to her on mate.com, she can only hope that he feels for her, what she feels. And it couldn't happen at a better time, just when she thinks she needs the protection he promises to give.
BIG BEAR is the third book in the Rescue Bears series. Each will stand alone, but even better if you read them all and in the order of release.
I love a man who loves what he does. Angus loves working with wood and he has become a master artisan. Now, he wants a special lady to share his life.
I love these stories using the app that Cory has developed to match his friends with their perfect mate. The adventures and the suspense are perfectly suited for each couple, but also the other couples are woven to each story, making it a community.
I absolutely loved Poppy and her bird. Angus is big, built, sweet, and sexy – totally sigh-worthy.
I’ll be back soon with Brew Bear!
Title: BIG BEAR Series: Rescue Bears #3 Category /Genre: Paranormal Suspense Romance Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors Received from: Amazon purchase
I didn't see the cover until after I read the story. The description is much better then the cover. This guy's head is too small for his body. Angus would be built by his woodworking. His muscles would be hard and much more natural looking. I see him standing almost 7 feet tall, larger than the rest of the men in the Rescue Bears. Angus is my dream man, large and gentle, hard working with a creative imagination and hands that know how to carve exactly what he wants. The heroine is a bookkeeper who is tired of her boring life and wants something new, so she signs up for mate.com Unfortunately, Poppy doesn't know it, but she works for the Russian mob. Poppy calls in sick to work and takes off to Fate Mountain to meet Angus. This story is sweet and sexy and Angus is the best!
Big Bear is an entertaining paranormal romance by Scarlett Grove. Ms. Grove has provided readers with a fast-paced book loaded with outstanding characters. Angus is an ex-Navy SEAL and part of the Rescue Bears. He joins a dating site hoping to meet his perfect match. Poppy is a bit of a geek and joins the dating site. She's surprised at getting an immediate text saying she's his mate. Just in time too, because her boss is up to some shenanigans she wants no part of. Angus and Poppy's story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I enjoyed reading Big Bear and look forward to reading more from Scarlett Grove in the future. Big Bear is book 3 of the Rescue Bears Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Fate Mountain has its bears particularly the ones in fate mountain rescue team two of the have found their mates Levi marrying his Juliette and shane finding his time for big bear to find his after one text poppy is on her eat to meet Angus wow she wasn’t expecting the attraction and feelings straight away a kidnapping a mud slide and lost in the forest Angus needs to find his mate. You will have to read the rest to find out what happens. This is the 3rd book of rescue bears and it doesn’t disappoint now time to read the next book. Can be read at standalone enjoy
Good series, cut think something is missing. read 2 of them so far. in this one Angus is waiting for his mate to be found. and getting ready to be best man at his alpha's wedding. Poppy is a book keeper for some shady men. when she heres something she wasn't to she runs. well really it's going to meet the man who was picked 100% as her's.. he's her perfect mate, and a way to get out of town to decide what she needs to do. she packs up her bird and car and heads off to meet the man of her dreams.. book is short so easy to read in few hours really.
I really liked this one. I had read the first one in the series and really liked it so when I saw this I didn't hesitate. I did however feel like I missed A LOT by not reading the second book so I would recommend that anyone make sure to read them in order. the instant attraction but slow burn between the two was very well done because Angus wanted to make sure Poppy was sure before he claimed her and that was really sweet. I also really liked the comic relief in Malcolm the parrot.. he was so cute.
☆☆☆☆ This novel is about Poppy and Angus aka Big Bear.
Poppy and Angus are matched on the infamous dating website for shifters. Poppy needs a way out of town because her gut tells her that she is working for bad people. When she arrives at Fate Mountain there is a connection to Angus. However, Poppy suddenly goes missing. She's been kidnapped by Russians and needs Angus to save the day.
I throughly enjoyed this one! Drama and action is a huge plus for me and this one had both. Plus having a shifter that is extremely sweet and romantic is a bonus. I also loved the little birdies too.
Another great story in the rescue bear series. Augus is second in command. The is the biggest bear of the group but despite his big size he is a teddy bear. All he wants is to find his true mate. He finds her on the shifter dating app. Poppy is a bookkeeper and a bird lover. Her bird Malcolm is her friend and companion. Poppy ends up in some trouble but her mate will save her. A couple hot sex scenes and a good storyline makes this a good quick read. Loved it can't wait for the next book
Angus is the biggest bear in the whole crew of Rescue Bears, but he didn't use his size to dominate he was more of a mediator and also why he was Levi's second in command. He used Corey's new application to find his "true mate", but for months there was no 4 star rating then one night it was there and that's how he met Juliet.....and if I say more....well just read the book.
On mate.com, Angus (a rescue bear) finds his 100% match Poppy (a bookkeeper who has unknowingly been working for some very bad guys). Finding her match the day she realized she could be into a a bad spot with her bosses as she figures she might have missed something happening in their company. She is kidnapped, in a mudslide, lost in the woods after escaping, freezing finally rescued by her bear mate. A HEA ending but so much happening from start to finish.
Mate.com strikes again. This time with a big bear woodcrafter and a bookkeeper who has inadvertently been working for the mob. Oh, and it’s the alpha’s wedding week. All works out, although I thought I would be disappointed in how the bad guys were handled. However they were wrapped up rather neatly.
Scarlett has hot another one out of the park in her series about the rescue bears. The dating app for shifters has mated another beat 💯%. But the Russian mob has another agenda for Angus's mate who is their bookkeeper. The thrill and Chase of finding Poppy after she is kidnapped. Definitely an exciting read.
But not great. Premise and outline great. Problem is I felt like all the characters were at a distance. Never felt like I was the character in the story. Too detached. One other thing, I’m not black but the mention of monkey sex could be perceived as stereotypical. How about just using other terminology.
Poppy is matched with Angus a steady influence on the Fate Mountain Rescue team. Bookkeeper Poppy needs a change and a shifter seems just the right choice. A wedding & a kidnapping round out the story nicely. The best man 's toast had me crying too. I look forward to the next book.
It was fun and fluffy...no unneeded drama between the main characters. I also liked Poppy's story where she realised she was working for the 'enemy'. It created a bit of drama but nothing over the top.
I picked this up as a freebie and was happily surprised. It being part 3 of a series was no problem, it had callbacks to previous books but worked well as a standalone.
I'm loving how the human/shifter relations work in this series, and Angus and Poppy are a sweet couple. But there are chapters that read like a first draft. This author definitely has a way with storytelling, but an editor/beta reader would bring out the best in her work. 💗
Very good book, Ms. Grove is guaranteed for a good read. Have read all of the Fate Mountain series. All very good books. Well written and edited. Good character building. This was a very fun read.
Another great short shifter story.loved it. Angus has been wanting a mate for quite awhile. Poppy as a bookkeeper but isn’t happy as she finds her employers are dealing in guns . There’s kidnapping, soulmates ,love and sex.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves shifter books like me. A story of looking for love, finding your true mate and persevering through obstacles to find each other for life. A wonderful story that keeps you intrigued until the end.
I loved this book. It was a quick easy read and it was well written. This is one for that lazy afternoon when you have nothing to do but read. I encourage you to get this book when your looking got that kind of read. This one is worth your time and effort. I think you will enjoy it, I did!!!
Wow! What a great love story! The plot was exceptional, lots of excitement! Loved the hot bear shifters, lots of drama with the wedding and the kidnapping! Loved the birds, too! This was a really cute and fun book with just the right amount of excitement to keep you reading! Loved, loved it!
Another exciting and solid read! A whirlwind romance, some bad guys doing bad things, a hero of the gentle kind and a heroine of the best kind. Gotta love those nerdy shy girls! Especially when paired with a strong gentle man!
