The Big Interview by Libby Kirsch is the most exciting thriller I have read. There's a famous NASCAR driver, a member that shouldn't be on the board, and a jealous ex as well as a good for nothing brother. One newcomer, aka the new reporter, Stella Reynolds has a lot on her plate to deal. Her boss is the kind of man that sexually harasses women around in the workplace. Then, there's her boyfriend, that is becoming more and more distant with each passing day. Stella has to cover the life of NASCAR and she knows absolutely nothing about it...but as the story develops so does the plans of killing to innocent people...Stella is also renting a place that is owned by the famous NASCAR driver whom everyone thinks is dead...until he suddenly pops up in Stella's apartment. From there things get crazier and a whole lot more deadly. Libby Kirsch also brings a whole of heat to her stunning novel. The hot instant attraction and the humor, as well as the suspense, will drag readers instantly into this magnificent read. I couldn't stop reading the book.

The Big Interview is funny, sexy, and intriguing. Readers will be glued from the first page until the last. It is clear that Libby Kirsch is indeed the most talented writer. I don't know how Libby Kirsch managed to pull it off, but she has combined a thriller suspense with a murder mystery. The characters are quirky but smart. The main characters will have to be smarter to put together all of the pieces and manage to expose what happened, how it happened, and who did it. Everything was wrapped up nicely. No loose ends. I didn't know who the murderers were until the end when Libby Kirsch let out the truth. The knowledge of a news station and how they operate was amazing! I couldn't believe just how realistic every detail was...this was the first novel I have read by Libby Kirsch and I loved it. I am looking forward to reading her next book in this brilliant series. Overall, I would highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

Reviewed for Chick Lit Central (www.chicklitcentral.com)

The Stella Reynolds series just keeps getting better and better!

As much as I enjoyed The Big Lead, the first in this series, The Big Interview was a smidge faster where the pace is concerned, and I loved how there were quite a few suspects on the line, this time, which made me question who the culprit was at every turn, keeping me on the edge of my seat for most of the book!

Stella is still a strong and vocal female lead, not putting up with any malarkey from anyone, especially not the new co-workers she finds herself having to contend with on a near daily basis. It almost makes her miss the Bozeman, Montana crew, the people she’d befriended and worked with before moving to Virginia. Working in Bozeman had proved difficult, because the technology and electronics were way behind the times, making her job difficult. But she’d take that any day over her arrogant boss!

She also finds herself at the center of the most unusual situations, where her love life is concerned. Somehow, it becomes interlaced with all the drama that crops up from the driver’s death, but when it comes to Stella, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Libby Kirsch is a phenomenal writer, creating the best scenes and characters, the kind you can’t help but feel invested in and continually want to know more about. I’m really hoping for a third installment to the Stella Reynolds series, and I can’t wait to see what life has in store for her next!

My Review:

This is one of those books that you cannot put down. So fair warning, before you start reading this; get some food and something to drink. Because you will have a hard time putting this one down!

Plot

The plot was amazing! I kept thinking one person is responsible and then I was proven wrong. Reminded me a lot of Agatha Christie, I have always loved reading her books since she makes the reader believe the person they think is the culprit really is until the last chapter. Then everything changes and makes perfect sense! Is Libby as good as Agatha? No! But if she keeps doing what she is doing, she will get there!

Pace

The pace, in the beginning, was a little slow for me, but it was good enough to get me to all the action. But when the driver is killed the action begins and the pace is very good! I believe the beginning was slow because she has a lot of describing to do. I loved how she described everything so well, from the cities to the newsroom. It made me feel like I was right there with the characters. I love it when an author can be descriptive without being boring.

Characters

Now I loved Stella! She was an amazing MC. Sometimes, though, she pissed me off. There were times I wanted to shake her. Yet, she was the perfect armature detective! I loved her very very much! On the other hand, there were so many characters! Gosh, it was hard to keep up. So many people in the newsroom, so many people outside the newsroom - so many faces!

The big interview is everything I wanted in one mystery, potential love, craziness and amazing writing!

Do I recommend it? Hell yeah!

Plot: 4.5/5

Characters: 4/5

Pace: 4/5

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Received this book as a read & review. What a wonderful book, had my interest from the start. There were more twists and turns in this book than a race track. The ending was quite a surprise, had me speachless. Am going to read book 1 in the series and can't wait to read more Stella's adventures.

About the Book:
Stella's Saga Continues!
The perfect book for fans of the laugh-out-loud lines in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series combined with the who-done-it page turning style of a Sue Grafton mystery.
TV reporter Stella Reynolds signs with a new station, excited to move to a bigger city for a better job. When she arrives in Bristol, Virginia, though, she finds a sexist, mean boss, unfriendly coworkers, and a town in love with a sport she’s never even watched—NASCAR!

Before she can unpack her bags, Stella is drawn into an investigation when a driver is killed in a fiery wreck on the track.

Experts call his death a tragedy, but Stella has insider information that the accident is anything but.

With a slippery ex-fiancee, an angry father, and a nosy neighbor, you’ll be laughing on one page and gasping on the next. If all goes according to plan, the facts will be revealed during an epic live Big Interview. But when does anything ever go according to plan?

The Big Interview is a standalone book in the Stella Reynolds Mystery Series. If you like a great mystery peppered with laugh out loud moments and cringe-worthy catastrophes, Libby Kirsch's The Big Interview is for you.

Buy Libby Kirsch's book today, and see how the final big interview goes down when the cameras go live.

My Thoughts:
The Big Interview is the second book in the Stella Reynolds Mystery Series, I don't know if its connected to the first book or a stand alone however it was easy enough to follow despite the fact that I haven't read the first book so if you haven't either it shouldn't be hard for you to follow along.

I kinda liked The Big Interview, it read like one of those fresh YA/NA cutsy mysteries where the teenager tends to get her overly curious nose into some sticky situations.

I liked Stella, she stood out and was a great chick, although a bit young minded at times was fun to follow through her journey to uncovering the truth. All in all was an enjoyable read.

Stella, having lost her job at the Montana TV station, has a new job in Virginia. It's not as small-market a station as the one in Montana, but she early learns that the boss is a real pain. He hired her because she wasn't blonde, as he thinks only non-blondes are smart. He also expected her to be the 'ugly' reporter, and makes some snarky comments about how she isn't ugly enough. He also runs down most of her stories and her on-camera techniques. There is a big NASCAR speedway in town, and Stella is totally ignorant about NASCAR racing. While Billy Joe is showing her around the track, she meets Lucky Haskins, a high profile racer, and -surprise! - a real hunk. Since the long-distance relationship is cooling things off with her previous hunk in Montana, she immediately begins drooling over the new one, and they become friendly. (This girl is seriously attracted to six-packs.) He offers her an apartment in a building that he owns, and since the price is right, she takes it. He keeps pushing that he wants to be more than friends, and she is holding off, still hoping to hear from the old boyfriend. Later, his race car explodes on the track during during qualifying runs at Talladega, throwing fans all over the country into mourning. So when he shows up in her apartment, alive, her life gets very complicated. It seems it was his brother driving the car, and he wants to find out who killed him. So they go to Alabama and start snooping around. Her friend Janet (the noisy neighbor from the previous book) shows up, as does Lucky's ex-fiance. Trying to keep Lucky undercover and Janet quiet takes up a lot of Stella's time. But she gets the big interview at the racetrack and televises a murderer's confession - as well as getting herself slugged in the jaw on camera. This was a lot better story than the first book, possibly because the characters were more interesting; also there was a fair amount of humor and the NASCAR background added a lot. Still an awful lot of drooling on Stella's part, but I guess some people like to have sexy romance mixed with their mysteries. I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first, so I'll continue with the series.

Stella Reynolds moved to Bristol, Virgina to work for NBC2 TV near NASCAR Racing after the TV Station in Montana closed. After meeting everyone she was on an assignment to go with Billy Joe the photographer at the race track. There she met Lucky Haskins the Star driver who helped her get an apartment to rent. While watching TV at the station with the other reporters saw Lucky's car wreck and go up in flames killing him. Different ones felt that something happened to the race car, not an accident. A weird thing happened to Stella to make her start investigating the wreck to find who was responsible.

Stella, a news reporter, has left Montana and moved to a bigger station. Her quirky friend, Janet, has come along. Stella's long distance romance with John dies, as does a famous race car driver named Lucky. As Stella covers the the story, she senses the 'accident' was intentional. When a surprise witness appears, she and Janet join forces to uncover the evidence to prove it was murder for the biggest story of her career. Lots of action and twists.

I very much enjoy the Stella Reynolds series. For starters, they're just plain well-written, with proper use of grammar and punctuation, which may seem like faint praise but means a lot to me, as I try to wade through some of the poorly-edited dreck that passes for novel-writing these days!
The title character is tons of fun, and the others are well fleshed-out. I didn't find the plot of this one as compelling as her first, but still a darn good read with fun twists.

I at times wanted to slap the main character while reading this book. Annoying and pompous. I've read all the books in the series, hoping I would grow to like her. Nope, I liked her less and less. The "Man flip flop" is old, the story line itself isn't that interesting. Nothing memorable here.....

This is a thoroughly entertaining book. It does have some innuendo and some fortunately short sex scenes, which was disappointing. Other than that, I liked it a lot. The details about life as a TV reporter are especially interesting.

This book had everything I love to hate - mean bosses and NASCAR! Stella is sure having an interesting time. This book had a great mystery, great characters and a satisfying ending. I almost forgot to leave my review since I was searching for book three which I know is on my Kindle. You won't be sorry with this one since I think it's even better than the first - which I loved! I definitely recommend you prioritize this book over the others you have waiting!

I had liked The Big Lead so I was anxious for another adventure with Stella. I enjoyed the change of setting and learning about broadcast journalism. The story kept me interested but it's the spot-on pacing by the author that keeps these books on my radar. I'm ready for the next one and I hope there are many more. Keep them coming!

Yay! I was super excited when Libby Kirsch contacted me about her newest book! I loved her first book in this series- The Big Lead. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. 4/5 stars! Stella has left the small town of Boze to move to the larger town of Bristol. Things with John are shaky- with their opposite work schedules, the two just aren’t talking. Enter the handsome Nascar driver- Lucky. Stella is just starting to know him when a tragedy occurs. Stella goes into investigative mode once again to uncover what is really behind the “accident.”

I loved this book! Stella is such an awesome character! She is relatable, adorable, and you’re cheering for her every step of the way! I love that these books put her out of her element, into a new situation, and she has to learn how to handle them. She is only 23 and has a lot of responsibility at her new job. It’s something I can totally relate to and the whole “fake it ’til you make it” thing.

Lucky is a total charmer and I was surprised that I didn’t miss the love interest of the last book- John- very much. She even ends up re-connecting with Janet, the hilarious hotel neighbor from the last book! There were a lot of interesting characters at Stella’s new job and her new, nosy neighbor was also a fun addition.

The mystery was well-done, yet again. I love reading about every step of Stella’s investigative process. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen until it was all revealed, but it was well-foreshadowed. This book was exciting and I read it very quickly because I wanted to find out who was behind the “accident!” Just like Stella, I had no idea how her big interview would end until it happened! The book had a very satisfying conclusion.

At the end, a sneak peek of the next book is given. Ahhhh, it sounds so good! I can’t wait to read more about Stella’s adventures! I totally recommend this book to fans of books that mix chick lit and mystery!

3.5 stars. If you're looking for your next cosy mystery to read, you don't have to look any further and you seriously might want to give this one a go. I don't have much experience in this genre but I quite enjoyed this light read. This novel made a nice mixture of whodunit with a touch of romance.

In The Big Interview Stella signed a new contract as a reporter for NBC2 in Bristol, taking her a long distance away from her old life and boyfriend John, in Montana. On her first day on the job she is shown around the Speedway - not a gas station or shopping mall as she first assumes - but a NASCAR track where she meets Lucky Haskins, NASCAR's number one driver for three years running.

What is looking to be the first sparks of a new (swoonworthy) romance is over before it truly began however. Devastating news arrives that Lucky was involved in a car crash in the race in Talladega and Stella is even instructed to report about the crash. Everybody seems unanimous that it was uncharacteristic for him to take such risks and Stella becomes convinced it was a matter of foul play. She is determined to expose the murderer live on tv but first she has to uncover who it is while the minutes are ticking away until the Live Interview.

The story flowed really well and it was built up to a surprising conclusion. It's absolutely not obvious who the killer is, or his motive to want to kill Lucky. At first it seems everybody liked him and it's only gradually that people's grievances start to surface and other things come into play. I really wanted to know who was after Lucky and the author did a marvelous job at keeping it a mystery for so long. I had to wait for the Big Interview too to get the full picture of the situation.

When I read the blurb for this book I have to admit that part of the appeal was the comparison to Janet Evanovich and Sue Grafton’s books and while this was a good story I don’t feel it was quite in the same league as those. Having said that it I did enjoy it and it definitely had some funny moments. The fact that I hadn’t read the first book in the series didn’t have any effect on my understanding or enjoyment of this one. We meet Stella as she is starting her first day in her new job. It’s quite clear that this job is both different from her previous one and not quite what she expected but after a bit of a rocky start she gets the hang of it and then things really start to take off. I knew very little about news coverage and programme production before I read this book but the descriptions and detail that we are given are very clear and informative and definitely add to the story. The characters are well-written and Stella is especially good, I liked her attitude to things and the fact that she has doubts and concerns like everyone else. The crime/mystery element of the story had enough twists and surprises that made it tricky to figure out who did it but not so many that it was confusing.

This is definitely a funny, easy read with enough shocks and surprises to keep you reading and guessing until the end. The third book in the series is out later this year and looks like another good read and one I will be looking forward too.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Stella Reynolds moves from her small TV station in Bozeman, MT to a larger station in Bristol, TN. Unfortunately, when she gets there, she takes an immediate dislike to her new boss, Keith Howard, who is an abrasive jerk.

While getting a tour of the town with a cameraman, Billy Joe, she winds up at the Speedway in Bristol where she meets Lucky Haskins, a famous NASCAR driver. They seem to hit it off pretty well and Stella ends up renting an apartment from him. A few days later, Lucky is in Taladega for a NASCAR race and duing a qualifying run, his car goes out of control, resulting in an explosion and fire that nobody could possibly survive. But was it really an accident? Several people who were watching the monitor insist that something looks wrong, but can't say exactly what for certain.

When Lucky suddenly shows up at Stella's apartment, she doesn't know what to think. To make matters worse, nobody can find Jim Cruisner, Lucky's Pit Crew Chief. Stella manages to get Keith to send her to the Taladega Raceway, ostensibly for an interview with Jim. Then a second body is discovered at the Raceway. Can Stella pull everything together and solve the mystery before her big interview on Live TV?

The Big Interview by Libby Kirsch

One of the things I really like about these - what shall we call them - reality novels, is the fact they are real. Yep a novel, a made up story, but the reality comes through and when you have a writer like Libby Kirsch who takes a real life (hers) and builds it into something huge and exciting - it is well worth it. The grit of real life in a story book format.
If I can think of one criticism - my recommendation would be sometimes it is overly simplistic and there are bits of explanation, descriptions that might have been better left to the readers' imagination.
But that being said, this book is full of interest, comedy, tragedy, romance, mystery, thrills, strange characters and more. How do you get all of this in one story? Never ceases to amaze me; but someone authors are just like that.

Grabbed me at the go!

The story starts out with a death. But before the death the character is built up to be so likable/lovable that it is a shock when it happens. Similar to that feeling when watching Game of Thrones and a favorite character gets off-ed.

But first let me say, I jumped into this book without reading book one and was thoroughly taken with the characters. I plan to take advantage of the free download of book one (here) available during the book tour.

This book is very entertaining with a tasty chex mix of humor (kept me chuckling), mystery (remained so until the end) and a touch of romance (for more than one couple). It will take you on a fun adventure into the world of race car driving and the TV coverage that support it.

The side character, Janet, is a hoot! She is one of those strong live-out-loud characters. She is also a partner in Stella's sleuthing and I hope continues to make her way into future books in this series.

I received a review copy

I have also read and reviewed The Big Lead by Libby Kirsch and absolutely raved about it! I was so looking forward to reading the next book in the series, and was thrilled with Libby contacted me about a review copy. Once again, I had so much fun solving mysteries and reporting the news with Stella Reynolds. The beginning delivered a total jaw-dropping moment – and then another! – and it was a great kick off to the story. I don’t think this was quite as fast-paced as the first book and I didn’t think Stella’s prior relationship was really touched on enough, but other than that, still a really great read, lots of twists and turns, and a terrific ending. One for mystery lovers!

Good storyline

I was given a free copy for an honest review.

This is book 2 in the Stella Reynolds Mysteries. You don't have to read book 1 first. Once again, Stella was a strong woman that goes after what she wants. After the first book being clean, I was a bit disappointed that there was sex in this book, I prefer for that to be left up to the imagination. It wasn't terribly descriptive, but it didn't add to the book at all.

The storyline was good, with Stella doing what it takes to get her story. She does what she needs to do & stands her ground when needed. I was disappointed in her relationships.

I hope there is a book 3 & I will read it, but leave the language & sex out of it please.

I wish book 3 was ready so I could continue with Stella's adventures! Stella is funny and smart with a maturity beyond her 23 years. She had good chemistry with Lucky and their romance was well written and not revealed like a soft porn novel. I especially appreciated that the mystery was not all tied up at the end. Just as in real life, Stella suspected others might be involved who were not charged with a crime. The story is fast paced and even better than book 1. I hope Libby Kirsch writes quickly because I want to read more by this author.
