From the first moment coffee mogul, Will Carrington, gazes into the fiery, green eyes of Clare Sullivan, he’s hit with the feeling she does not like him. Not. One. Little. Bit. Used to being the proverbial prize by some gorgeous gold-digging fortune hunter, he’s learned to be careful. But with his hunter instincts now on high alert, he’s determined to find out the why behind her stormy-eyed glances. Top home designer, Clare Sullivan, wants absolutely nothing to do with arrogant, self-assured Will Carrington, especially after he called her half-sister a gold digger. When she gets the opportunity to design his multi-million dollar Miami penthouse, she arrives at his office ready to decline his offer, and to tell him exactly what she thinks of his cruel and un-warranted comments. While there, she overhears his one-sided phone conversation, which seems to further insult her sister. Assuming the worse, Clare makes the rash decision to accept the job and charge him a fortune in the process. Someone needs to teach him a lesson and what better way than with a swift kick in his wallet. Since she and her sister have different surnames, Clare conveniently hides the connection to her sister. But while she works with Will, she discovers another side to this self-assured, woman-hater. A Jekyll to his Hyde. Charming and professional, he’s nothing like the man she’s heard about. What she doesn’t know is Will Carrington has a few secrets of his own.
Darcy Flynn is known for her heartwarming, sweet contemporary romances. Her refreshing storylines, irritatingly handsome heroes and feisty heroines will delight and entertain you from the first page to the last. Miss Flynn’s heroes and heroines have a tangible chemistry that is entertaining, humorous and competitive.
Darcy lives with her husband and a menagerie of other living creatures on her horse farm in Franklin, Tennessee. She stargazes on warm summer nights and indulges daily in afternoon tea.
When Clare Sullivan, top home designer, learns from her younger sister that coffee mogul, Will Carrington, called her a gold digger, protective Clare can’t resist agreeing to help Will Carrington to redesign his Florida pent house. Since the sisters have different last names, it’s the perfect opportunity for her to seek revenge and literally “make him pay” for the insulting remark.
Will Carrington is clueless why Clare is acting so strange and aloof, but he captivated by her stormy green eyes and her exquisite beauty. And he needs an interior designer.
This is a wonderful romantic story about mistaken identities. It’s filled with witty, delightful dialogue. Author Darcy Flynn writes a rewarding story with likeable characters that keeps the reader smiling throughout.
This isn’t my first Darcy Flynn romance. I’ve enjoyed several of her others, and this one doesn’t disappoint! The writing is excellent, and the conflicts, both inner and external, come through clearly without being flaunted. I loved the natural progression of the relationship. The only thing that puzzled me: why would it take an identical twin like Will so darned long to figure out why Clare didn’t seem to like him?
Double Trouble is a fun and flirty romantic comedy with loads of chemistry between the hero and heroine. The dialogue is witty and I love the fact that it is set in Miami, Naples and The Keys, because I’m a Miami native. I won’t give away the ending but the book involves a case of mistaken identity. I've read one other Darcy Flynn book, Hawke's Nest and this was equally enjoyable.
This was a great read. The fact that Will didn't know who Clare really was added an element of excitement, and I loved how Clare was so protective of her sister. I also enjoyed the dialogue between Will and Clare because it was filled with tension and wit. It was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend this one.
A light-hearted and entertaining story about mistaken identity and twins. Romantic comedies with great banter are a favorite theme of mine, and I thoroughly enjoyed the read.
Such a fun read! It's an adorable romantic comedy that would make an awesome movie. Love the feisty heroine and her cute 'gold digger' scheme. And, the sexy hero isn't a bad touch either. :)
This is a different take on the twin/mistaken identity thing because in this story, the GUYS are the twins. Actually, two sets! Enjoyed the romance and would definitely recommend.
-'“Let me assure you. Your questions are welcome. You can be as irritating, intrusive, and personal as you’d like. I promise it won’t bother me. Not one little bit. You can save your stiff, formal, nose-in-the-air attitude for someone else. And if it makes you feel any better, the last thing I intend is for your beautiful self to interest me in the slightest. And you can be certain your long legs have completely escaped my notice.” He smiled his most engaging smile, never once taking his eyes off her uncomfortable face.'-
I loved the banter between the two characters. Witty, smart, fast come-backs. It was like watching a ping-pong match. This high-spirited story caught my attention and held on from beginning to end. As always, Darcy Flynn is a master at her craft and Double Trouble is a great book. Well worth the read. Highly recommended.
The trouble with twins. I just love twin stories and was expecting a lot from Darcy Flynn’s “Double Trouble”. As the tagline reads: “All’s fair in love and getting even”.
What intrigued me the most was the witty dialogue, especially between the main characters, Clare Sullivan and Will Carrington. The story’s premise is built around a case of mistaken identity (with twins? Really?) and plots of getting even, all told in a fresh manner with two sets of identical twins. Double the trouble and double the possibilities.
“Double Trouble” is a clean, contemporary, romantic comedy that will keep you laughing one page and shaking your head on another page. The interaction between the well-developed characters is genuine and believable.
I would recommend “Double Trouble” to readers looking for a humorous, fast read. It took me around three hours one evening to read and enjoy this story. My only complaint was I wish the author had described setting in a little more detail. I’m not familiar with areas Flynn used, and sometimes I was left with a gap due to not fully picturing the setting where it was integral to a given scene. I will still look for more works from Darcy Flynn.
A lovely light hearted fun read. The dialogue between the main characters was punchy and well written. Without giving anything away Double Trouble is ultimately a story of mistaken identity, set in southern Florida. I read this on the beach and for me it was the perfect beach read.
The twins are millionaires, of course mistaken identity is a given in this fun to read romance. The beautiful Florida back drop is all about vacation land.
With two romances in this story of twin brothers and half sisters, you not only get double trouble, but double the romance and therefore double the pleasure!
