Lion To Get Her

Rate this book
Who the hell has time for love? Lion-shifting Laney Langston, Redby Township’s assistant librarian, sure doesn’t. Between juggling book clubs, story time for the town’s cubs, and her increasingly neurotic best friend, she’s got just about all she can handle.

The last thing she needs is more drama in her life, but when a half-naked lion is found asleep in the library she feels stirring in places she’d really rather not stir in a public library.

Rip Black is one big, bad lion who is sick of the spotlight. Once he was a firebrand who fought endlessly for shifter rights, but lately this muscled-up alpha is just looking for somewhere to hide. As luck—or fate—would have it, he chose the “S” section of the Redby Public Library to take a nap.

When he wakes up with one supremely irritated Laney hovering above him, Rip realizes in the blink of an eye that everything he’s ever wanted is right here in Redby... and he ain’t gonna stop until he gets EXACTLY what he wants.

***This sexy, steamy, hilarious lion-shifter romance is the crossover between Jamesburg and Grayslake that you’ve always wanted...and now it’s gonna make you ROAR!***

I have to admit...this was my least favorite of the Grayslake spin-off and I've read them all. I've read Izzy and Erik's story which I loved from Lynn Red's Jamesburg shifter series. So, having them in the book was cool. Seeing a bit of Reid was even good. Where it went wrong for me is Laney and Rip. Honestly, I had no idea who the guy was. Gilligan the guitar guy was more impressive than these 2 MC's. There seemed to not be much about Rip other than his views about fellow shifters. Thats all we really know about him. I didnt feel any romance between the 2 a smidge of lust but not really. Laney's inner thoughts were nothing but confusing. I couldnt make sense what she was saying most of the time. We dont know anything about her either other than she's a librarian. Her co-worker Elaine was odd. I didnt get what she was about. I dunno I honestly felt this was a mess and I skipped a chapter or 2 around the end because I wanted it to be over. Sorry..just didnt make sense. I think development was a big one. I think its the smaller details that didnt make sense and needed to be expanded. We need background information on characters so we can know them a little. Not a lot but just a little. We knew remotely nothing. I also wanted to know more about these new laws and that wasnt explained either. I also think inner dialogue posed a big problem for me because it was confusing the heck outta me! I cant recommend this one. I see a lot liked it and thats cool, but a couple of us were confused lol.

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!
***Received the ebook for an honest review

The cover is fierce. My favorite shifter covers always have both sides of the shifter and cats are my fav!

This fits into the Jamesburg series and the Grayslake kindle world. You can read this standalone and enjoy it, but it may help if you know a certain wolf shifter and his shenanigans by reading the other Jamesburg books. I’m bad because I read this over a month ago, but then all heck broke lose and I was side tracked.

This has Lynn Red’s usual quirky characters which I find unique and fun to read. I always have some laughs reading her stories. Laney and Rip are no exceptions. I also loved the cubs in the library :)

I recommend this book to all of Lynn’s fans especially if you love the Jamesburg shifter series.

I never really figured out the MC's. I found Laney's inner dialogue tedious and hard to follow at times. I must say I enjoyed Laney's fellow librarians much more than the main characters.
The story didn't take off like I expected, not even in the action scenes.

There was a bit of romance even if I would have liked a bit more steam and perhaps a more clear reason as to why she (and he) actually fell in love.

That said, I think the story was ok and an easy read. Eric and Izzy intrigued me a bit and I might pick up their story in the future.

Laney Langston is a lion-shifter librarian (love the alliteration!) and she encounters fellow lion-shifter, Rip Black while he's napping in the library. He reveals that he's sort of been stalking her and tries to remain a mystery, but she soon learns that he's actually the guy who has been spouting off his philosophical ideas about how shifters should live and become infamous for it. Laney can't believe he's attracted to her, but Rip is determined to show her he means business. He even risks his life to prove to her that he's serious about having a relationship with her.

Something didn't work in this story and it's hard to pinpoint exactly what. I think a great deal of it had to do with feeling like I never learned who the MCs actually were. Rip was pretty much a mystery and I couldn't figure why he fell in love with Laney...he says he loved her smile. And he claims he's in love with her before he's even spoken to her. Laney is just as much a mystery. We get in to her head a bit more, but it doesn't seem to reveal much. For example, we can clearly see that she has insecurities and for that reason doesn't trust Rip and his intentions. However, the reader never has any idea where those insecurities come from. Nor is there any valid explanation for why she suddenly gets over them. So, as a result, I couldn't connect to either of these characters and they fell in love so fast and with so little interaction that I didn't buy into their romance at all.

This story is just so all over the place that I have no idea what the author wanted to write about. The Rip character is a stalker that sexually harrased Lainey. He has some political issues that are confusing to explain and that storyline is incredibly poorly written. Laniey also has some emotional problems that I still don't know anything about. Nothing written made any sense whatsoever.

The begining of their "relationship" is non-existant, there is no start, middle or anything. Just a lot of confusing meetings that are based on non-sensical ramblings of both characters, some humping and poof, there's love, for some reason.

Cute but confused

Izzy and Erik from Jamesburg make brief appearances in this quirky story.
The main characters, Laney and Rip, are very confused about their sudden and strong feelings for each other. The writer stressed so much on their confusion and hormonal highs and lows that I felt confused and stressed too, just wanting the story to end already. The rest of the Jamesburg series is much better.

That has to be one of the most painful stories I've ever read. Disorganized, huge jumps between plot points that left me looking for missing pages to make sense of it all. And then there's the story itself in relation to the Grayslake world. It literally does not fit in the timeline of the original series and given that no mention of shifters coming out makes this story completely out of left field. A complete time suck with no depth in the characters.

1. New author for me.
2. Wtf did i just read?

Poor, poor me.
The story is the same as another book from Celia Kyle - the librarian and the lion.
Is just me or those lions can speak in shifted form? Coz in Grayslake no one does. So how are they in one world? The author didn't write the story for all to understand it, meaning for those who didnt read her Jamesburg series it's a lot confusing.
I liked the first chapter only, the rest nah...

Good story.

This was well written and short, yet a bit of a complex storyline. This was not one that you just flip through you need to pay attention to keep things straight at least I had to. Most of the Kindle World books are quick fun reads. This is that with another layer of complexity added. Highly recommend this book when you want one a bit more engaging.

Incredibly disappointing...the book is filled with bizarre ramblings such as “like a homeless worm trying to escape an oven’ and that’s one of the better examples. No character development and feels like it was written with no plot in mind...definitely do NOT recommend!

The same crazy couple from book one of Jamesburg Shifters are in this.
The only Grayslake connection is Reid and the town of Redby.
Part way in I realised why I don’t read this authors craziness, it is just not for me.

Not aligned with Grayslake

Reid Bennett (but spelled with only one "t") and Redby are the only things related to the Grayslake series. She obviously didn't read or talk with anyone. Boring storyline. Tempted to give only one star, but the books that I don't finish get one star.

As you can see you this is but it from Lynn Red, I'm guessing the books before this  were Jamesburg Shifters and we are crossing over to Grayslake Shifters. This book is true to form of Lynn's way of writing. In fact I love the way she writes and of course she has a sense of humor I love, besides everyone deserves a good laugh.
Laney Langston lives, works in a small town called Redby Township in Georgia. Being a lioness shifter plus the librarian was her life. Laney gave up on finding anyone special  especially with her looks yep big-n-beautiful that was her, consequently all her
time and energy went to the library and the children. Even if there was someone she had no time.
Rip Black is a Lion Shifter who has some radical views on the rights of shifter, has had so much publicity, he has no peace. The more he advocates for shifters, the more popular he becomes the more Papparatzi follow him. As if that's not bad enough he has had assassination attempts, so he decides to lay low for a while and ends up in Redby. He knew he might be hiding in this small town but he just found his mate. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I was so happy to see Erik and Izzy again!! And if this means we'll be seeing more of the Jamesburg crazies, together with the Redby nuts yipeeee! They go to Redby to meet with the Liason between their two towns and then take a tour to Miami! A Werewolf with a sunburn, I love it!

I laughed so hard it isn't funny, now that's the Lynn Red I'm used to reading, although all of her stuff is great, I just love her craziness, it is so refreshing to sit down and read something that not only pulls at your heart strings and other parts below, but makes you laugh so much and remember days gone by.

Laney a lioness has given up on ever finding a man that can put up with her BBW and her mood swings, not to mention they have to be liked by her weird and flacky BBF Elaine. She just spends her days at the Library and home. But when she finds a Lion sleeping and snoring no less in the Stephen King section, her life takes a turn she never expected.

Rip Black is a lion shifter known all over the country for his radical views on the rights of shifters all around the country. But he is tired of all the publicity, Papparatzi and assassination attempts, so he decides to run away from it all and winds up in Redby. Little does he suspect that a certain Librarian is about to change his views on life.

This is a more tempered version of Jamesburg, but crazy and wild just the same, I love it!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book opens up with a meeting between Eric Danniken(jamesburg Alpha) and Reid Bennet(former redby Alpha) discussing a shifter deceny policy due to humans invaded their towns and lifestyle. Laney Langston is a librarian and lion shifter in the small town of Redby. Rip Black is an activist of shifter rights and lion shifter. He has come to Redby to escape the public life and political strain of his career. He spots Laney in the library and he knows she is what he has been waiting for. The next week, just before kiddie time, Laney hears a noise in the library-sounds like someone is snoring. Uh-oh. You don't fall asleep in a library, just don't do it. So, when Laney goes to investigate the snoring she finds a sleeping lion in the stacks. Not only is the person in their animal form, he is also moaning and mumbling in hi sleep, so not appropriate, not in front of the children... Laney wakes Rip up and tries to read him the riot act for falling asleep. But, she doesn't quite pull it off because she is too busy drooling over the man. Rip manages to slip a note in Laney's pocket on his way out-(its a love note) which then starts a very odd race toward love. I enjoyed the book, but got confused about who was who, when Laney was talking to her bff Elaine.

A little confusing if you haven't read the previous series, but absolutely worth the read, one way or another. As I haven't read the previous series, I was expecting a story about Erik and Izzy, only to continue and discover Rip and Laney, and what a couple these two are. They are full of doubts and insecurities, but discover a soul mate in each other that not only dissolves their troubled thoughts, but calms them in a way no other is able to. The antics they find themselves in are hilarious, keeping us on our toes, trying desperately not to roar in laughter or cry for their heartaches, as we follow them until they finally accept their fates. A great read that will leave you wanting more of these characters. I love the fact that this author uses previous characters to introduce new ones. A unique way to tell a tale and pique your interest for past episodes. Well done!

This time Erik and Izzy (from Jamesburg Shifters) are introducing us to a new bunch of shifters. Redby Township will be hosting a country-wide shifter council because it's a small town, sort of neutral territory between Jamesburg and Grayslake, and relatively peaceful. Humans know about shifters and they are trying to insert shifters into the human world with as little trouble as possible. Rip Black, who has some radical views, is in town. Laney meets a strange lion in the library. He is dreaming about things that the toddlers shouldn't know about. As he leaves the library after shifting and dressing, he leaves a note in Laney's back pocket of jeans. Who is the lion? What is he doing in Redby? Why does everyone else seems to know his name?

Love the Grayslake world and really enjoyed Lynn Red's take on it. Rip is a naturalist-type werelion - he thinks shifters ought to be able to shift or whatever whenever they want...and not be constrained by humans. Or he did anyway...until things got a little crazy. Now he's hiding out in Redby.
Laney Langston is a small-ton librarian (and werelion) living in Redby. She thinks no one will ever want her for her quirky self....until she finds a lion sleeping in her library. They both recognize the other as a mate but things are never easy in the town of Redby.

Can these two work things out? Will they finally come together as mates? Read this funny, quirky, and slightly wacky tale and find out for yourself.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Eric and Izzy are in Redby to sign new shifter laws. From their meeting they spot the infamous Rip, a spokesperson for shifters returning to naturalist state. Rip and Laneys story begins with a sleeping lion in a library. Their chemistry is instant even if they fight it.

I loved this book, there was little bit of round about here. Laney doing what we do best sometimes and putting words and thoughts into Rips mouth and head. But he won't give up and his determination is endearing. Lynn has done it again with another fun read.

Redby township
Lane worked at the public library when she heard some snoring. Someone sleeping in the library Yea that just was not permitted. Going to wake the guy up wouldn't you know he turned out to be on of the hottest lion her lioness had seen!
Rip Black was trying to help with shifters rights but maybe pushing a little hard. Some people were making him out to be trouble. So here he was in this little town were he came across his mate. Now he just has to convince her.
I love Lynn Red's mix of comady and action in her stories. It just doesn't stop it's fantastic
She has a great style that makes for a fun read.

Not terribly impressed. This was missing the humor and action and really everything that makes a book part of the More Than Mated brand. Yes, it's a Kindle World book, but I've read quite a few from a couple different series, and this one just didn't hold up for me. The description sounded great, but it fell flat as soon as I started reading. I'm not a huge fan of Ms Red, but I thought I'd give it a shot. The only thing that I appreciate about this book is that it will help me remember not to buy any more of her books.

Revived the book for an honest review. No one writes shifter romances like Lynn does. I really love the Jamesburg Shifter series and Lion to Get Her is a great addition. Laney is a librarian who's stuck in a rut and she doesn't even know it. Rip is a celebrity who's in hiding when he finds what he too has been missing in this life. What a great couple Laney and Rip make. They both compliment and strengthen one another. This story has everything a PNR lover could possibly want. A great read that will have you wanting more of these characters. Thanks for the story Lynn!! Can't wait for more.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the Izzy and Erik visit – these two, or three as the case may be, are a riot. The visit is short but it introduces the characters in this story, Laney and Rip. I found it a bit confusing but the story is light, quick to read and funny – with mayhem thrown in for good measure. This was my first visit to the Grayslake world but I plan to go back.

Rip Black wants out of the spotlight so coming to Jamesburg seemed like the right thing to do and finding a sexy librarian was a perk. Laney Langston is lonely but wont admit it to anyone so when a sexy lion stalks her she is more then intrigued and when she sees the man she could use a cold shower.

I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. I love the authors Jamesburg shifters books and this is another winner.

This is another story in the Jamesburg shifters series it features Rip and Laney who are both lions. This series has been a favorite of mine and I have tried to pick up each book as they come out. I enjoyed how much Rip and Laney were willing to change their attitudes as they realized that they had found their mate. I always enjoy the unique situations Ms. Red creates for her Jamesburg shifters and can't wait to see what happens next for them.

Laney is a librarian in a small town. She only has time for the library and keeping the kids in line at story time. She thinks that her chance at love ended before it even had a chance to take off. Such is life in small towns! Rip comes to town to hide from everyone and gets smacked with love at first sight! Will Laney agree or run from the one and only chance she may get?

Who knew stumbling into a small town that Rip would find is fated mate Laney. There relationship did started off ruff but Rip and his charming ways was able to make Laney see that his feelings for her was really and truly sincere. This book with its humor, and some suspense aspect and steamy romance makes for one interesting read.
